"I CAN'T BELIEVE THAT THE REGISTRATION DESK IS HERE! I PASSED THIS PLACE LIKE A GAZILLION TIMES..."
Koori shook her head, embarrassed of her own stupidity. "You baka..."
She quietly paced to the bamboo desk and pulled her naginata off her back, striking it down onto the dry earth, the shiny blade biting into grime. She leaned on her weapon and stared at the nin behind the desk.
The guard didn't seem to notice her from the shade of the booth. He just continued his work staring at bunch of yellowing papers on his desk, murmuring curses under his breath and occasionally swiping his hand over his forehead to wipe the sweat forming on his eyelids.
Realizing that the nin won't start the conversation, Koori subtly cleared her throat and the guard in return dully raised his head.
"Gomenasai sir," Koori apologised, a bright smile painted on her face, " but could I...I mean, can I sign up for the chunin exams?"
The nin clicked his tongue and pulled out three sheets of paper from under the desk. It was a hot July day, and with the lack of visitors passing the narrow alley the guard got too comfortable. He had his green chunin vest unbuttoned, showing off his sweaty under shirt with some form of masculine pride. His head gear was cast away on the edge of the booth, his greasy black hair now falling in clumps over his grumpy face without the support.
He shoved the papers at Koori and began giving her instructions in a painfully bored voice.
"You sign your name, age, village, everything that's stated on the paper. Also there are only 3 teams per village and only 3 members per team. You will not make any nuisance of any kind or you will be disqualified from the exam, which also goes for your team. You will not take any steroids (?) or suspicious substances of any kind or you will be disqualified. Since you're not from Konoha you will have to see Lady Tsunade, so that she finds you some residence in the village. And also, since you're not from Konohagakure you must pay a fee of 60 yen to participate."
Koori choked on her spittle as the guard mentioned the last rule.
"60 yen!?" She glared at him in disbelief. "But I don't have that kind of money!"
"Sorry kid." He said, yanking the papers back from her grip. "If you don't have money, you don't get to compete."
Koori bit her lip in frustration. Where was she going to get 60 yen? And the exams were going to start any day...she just had to get in. She couldn't stand to think that she was going miss all the action. After all, she hadn't had a decent fight in months, with the Akatsuki and all. No, she wasn't going to miss this chance. She was going to...
..........use my jutsu.
She groaned at her conclusion. Koori hated to use her jutsu in everyday life. It was the code, USE IT ONLY IN COMBAT OR EMERGIANCES.
...................This was an emergency right?
Ok, I declare that it's an emergency.
With a sigh she glanced up and down the street, checking to see that the coast was clear. When she was sure that they were alone, she cracked her knuckles and twisted out all of the cricks in her neck.
It's showtime...
Her torso suddenly sagged forward and she gave a shriek of pain, her hands flying to her eyes. The guard, having snapped back to reality by her horrid cries, rose up from his seat in alarm, leaning on his forehands to get closer to Koori.
"Kid, you ok?!"
She shook her head in denial, her hands hiding her eyes from the guard.
"No! I have a highly allergic reaction to dust and I think I got some grime in my eye! I could die if it stays in there..."
The guard jumped out of the booth in panic and grabbed Koori by the shoulders, forcing her hands down to look at her face.
"Where kid?! ‘Lemme see...."
With a sharp movement, her arms flew to her sides and she grinned, her now yellow eyes staring deeply into his black ones.
"Right here...OITE!"
She heard a low guttural sound emitting from his throat as she performed her jutsu, and then in a blink of an eye she was there.
In the endless realm of his mind.
Tampering with human minds was very dangerous and Koori knew that well. Only one insignificant mistake and she could kill him, making him forget how to breathe or maybe something even worse. Luckily, the poor bastard wasn't the smartest kind so she easily manoeuvred through the dark corridors, searching for the core of his memories.
She made a few left and right turns before reaching it, stopping to take in the view.
There is nothing more beautiful and frightening than the human mind, and the core was one of those wonders that made Kooris heart skip a beat.
The whole place was flooded with a crystal like silvery fluid. It shined brightly churning and mixing, the never-ending waves licking the soles of Kooris boots, staining them with white dust. She slowly stepped into the fluid and careful not to damage any memories walked through the water until it came up to her waist, her pants soaking with the liquid. Silently, she closed her eyes and with one hand reached into the silver substance, her lips twitching as she whispered the new alien memory over and over again.
Pay60yenIhavepayed60yenthankyoupay60haveyen..........
It seemed that she had been there forever when the fluid suddenly rippled with her chi.
Done.
"Auto!" she commanded, the room echoing with her voice.
She sighed with exhaustion as she found herself once again in the real world, the hot breeze cooling her sweat drenched clothes.
The nin stared unblinkingly for a few seconds, then shook his head in confusion.
"Erm... are...you ok now?" he asked, squinting his eyes in thought.
"Hai! Thank you very much!"
He made a few more twitching movements with his head before circling the booth to sit down, his face in expression of deep concentration. Koori gave him a few moments of silence to recollect his thoughts and pulled her naginata out of the ground, carefully placing it back into her sheath on her back. He pushed the papers back to her, his dull expression back on his features once more.
"So do you wanna sign these papers or not?"
