Shantaro watched as the man paced. He watched his movements, how he stepped, the strength of his hands as he gestured and the killer look in his eyes. He listened to him babble on about what he thought of him and himself. Shantaro enjoyed learning about him, all his confidence, the way he took each step, how his hands moved as he yanked at his weapons and how close he was... There was a pause in his step.

The kick was fast, but Shantaro quickly counter spun to catch his foot in his palm and swept him up off his feet before leaping backwards. Both moves where simple. Shantaro steadied his hat as he landed. He knew Frost would recover from that sweep in mid-air without problem. He was toying with Shantaro and he knew it.ā€Øā€Øā€œYou talk too much Frost. A kick like that might have worked on weapon fighters,ā€ Shantaro holds his hands out open hand. ā€œBut with fighters like Rei and I, youā€™ll need to come better than that. Now stop playing with me and let me see what Iā€™m really facing.ā€

A smile slid onto Frosts face as he arched backwards in the air.
"hai!" He shouted loudly with an angry voice but still with his happy expression. He spun quickly and his Kusarigama swung out as whipping arms before he landed.
"Toying?! You have no idea what toying feels like. Let me show you!" Frost hissed as he began to cause the blades to stab into the floor closer and closer to his opponent like bladed footsteps. Still he kept a steady eye on his enemies feet, the other student's eyes and of course, the kid behind the door. Frost moved his hand along the left Kusarigama and gently slid his fingers across its chain, preparing for Shantaro's retaliation.

Reiyu's eyes widened as Frost shouted, and surely the battle was going out of hand. Oh, Shantaro, you idiot, now look what you got yourself into. Surely though, wasn't the battle a hand-to-hand? It was simply dishonoring the code to bring out a weapon when stated a hand-to-hand combat spar, that was just simply... dirtying it. Going against your own words. A foul.

Though, it wasn't cowardice, Rei knew better than to interfere. This was Shantaro's and Frost's battle, not hers to intervene into. Besides, Frost was the one to challenge, she was in no position to come in between the two, unless she was crazy enough to risk her head...

Only the problem was that she didn't want to lose her only existing motivation to push herself. If Shantaro had never existed, she would have almost never trained 24/7, save for the typical necessities. Competing made her push herself beyond the limit, but she was still human nonetheless. Imperfect, unlike that one prodigy she's heard of. Inhaling in a shaky breath, she murmured inaudibly to herself to calm down, it'll be fine, the Academy won't be destroyed and all will be well.

But that was all a lie, wasn't it now.

The blades were sharp. They easily slipped into the flooring and Shantaro knew that he was much softer. It would hurt. He smiled though, he had done what he had set out to do, angered his opponent. The flailing blades would be easier to get past now, especially once Frost was disrupted. And disrupted he would be.

Shantaro took a step back and watched for his opening, he waited for one of the blades hit the ground just as the other was pulled back. He waited for his range. And there it was. Shantaro darted in as the weapon hit the ground... as the other drew back. Snapping his finger to ignite the small explosive that he placed on Frostā€™s foot. It exploded to completely throw him off balance. Shantaro was inside, Frost was in his murder range. The speed drills he just finished with the dummy he let loose on his new target. Several beautiful blows were landed before he swung in for a thrusting kick of his own.

Frost saw what his opponent was doing, and lept back. A small explosive went off before him, clearly set previously on his foot. And as his vision cleared he saw Shantaro come towards him with a flurry of attacks, which Frost swiftly dodged with little worry.
Deacon could see Shantaro reading him, and thus he was already in his trap.
"Blossom," Said Frost gently as he lifted his right index finger up and bent the chain, thus disrupting it's course and forcing the blade back towards himself, whilst turning his left hand to swing around the other blade. He released both chains, letting them continue on their path that bent around Shantaro, whilst bending his knees and moving to the right, narrowly avoiding a swift kick.
Frost grabbed that chains that lay dormant, hanging from the wall and pulled hard before swinging them above his head in alternate directions and jumping back.
As he was in the air he let go of the chain, the two blades from his side now flying directly towards Shantaro's head.
"O, Venus." He finished. He knew the two chains in Shantaro's waist would quickly wrap around him, and if he tried to jump he would only be met with the other two Kusarigama. All his opponent could do was...
"Come forward, into my palms..." Whispered Frost as his face slowly began to lose it's smile and took a strange lifelessness to it, as if without emotion. His old self.

