Rosenthal listened intently to what Luna said. Her opinion mattered more to him than the rest of them.Your going soft. the voice said.He chose carefully his next words but ignored some things she said.Rosenthal particularily ignored the part where she mentioned about her being there if he needed. It wasn't what she had said that annoyed him but it was more the actual word need.He knew she was just trying to look out for him but part of him didn't interpret it that way.Part of him interpreted it that she was subtly making him out to be a lesser being. He didn't express his feelings into words about what she said but his facial expression did change. He frowned, he didn't like the sound of it.Saying that he needed her, as in needed her to survive. The voice played with him Show her, show her who is the lesser. Rosenthal pondered about this voice. It was either his conscious or the vampire side of him and he couldn't think which.Whatever it was Rosenthal usually believed most of what it said.It was funny, this voice had only just recently started playing in his mind.
Rosenthal responded to her by telling Luna about his expierence with humans, his parents death. She would be the first person he would tell And the last.Better none at all the voice stated. He felt relieved after telling her.He didn't know if she would be shocked by his story but he added something wise his uncle had once showed him in one of the ancient books that was written when vampires were in their prime during medieval times, his uncle was a lot different from his parents. The quote was a quote from dracula himself. The book was called Immortal being and all vampires of pure-blood had at least seen it.Infact Rosenthal had this book within his drawer in his room.He had not yet finished it but he was half way through, many dark things were contained within the book.It was considered treason to show it to anybody but a pure-blood vampire.Even the common vampires were forbidden.Vampires had a deep social structure with the pure-bloods being at the top.But it was okay for him to recite some of the lines, it was clearly outlined in the book which ones were okay to say to others in the book. But as the pyramid went down in the hierarchy less things could be said.First was the pure-bloods and next was the different familys of vampire. There was 5 familys. All familys had some sort of link to the pure-bloods but a lot less so to Dracula and they went down accordingly to his relation to him and the pure-bloods, for the pure-bloods were the closest thing to Dracula himself, they were his direct relations.Second last was the commoner vampires, the ones who had been turned from a human into a vampire. And dead last was other races/and or humans. The book was massive about a thousand pages long, five hundred of these pages contained the darkest and most secretive things, these were only in the pure-bloods edition of the book. The vampire familys had an edition aswell but it only contained the other five hundred pages at most for them.Commoners and other races of course didn't receive an edition, almost no one except for the pure-bloods themselves even knew about the extra pure-bloods edition.Rosenthal was on page four hundred and ninty, he had yet to get to the pure-blood only content.
Rosenthal recited the passage from the book."Page nine, line 22-25: Vengeance is like a ghost, it takes over every man it touches, and only will your thirst be quenched, when the deed is done and they lie dead."Rosenthal paused."This vengeance is bred into my kind from a young age, it flows through me right now although it is supressed for the moment. My parents never tought me about it, it was only after their death that my uncle appeared a few years later and gave me a book...he told me the right way to do things..."Yesss, tell her more.Rosenthal obeyed the voice's orders."The book...there is very little copys left, if you search the internet for 'Immortal Being', you will find who wrote it and nothing more, maybe the first ten pages at most which my kind are allowed to tell you anyway. If you can't find the first ten pages I will be sure to get them for you.You will never get your hands on a physical complete book copy though, it is forbidden to share almost all of its knowledge. But I still think you could learn something from those first ten pages...it will tempt you to become one of us and to think if you did, you could learn even more from the book...and then under certain cicrumstances maybe even more again."Rosenthal didn't want to elaborate further on the latter, she wouldn't want to know until she had read the first ten pages.
Per se he was leaving out the bait for her and the books first ten pages would serve as a fishing rod.An inescapable fishing rod with an unbrekable line, which reeled people in.Once they started reading there was no going back. His bait seemed harmless, and this was to Rosenthals advantage. Most people wern't worth leaving this bait out for them, but Luna was an exception to Rosenthal.Rosenthal thought she might ask for his copy so just incase to insure himself he added: "I do not own my copy anymore, my uncle took it away from me before I came to the academy."He lied.Good, you did well.We must read more once we get bad to your dorm as a reward. The voice appraised Rosenthal.
