Hi everyone
Goal: I’m looking to start a new one-on-one roleplay, or possibly two.
How I roleplay: I like to base my characters around their flaws; it’s how I create my most organic and enjoyable to play characters, so be aware that you may get stuck playing opposite a character that’s really mean, a complete misogynist or maybe a kleptomaniac or womanizer- something like that. Will they have redeeming qualities? Sure, but I start with flaws and vices and go from there.
I don’t really like seeing people putting down a minimum requirement for words per post. I think it’s silly. There are times when it is totally fitting to write a thousand words and it flows beautifully with the story and I am never going to fault anyone for that. But there are also times where it’s really inappropriate in roleplay. Roleplaying is collaborative, after all. Like I tell my children: you have to take turns. I’ll give an example. Let’s say our characters are engaged in a discussion. My character asks your character a question. Now maybe I’ve achieved all that I want to achieve in this post, but at this point I’ve only got maybe two hundred words. Should my character blabber on without waiting for your character to answer? No. That’s rude not only in real life, but also- in my humblest opinion- in roleplay. It also disrupts the flow. So if the tables are turned and your character asks mine a question, then goes on about something else for a while, then changes the subject and asks another question all in the span of a single post, well, you can expect my character to be a bit insulted that your character never shuts up long enough for him or her to speak. Just sayin’.
I usually start with one main character and a host of NPCs, but as the game progresses it’s pretty common for me to start introducing new characters, and more may join in or drop out depending on what’s going on.
I play all sexes, races, and orientations. The characters I choose to play will depend on the story. I don’t have any pre-made characters.
I also don’t have any fully developed plot ideas because I’d rather all ideas be collaborative in nature. I don’t ever want either of us feeling like we can’t make the sudden decision to totally derail things, throw a wrench in, and completely change directions. Expect that to happen. Don’t expect me to ask permission first. That being said, I do have certain kinds of roleplays I enjoy. I like most things in a historical setting. Light fantasy and light sci-fi are great. I’m also not against realism, so let’s discuss it.
Conclusion: If you’ve got ideas, I’d love to hear them. If you think we might be compatible roleplay partners but you’re shy and need me to get the ball rolling, I can deal with that too. We can figure something out. Send me a PM and we can talk.