ā€œBah!ā€ Shantaro scuffed under his breath as he missed with the kick. Frostā€™s maneuver left him with very little options. The blades were coming from the sides and from over head and the chains were going to keep him there if he didnā€™t do something quickly. He said that he was only going to use two. ā€œHonorless swine,ā€ Shantaro growled in his head. If he didnā€™t do anything now, death would be immanent.

Shantaro jumped, spinning as his hand slid under his hat just as the Kasurigamas struck. The sound of them hitting his hat rang of steel on steel and before Frost could register what happened a small cloud of powder scattered from the spinning ninja. Shantaroā€™s fist burst into flame, igniting the flash powder around him and blinding all that watched. He could see Frost was one of them. Again Shantaro was inside with his shield in his hand and he made good his opening charging his fist with flames and striking hard and fast another barrage.

Frost smiled as the flash powder ignited into a blinding light, though he was still spinning, it did hurt his eyes. All he could do was one simple move:
He grabbed the chains with both his hands and twisted them hard, causing the blades to snap diagonally into the other two chains before they could hit the ground. He pulled back and was quickly reunited with his beloved weapons.

There was still some smoke, something that could be used to his advantage. So he used it as he could. He took all four chains in his hands, the weights just behind his palms, and spun them around himself, using their chains as a shield from the incoming attacks that Shantaro was delivering.k.

"Shantaro!" He swung the Kusarigama harder, knocking back his opponent this time and sticking the tips of the blades into the floor in a half-circle around himself, creating a small parimeter. All the chains still held firmly in his grip.
"I am sorry that it's come to this..." He knelt down lower, his face looking to the floor as he pulled back on the chains, the blades just barely staying in the floor, "Cat of nine tails," One blade snapped out of the ground and whipped past Shantaros face then behind Frost and sticking deep into the floor, "Dances wild upon the forest floor," Another blade, doing just as the other did, but with more speed, "A sparrow watches from a branch with a strange bemusement," A third blade now snapped out of the floor, in a blurry movement, "whips quickly, raising leaves in a twisting dance," The fourth broke loose and just as it passed Frosts head he spoke gently, "Cutting down the trees. Dancing Cat Of Nine Tails." He closed his eyes and jumped, whipping the chains forward.

He landed only a few feet a head, his eyes still closed, his face looking as if locked in perfect concentration, as the blades swung madly around him in an intense flurry of movments created by only small twists of Frosts wrist and tiny lifts of his fingers, The blades lashes huge cuts into the floor as they picked up more speed, now appearing to be more than just four blades but perhaps ten, maybe a hundred.
It was all an illusion of speed over power, his blades could be made of card, but at this speed they could slice the toughest of necks. Frost stood and began slowly walking towards Shantaro, as the walls became lashed and the floor whipped into peices, destruction moving closer with each step.

She could feel it. It was pulsing in her veins, her mind reacting, churning with the chaos of events. The balance, it was uneven, what was he THINKING? Shooting herself up from the sitting position, all observers already evacuated the area, there wasn't much more to do than scream out the obvious. "SHANTARO, RUN." Reiyu yelled, backing away from Front herself. It was terrifying, how was there someone with so much power, one who used it to show no mercy? He was about to kill an innocent, one who only thought of a meaningless, simple spar. Did that man even have compassion?

Actually, rephrase that. Did he even know what compassion is?

Heh. Obviously not.

