The Reborns

Tips: 0.00 INK Postby KonaFeint on Tue Jul 21, 2009 8:12 pm

The long, dark hall always echoed with the ever-so-faint sounds of water, dripping from the underground cavern's ceiling. The hall was adorned with heavy cloth scrolls depicting the journey, and the losses, of the unfairly condemned Reborns. Small torches, filled with eerily blue flames, were the only light in the endless tunnel.

This was the Hall Of Lost Memories.

And at the end, all the way near the door to where The First dwelled in their underground home, was a scroll of Salvation City, up in flames...

~

Huge trees loomed in the sky, blotting out the sun and leaving dappled patches of the gray-blue light of dusk on the leaf-littered ground. Shadows danced, hiding creatures of the night coming out for the Hunt. The wind was blowing softly, and a figure could be seen crouching behind a tree in waiting.

Grey was pumped, adrenaline shooting through his veins. He'd always loved this particular part of being out of the city, the rush of the Hunt was something to look forward to every night. He'd left Ikki back at the entrance of the Forrest to wait. He was so experienced in catching game; he wouldn't keep her waiting long. They were on their way back to Delphinor to stock on supplies and maybe relax for a bit with Demy. It'd been so long since he'd seen her last...

Grey was so lost in thought he almost missed the sound of the rabbit's feet. It flew just inches from his feet, and he shot out one of the leaves that scattered the ground. It sliced straight through the rodent's throat, killing it instantly. The rabbits in the Forrest were so much larger than the ones Oustide, they grew up to 3 ft long, enough for two people no doubt. He tied the feet up with twine and slung the limp body over his shoulder.

The sun was just setting, and the moon was rising. The silvery moonlight bathed everything in an even more eerie light than the gray of sunset. He'd have to leave soon, the bears and wolves would be after his kill. Scouting out the path, Grey made his way out, and to Ikki. Hah, looks like we'll be eating good tonight... He smirks to himself, picking up the pace.

Ikk i was waiting at the beginning of the forest. She played with her fingers as she waited. Grey was out in the forest trying to catch the dinner for them both. She wouldn't have went but since her speed wasn't the greatest she probably would have just slowed him down. Looking up seeing Grey walk out of the forest she smiled. "Ready to go...?". She asked pushing her self off of the tree walking over to meet him, also seeing the bunny in his hands.

The air of Salvation City was ripe with hidden agenda; so thick was it a blade could slice it in two. Under the constant flicker of damaged street lamps, Fowles strode confidently with his weapon in each hand down the vast street. Upon the corner, in the not so far distance, was the usual delinquent youths that forever opposed the New World Government, all huddled together.
The sharp blue eyes of the Flying Officer scanned the usual scum and villainy other than those now hurling abuse at the unpredicted patrol of Fowles:

" Liberty Crusher! " " Enslaver! " " Child Killer! " " Syndicate scum! " " Son of a-"

Enough was enough, it was time to get the black dressed youths to disperse and without another word, David's finger pulled on the trigger sending a round flying toward the group; close enough to scare, far enough to miss. It was only a few seconds before the kids had screamed and ran, their own wailings and abusive simply fading away into the ambience of distant sirens and sounds of crime happening.

The only reason Fowles was in the area at this time was because he was making his way down to Eterna, no vehicles had been available so he was ordered to go on foot. Alone.

Sitting alone on the bench as her amethyst-colored eyes stared at the moon that served as the light to the half of the world, the young lady continued to look at the dark sky above her. The moonlight that had been cast upon her form made her looked like an ethereal being. However, no one would see her at such a place. It was so calm and still that anyone would think that the figure sitting on the wooden seat was a ghost. Maybe, there was truth in that word. She must be a ghost or a monster as her parents have called her considering what she has become. In any way, she is completely isolated from people. This had allowed her to live in complete solitude.

Gazing at the sea of stars above her, it had always brought comfort to her in such a trivial way. No matter how hard reality was, once she stared at the night sky all of her sadness would dissipate in an instant. It was like magic in her term and she would not have it in any other way. That was when a firefly chose to interrupt her relaxing moment. The said insect had landed at the tip of her nose as it glowed in the midst of the thick blackness that surrounds her. Such a sight brought joy to her heart which garnered a gentle smile upon her lips, however it seemed to make her sneeze and the firefly flew away.

It saddened her a little bit, but it was inevitable. The firefly would have to fly away sooner or later just like what her parents had done to her. Halting such a line of thought, she focused on to the piece of paper on her lap. It had been there for some quite time now as she remembered her true intention in coming out of her cottage. She moved her graceful hands onto the paper with a pencil in hand sketching a place she had seen in her dreams these past few days. The meaning of such a vision had remained unknown to her but she felt that a drawing was needed for her to remember more clearly.

Moments continue to pass as she was now done with her work. It was a realistic art of a hallowed place. There was nothing on the picture that would suggest the presence of life. A barren wasteland was the only thing that can be seen, however there is a feeling of holiness emitting from it. Sighing, she removed her gaze from her sketch and decided to stop thinking about such things. It would only cause more headaches for her and she did not need one. Standing from her seat, the young lady had chosen to enter her abode and how she wished a familiar voice would call her to come in.

