With the opening shots of war commencing elsewhere in known space, a Sovereignty diplomatic probe dropped out of FTL near the borders of the Red Technocracy. The probe would be at the vanguard of a diplomatic task force, and the probe went first to ensure the safety of the mission.
OOC: Doesn't have to be great...

The probe was picked up a lone, unmanned monitoring station of the type that swamped the borders of the Red Technocracy. Sensing that the object in question had considerable EM and Thermal signatures, it's internal AI systems put two-and-two together, and the Station sent a Wide-Frequency Hail. The quality of the hail was rather battered, due to a small meteorite strike on the station, but it was still understandable, as only the unarmored Main Communications array had been damaged, after all.
This is the... ...echnocracy monitoring stationnn 00067654-K, unknown ship, please state your Identification and hold position until due time when you are notified. Entering further into Red Technocracy space will be considered a hostile action unless cleared for entry.
In the sprawling Command center of the Red Fleet, high over the planet of Moska, the Capital of the Red Technocracy, a lone monitoring station was reporting picking a single contact. The operator of the remote station watched his screen, and waited for a return hail from the unknown ship.

The probe's makers considered the request carefully, and the probe's algorithms picked the appropriate message.
"This is a Diplomatic Probe from the Tripolitanian Sovereignty. We will be sending civilian vessels as part of a diplomatic mission, if the people of your nation will consent to receive them."

Hearing that this was the same fleet who had caused the small disturbance with the 12th Destroyer Fleet, a widely known exploration force throughout the Red Technocracy, the remote operator paused for a minute, and then yelled for the commander.
General, we have a situation with one of the Southern Border Zones!
The General got up from his uplink, a cybernetic interface device, and walked down the stairs to and across the carpeted floor to the station in question. He was interested by the fact that the "Tripolitanian Sovereignty" as they were know from the Destroyer fleet's communications post boarding, had come on a diplomatic mission. Since they seemed of non-hostile intent, he gave the operator the permission to take over this situation, and returned to his uplink.
Let them through, and parse the Southern Military Zone that we have foreigners.
The operator did as he was told, relaying the information that they were clear to pass and that they would be receiving an escort, back to the probe. He also parse the Southern Military District, telling them to send a small escort fleet to intercept the flight path of the Tripolitanian Sovereignty ships.
You are cleared for entry, transmitting Travel Visas and Temporary IDs now. At the 800 AU mark towards the Novosibirsk Administrative Capital, an escort group will intercept.

The diplomatic mission, receiving a clear from the probe, executed their jump. Transit was uneventful until the spacecraft emerged into realspace.
One dagger-shaped old-gen cruiser, of the previous generation; emerged from realspace, escorted by eight corvettes in a box around the cruiser. The shapes traversed their weapons to face outwards. Corvettes placed a greater weight of fire in their particle beam emitters, since putting an excess of guns with FTL capability strained the limits of storage space, and putting FTL in smaller guns was pointless. Corvettes had six guns, three dorsal-spinal and three ventral-spinal, that were heavy enough to be FTL capable, plus twelve DP mounts (four for port dorsal/ventral quarters, starboard dorsal/ventral quarters) designed to engage fellow corvettes, smaller cutters, and fighters, supported by small point defense mounts suited to cutters and fighters.
The cruiser was an older-generation model of hull, re-engined and rewired with exquisite care as if Tripolitania never intended to throw anything out. Modular systems design made it easy to strip and rewire electronics, modular skin design made it easy to de-skin a ship for armor upgrades or access interior components, standardized compartment modules allowed for changing ship areas (like the Bridge or turret mounts), keeping old hulls in service until they were destroyed or beyond cost-effectiveness in saving.
Generally ships were deployed obsolete because of the difficulty and cost of rewiring, but the new construction techniques allowed for old ships to be stripped of their obsolete systems and quickly brought up to spec. It was never quite as good as having a brand new vessel under one's feet, but leaps and bounds better than deploying with last-generation fire control.
It was generally accepted that the difficulty in building and upgrading ships lay in the time it took to put a hull together, and with the interchangeability of a LEGO™ the cruiser had been re-plated and re-turreted to bring it into like-new condition.
This particular heavy cruiser was similarly laid out to the smaller corvettes, which in turn followed standard Sovereignty naval design. Dagger or diamond shapes with the heaviest guns along the dorsal and ventral leading edges. On hulls large enough to support it, their sides would be studded with the heaviest guns, emplaced such to provide good arcs of fire to the prow, side, and perhaps better coverage to the rear than common with the hulls of other fleets. This widened the head-on profile of a Sovereignty ship, but it was felt that the joining of most of the port and starboard guns to prow weapons gave them an incredible advantage in head-on combat at close range.
The un-turreted mounts on an armored cruiser were equally impressive. Off-bore heavy anti-ship torpedo launchers were mounted in casemates along the port-most and starboard-most edges of the ship, along with missile batteries in armored VLS clusters.
Interspersed around the heavy turrets and leading edges of the heavy cruiser were lighter mounts, designed to engage escort vessels such as cruisers to frigates. In turn, smaller DP mounts would tear up anything smaller, from corvettes down. The sunlight cast the populated hulls of the old ships with various turret-shaped shadows, as they swept their peripheral arcs for contacts.