Her instincts got the best of her, only one thing processing in her mind. "Run, escape, get away..." But Shantaro, what about Shantaro? In that instant, she was grateful that she excelled in hand-to-hand combat and agility, also for the fact that Frost was walking slowly, and with that short burst of energy, grabbed Shantaro's arm, yanking him away from the scene. "He's got that killing intent - c'mon!" She whispered harshly, pulling him along. If he didn't listen, if he refused and stayed to fight, well, it was an obvious suicide. Shantaro may be strong, but against this guy> Simply by watching that battle, analyzing every move, Frost was out of Shantaro's league by a million.

Please.

This guy is going to murder.

Shantaro had never seen such a display of power before as he leapt back to gain some distance from the hurricane of blades. What could he do to attack? What could he do to defend? What could he do to survive? His shield would not hold up to such an attack and he wouldnā€™t be able to get close enough to use his jitsu and everyone that had not fled in fear was watching, especially Rei. He could not fail. He couldnā€™t die. Not yet, not while she was watching. ā€œThink of something. Think of something!ā€ The voice in his head grew louder. Then to his great surprise Rei jumped in to save him, yanking him away from the battle. ā€œNo!ā€ his mind screamed. He wanted the fight, he didnā€™t want to leave it unfinished.

She had pulled him far away from the battle and Shantaro yanked his arm away. He was furious with her. How could she stop the battle like that? Why would she stop it? He was going to explode on her... till he saw her eyes. And just like an explosion, the anger was there and gone. He looked back towards the training hall. He couldnā€™t see it from where she had taken him. But he knew Frost wasnā€™t happy. He looked back at her, the girl that was his rival. He tilted his hat to cover his eyes and let out a loud sigh. It was relief, thankfulness, acceptance and forgiveness.

ā€œI could have won.ā€ He said as if trying to convince himself as well. He looked at her and smiled.

As Shintaro was whipped away from the hall Frost stopped his flurry of attacks, standing holding the chains tightly on either side. He opened his eyes and saw an empty, destroyed room.
He swung his Kusarigama over his neck and looked to the door, "A good man. I could use him. Shame about the girl. No... I could use her...'til next time." Frost said to the empty room before sighing deeply and sitting on the floor, his legs crossed.

Some quiet footsteps were heard, and when Frost looked he saw the kid walking into the room. The kid spoke as he sat next to Frost,
"I'm sorry you lost the fight."

Deacon's eyes sparked wide, "Lose? Lose?! The fight isn't over! The fight won't be over until I'm dead! Stupid child!" He used one of his Kusarigama to slam the room's door shut and from outside, if someone pressed their ear against that door, they would very faintly hear the dying cries of a child.
And Deacon stood over his lashed body, breathing heavily, with a smirk, "It appears you will be more useful than I thought. I didn't know I could do that." He laughed as he hid the body into the large gash in the wooden floor. It would be fixed quickly, and no one would know.

But how curious.

Using a body in that manner... how curious, indeed.

Yarin opened her eyes as she finished her meditation. She dropped on her back feom her sitting position and gazed at Hiroshi. "Maybe we should get back soon" she said and started gazing at the sky as a big flock of fluffy white clouds slowly passed by. She sighed a bit and stretched. Yarin was a bit tired after training but it was more of a mental tiredness than a psysical one. Weird she though as she got up and brushed herself clean for dust from the ground.

Yagi heard a faint kid crying and knowing Frost in there it was best left aloneā€¦As long as Yagi is not around. But Yagi ran away looking for Hiroshi and Yarin to tell them that Frost has gone mad and weā€™re all going to die! Yagi looked around the school and was trying to think ā€œWhere would they be? They need to know about frost! I have to tell them because the master wouldnā€™t believe what I say and he might believe them.ā€ Yagi know that he would never find them and said to him self ā€œAh forget it Iā€™m going need some rest anyways I should head to the springs in the mountain. The water there is nice and hot.ā€

So Yagi grab a few things some nice cloths, food, and his Katana just to be safe. Yagi just had the Idea to just stay out doors for some time anyways and getting away from Frost is a good idea to. So he pack all his things and head out to where the springs where, and once he got there it was completely empty. So he set up a small camp where he can rest and just get out of school and every thing. Little did he know that the spring was just north of the where Yarin and Hiroshi were.