"Iris! You child, it is late! You should not be out there!"

However, it was all now a memory. The statement would only be played within her mind. Her mother's voice will not be heard by her in such a manner ever again. She was sure of that. Picking up all her things, she entered her cottage and with the gentle closing of her door. Iris was now inside her home alone for the last 8 years.

"Sure," Grey said, flashing a quick smile. The camp they'd established earlier was a little ways off, in a clearing behind the huge hills that adorned the landscape. Most would find the prospect of staying even one night in the chaotic void between towns as suicide; the creatures of the night were ruthless beings and their instincts were only sharpened by their hunger.

He found it a challenge.

The monster he was currently carrying was weighing him down immensely and would soon attract the hunters, though. Being quite unable to defend himself, he'd have to rely on Ikki to fend them off... She'd be a match for them, but not for long. He'd have to leave the kill behind, and fight for their lives.

That is, if they didn't get to camp in time. Which he very much planned to do.

"You coming? " Grey asked, suddenly breaking into a sprint. The faster they got out of here, the better. He didn't trust what lurked in the shadows.

~~~~~~~~~
Demytria Rivers was exhausted. After 5 hours of harvesting in these early weeks in Autumn during the hottest time of day, she was dehydrated, achy, and overall just tired. The only thing keeping her awake as she lay in her small bed was the note she'd gotten from Grey, saying they'd be in Delphinor soon.
Ah. She wondered sometimes what it was like to wander, to be free. From what he'd told her, it was miserable. But not as miserable as being hated by the ones you love, she thought sadly. Never.
Shunning such thoughts from blossoming any further, she looked out the window, for the 7th time that night. She saw nothing but the gray of dusk quickly becoming the dark, still blackness of night. Chances are she'd see the both of them tomorrow; he didn't really travel at night. Sighing, Demy rolled onto her side and forced her eyes shut.
~~~~~~~~

No way, no way. Sure, they'd been planning, but not for this . This was unexpected. But here it was, in all of its unbelieveable glory: a CD.

Not just any CD, of course. The CD that was top-secret Syndicate information, which The First had gotten their hands on through their spies.

Once they saw what it contained, it was no other choice to be made. They must prepare for the worst. The eradication of all of them was nigh. They sent out the order to barricade Eterna, even though the Syndicate would know immediately why they'd gone on defense. At this point, it did not matter.

The First refuse to lose; their dream of destroying the birthplace of their misery, pain and suffering would not die.

Ikki couldn't wait to get home and eat...she licked the tip of her fangs with the smirk as her stomach rumbled in protest to the length of time she had to wait to eat. She also couldn't stop thinking about Demy, she hadn't seen her in about three weeks, which was more then she wanted. 'You coming?'. She looked up to see that grey was already on the move. "Oh yea...I'll race you". She stretched out her wings flapping them once giving her a strong boost as she tree hopped above him.

The winds blew fiercely in sajann they howled n whispered agaisnt the tree. It was as the wind was to talking and telling the people of sajann something. Nar did not like windy weather because with wind even a small fire can grow into a big fire. As much as Nar loved his power he also feared the destruction his power possesed. Which made his family despise him. With a burst of flames Nar woke up again in the midle of the night. Nar never could never remember what his dreams were. But everynight he use to have them. And then he would lie awake cause he could not fall asleep after that. Nar finally decided that he was gonna leave sajann. He hasnt made up his mind where he would go, he wanted to leave sajann and forget all that has happened here in sajann. Nar lied there awake waiting for sunrise to arive, as he thought all the good memories of sajann which were few but good ones.

Taking her seat upon the couch, she made herself be at ease for a few minutes. Silence ruled her house that she was very much accustomed to. However, it was quite obvious that such an atmosphere echoed loneliness in every corner. The truth of the matter she had been truly sad being left alone in this cottage. But, she had nowhere else to go to and if she finally left this place then the only available option for her outside is to be treated as an outcast or joined her kind in rebellion. In any case, she was not fond of both ideas in many ways.

Closing her eyes as complete darkness enveloped her, thoughts of the past, present and future played within her mind. How she wanted to stop her psyche from thinking any further but she knew that was not possible for it was only reflecting her own worries. Sighing, she opened her eyes as she decided to fix something for her to eat. Entering the kitchen, she opened the cupboard and saw a couple of food supplies she can use to make some dinner. However, it would not last for the week so she needed to do some grocery shopping. That was the only time that she would live the safety of her cottage but it must be done.

"Well, I need to eat don't I...?"

With that said, she began preparing her meal; she also thought that she could sell some herbs that she had planted. After all, that was her main income. She was well known to be the source of very effective herbal medicines. So, she continued doing it for a source of living and it was not a bother for she loved anything that had to do with plants. Humming a melody that she was not certain where she had heard it from, however it did calm her nerves so she did not delve into it further.

