I don't know if anyone has done this before and I know it's not an original idea, but it sounds like fun. I'm thinking of creating a board set in Basin City (Frank Miller's Sin City setting). I wouldn't want to see any of the canon characters, personally. I just like the mood and theme of the setting. The idea would be to create original, believeable characters and tell their stories in this dark and dreary world. It would, naturally, given the setting, be a mature roleplay. Because a lot of what made Sin City great, at least in my mind, was internal conflict and the ugly side of humanity, literate, serious roleplayers/writers are a must.
Whether you'd want to play a gang member or a prostitute, a murderer or a dirty cop, or even an idealist fighting a losing war against the darkness, I see many possibilities. But, I think that given the setting, every character would have to be flawed and exploring those flaws would be entertaining.
If anyone has any interest in something like this, or has any ideas to offer, please let me know.
Respectfully,
(D.H.)