Yagi looked through his things and he didnā€™t have any water for some tea but he could make the fire and had every thing else. He remembers there was a waterfall not far from here and he couldnā€™t the spring water for people use them. So he headed south with a bowl to hold the water from the waterfall to his camp. Once he got there he saw all the water going down and put the bowl on the flow of the water picking it up.

He looked around the area and says to him self ā€œThis place looks familiar. I think I was here before but when?ā€ Yagi remembers something about 4 years ago, something best forgotten but also best not forgotten. Not In a long time has he smiled of peace and true happiness and not of hummer or jokes.

Yagi heard something down the waterfall and saw Hiroshi and Yarin, said to him self again ā€œLove canā€™t be found every where, so you might as well in joy it as long as you have it.ā€ Yagi walked back to his camp looking forward to have some nice tea and rest in the springs.

Hiroshi smiled at Yarin and gripped her hand. He gave her his trademark, puppy-eyed look, "Can't we stay a bit longer? We hardly get to spend time together it seems thanks to all the training we have to do."
He wrapped an arm around her and grinned, "How about we just watch the clouds and stuff?"

Reiyu, it seemed, had surprised even herself as in that quick flash had brought someone far away from its original area, the problem it being her rival. You'd think that rivals would hate each others guts, well, that's only for the first three years of the sixteen or so. First-hand experience told her that. She crossed her arms as he sighed loudly, her eyes turned stony, she bit back the urge to let out a string of colorful swear words, and forced back the want to punch him right in the face. He deserved it.

"You would have died trying." She retorted dryly, acting as if Shantaro was the stupidest thing on earth. As of right now, rival or not, she didn't want an innocent dead, especially from a stupid reason like a spar. He would never live it down, that is, if he lived at all. The training hall was out of view, thankfully, who knew if Frost would be on a tantrum rampage right now. Either way, Reiyu was safe, Shantaro was safe, and all other innocents weren't harmed. As for Frost...who knew. The next time they met wouldn't be pretty, and he must be just as infuriated with her as much as Shantaro, if not more. Probably because she interfered? Yep. True, it was dishonorable, a bit tainting, but the rules should be bent once in a while.

Hah.

"Look," Rei sighed, unfolding her arms. Her thumbs hooked into her shorts pockets. "You're an idiot, ya know that? And I even so dare to say, you owe me one." And with that, she turned her heel and walked away, maybe into the forest to cool down.

He listened to her sigh. She was upset with him, but that was nothing new. And she was right, he did owe her. He didnā€™t stop her as she headed off into the forest. He wanted to retort with something witty, but he held his tongue. He watched her as she moved away from him, her thumbs in her pockets. Again he looked up towards the training hall. Their exam would surely be postponed and the teachers would be asking questions. The master would be finishing breakfast by now and would soon get word of the fight. He hoped that he wouldnā€™t have to be the one to repair the training hall.

Shantaro adjusted his hat and followed Rei into the forest. He could use the time off from class after that fight to relax and replenish not only his energy but his supplies as well. He would have to make more. And if he had to face Frost again, he would need something to defend against The Dance. He would need to train, think of new tactics.

He couldnā€™t help thinking as he walked behind her. How much of himself did he reveal to her? They had always fought, but never had they considered fighting to the death. ā€œLife and death,ā€ He thought. That fight was much different, everything was chaos, panic, control and focus all at the same time. He had surprised himself. Things he didnā€™t even know about himself came forth. He suddenly felt vulnerable. ā€œWould it be the same for her if put in the same situation?ā€ Would he even want her in the same situation? He knew that she was strong, he knew that she was as skilled as he, but a fight to the finish?