"I wonder when everything will be alright..."

Iris muttered to herself as she looked at the meal she was preparing and took a deep breath. She must focus on the task at hand for now. It would relieve her of such worries for the meantime. Centering her attention in cutting the vegetables, she continued to hum a melody to herself as s small smile was upon her lips. Although, there was no assurance that such a n expression was truly what she feels within her.

"Cheater..." Grey muttered, speeding up. He was pretty far ahead of her now and starting to recognize the surroundings. He knew he wouldn't be able to keep up the lead though.

It's nice to have a break from everything, but it's too hard to concentrate while trying to make sure we don't run into an-

Too late. Just what he feared, just what he tried to avoid. An ambush. About 10 wolves, 5ft at the shoulder, sped out from the leafy cover of the forest to their right. Shining grey-blue eyes, bristling black and grey coats, razor sharp teeth like sharks. A very tense, malicious energy hung in the air like a black fog, clouding everything.

Grey knew Ikki was somewhere above him but also knew it was too dangerous to make any sound unless he wanted to die tonight. She should be okay unless she decided to jump down. Knowing her, she would, but he was fervently hoping that it wouldn't happen. Someone needed to tell Demy if the other didn't make it..

Ikki didn't notice that grey had stopped until she saw him from above. She started to hop down until she saw the wolfs eyes. "Shit!" She mumbled under her breath. She looked around and decided that she would create a distraction. Closing her eyes the air got a little colder...and colder...and colder. She knew wolfs hated the cold...and in hope they would flee. As dusk arrived, Nar got out of his hideout and embraced the cool, humid night. Nar always was fascinated with the sun, and every day took out time to watch the sunset and sunrise. As usual Nar got on top of the highest supporting branch of the tree and waited there for the sun to hit him. As the first ray of the sun hit him he felt an urge of energy inside him. Nar knew that he was gonna leave this place, but did not want to leave unprepared. So Nar decided to brush up on his fire techniques. Nar looked for somthing that would not catch on fire. Nar found a huge big cave in the outskirts of sajann.

"Hmmm i think this would be big enough"

Nar broke off a tree branch from a nearby tree and litted it on fire so he could see inside the cave.As he walked inside the cave, he felt the darkness looking upon him and grinning at him. Nar placed the branch nearby and took off his shirt and placed it neately on a nearby rock. As Nar was ready to start. He sensed somthing or someone behind him before he had the chance to turn around he felt a strong n fierce claw hit him on the right side of his rib. When he finally got to look at the atacker he found out it to be bear who froms the luks of it had been afected by the gas.

"It has been long"

"Guess this is gonna help me brush up"

Quickly Nar fear had turned into excitement and anxiousness. Nar pulled out a stick which had been given to him by his butler. Nar looked at the the engraved words on the stick

-Almaharibul Latalaqun Nar-(warrior of fire)

The stick had special qualities in it which made it caught on fire but never burn the stick itself. As Nar lighted his stick, he saw the bear was already making its move. He aslo rushed towards the bear....

Tips: 0.00 INK Postby Butterfly Princess on Tue Aug 04, 2009 8:44 am

After eating her dinner, she had begun cleaning up. It was quite delicious and suited to her taste buds. Why would it not? She was cooking only for herself anyway. Sighing, she was quite tired from the monotonous life she was having. However, she would not be able to take such hatred towards of what she has become. Especially the possibility of seeing her parents was dwindling every minute, she knew for a fact that sooner or later. The world would crumble and thus she would only be able to give medicinal help and assistance and nothing more. That was why she cannot leave her home. It was after all, the only place she can come back to.

Taking a look that everything was in place and when she was sure that nothing was a mess, she went upstairs to prepare for bed. It was definitely pass her usual bedtime. It was funny that she had placed herself on a curfew but it was a certain activity that reminded her of the family that had abandoned her in this hill. Dismissing such sad thoughts for now, she had entered her bedroom. Entering her adjacent bathroom, she began to clean up herself for the night. The cold water was upon her skin that made her flinched at first. After cleansing herself, she gazed at her reflection in front of the bathroom mirror.

She was not sure of the person she had seen before her. It was definitely different from the vibrant and lively girl of so many years in the past. She was nothing more but a shell that still clung on to a semblance of life. A living corpse, how sad it is to be called by such blame. Although, she cannot do anything about it as of now. Everything had changed and the only thing left to do is fight for survival.

Looking away from the mirror, she exited the bathroom and proceeded to her bed. Laying down the soft mattress, she can already feel the exhaustion accumulated by her body. It had made her very sleepy and pretty soon will be put into slumber. Taking a deep breath, she gazed at the ceiling above her. The thoughts filled with melancholy returned to her and she cannot have those. Closing her eyes, she willed her mind to stop from thinking anything further.

"I need to sleep..."

Iris spoke in such a soft tone that indicated that she was slowly fading from the conscious world. After a few moments, her eyes were shut tight for the night as she began her journey to the dream world to prepare herself for the events tomorrow.