Rei watched the entire fight, she stayed even as the building was coming down around them. Why? He suddenly recalled the look on her face as she pulled him out of the hall. That look, she didnā€™t want to loose him. He suddenly realized that he himself didnā€™t want to loose her. He wouldnā€™t lose her. She made him fight harder, train harder, be stronger. Since he was brought to the school she had been there, pushing him on. Sixteen years was a long time, happy rivalry indeed.

He said nothing as he followed.

Brown hair swirled around a delicate, smiling face.
The snap of a clip as she finished pulling her hair up.
The clink of metal upon metal rang out as a sword clashed against the nineteen year-old's Shurikens.
The girl knocked the sword away, momentarily safe, she dropped into a crouch and knocked her opponent's feet from under him.
A small thunk ensued as the man fell on his butt.
A moment later, the man was on his feet again, scribbling away on some parchment.
"Very good, Siro-Kia," the man said, putting the parchment down and beginning to examine Siro-Kia's arm, "your wound is healing nicely."
Siro nodded and left the training area, placing her Shurikens back in their pouch at her waist.

Siro sighed as she walked into the mess hall and obtained an apple.
She cleaned the shiny green fruit off slowly and bit into it, savoring the sour taste.
Siro left the mess hall as she ate and climbed swiftly into a tree and pulled her hair down so that it floated casually about her shoulders.
She ran her fingers through her hair, pausing to examine the black and white part.

Siro-Kia finished her apple, throwing the seeds to the ground below, she climbed higher in the tree and placed the apple core out in the sun for the birds.
She climbed back down again and walked into the living quarters, coming out again a moment later with paint, a paintbrush, and parchment.
This was her way of meditating. Becoming one with nature.
She sat down gracefully in the center of the courtyard and began painting the trees with their assortment of flowers.
The mountains blue in the background, flowers pink, purple, blue and many more colors. She painted everything as it is, not concealing blemish or flaw on any part of nature.
Siro closed her eyes as she painted. The wind swirled around her as she painted a pale sky and a gentle breeze.
"To capture nature," she sighed with a smile.
noot noot

"It's fine" Yarin laughed. "You don't have to make that face" She kissed Hiroshi on the forehead and wrapped her arm around him as well. "Besides I wasn't planning on leaving yet. This place is really special to me and not just because I've been coming here for years" she let go of Hiroshi and sat down looking at the drifting clouds while being nostalgic. Had it already been 4 years since that incident? Sge could barely belive it, but mostly the flow of time and it's pace surprised Yarin more than antone could imagine. Therefore she also came to this exact spot to relive her past and this place held a part of Yarin's past that not even she was sure was true.

Reiyu was at the foot of the lush forest, actually it was more of a woods than a forest. However, despite the distance between them, she could hear Shantaro following her. Jeez, so he had to stalk her too, what sort of repayment was that?

"Shantaro?" She murmured, turning around, quizzical look on her face. "Why are you following me?"

She was curious, yes indeed she was. True, he must have nothing better to do, but perhaps he could go inform the Master on this or something? Maybe one of the master's henchmen, they could pass on the message to the master... that seemed to be more realistic than going up to him in person. However, despite all this thinking, she kept a straight and focused look on her rival, another thought wracking her brain.

They've never really worked with each other, even through all those 16 years. It's either been saving your butt, oh look, you've just saved mine, let's go back to competing, or plain out... competing. Never in a partnership, never trained genuinely together, none of that.

Well it wasn't going to change, even after today, so... why worry about it.

There are more important matters, such as why he was following her.

Yagi was heading back to the Waterfall from lossing all his water before he could reach his campsite. He mumbled to him self "For saking rock! Having me trib on it! Now I have to go get more water so I can just have a nice cup of tea! He reached the Waterfall getting more water looking down seeing Hiroshi and Yarin where still there. He thought to him self "I didn't know many people know about this Waterfall or came here non-else. All the times I have been at that school I have only seen that girl once.