It was at this point also that the Red Technocracy escort fleet arrived. They were not expecting something of this strength to be on a simple diplomatic mission, and the escort fleet was just that, a simple fleet of Frigates and One Dreadnought.
Of course the Dreadnought itself was quite impressive, cresting over 2 Kilometers long and armed with enough weaponry to be something entirely of it's own right. There were 8 Main guns, four mounted on the bow and four on the stern, placed two-by-two opposite of each other. But it was the bore of these weapons that made them so fearsome, they fired shells as tall as a man, roughly six feet, but with a small change to the design that allowed only Technocracy guns to fire them, making ammunition dumps useless the enemy.
But unlike the sleek dagger and triangle shapes of the Tripolitian ships, the Technocracy traded sleekness for heavy armor belts and layers of shielding that allowed them to shrug off heavier attacks with ease... For a while, anyways.
The Dreadnought looked like of all things, a floating brick with multiple indentions and walkways on the side of the ship, with strategically placed armor plating over large sections of the ship. So it would be more a Streamlined brick, then a normal brick. But it hit like a brick none the less, with it's massive main guns and multiple minor weapons studded along it's hull, hidden in industrial crevasses and mounted on extending pieces of the hull.
The cruisers looked most the same, but much more sleek and with more plating per foot of external space. This was the way of Red Technocracy Military Logistics, easily maintained and replaced parts that did not work for the enemy.
[b]The Bridge of the Dreadnought[/u]
[i]The captain opened a channel with the fleet, and started with his introduction.
Hello NTS vessels, I am Captain Gregory of the 2nd Escort Fleet. Welcome to Red Technocracy Space. I'll be guiding your fleet to Novosibirsk for the next 800 AU, just follow our FTL signiture.
With that, the captain stopped and waited for the NTS ships to reply. The Helmsman was waiting for his command to jump to FTL, and Primary Gunner Controller was targeting the Ship's main weapons, just in case. To prevent hostilities from this action, the guns were point above and below the NTS ships, ready to fire a warning shot and nothing else.

"This is Tripolitanian Cruiser Cadiz . Provide coordinates, and we will execute the jump in tandem with your vessels. Out."
The Red Technocracy dreadnaught loomed nearby, passive EMR sensors picking up the rough shape of the vessel, and perhaps a few stray power emissions and nothing more. Spinal weapons at fore and aft were duly noted, but it was difficult to pick out the secondary batteries. Regardless, dorsal and ventral turrets on their vessel would be notably pronounced, and were a very good first target in the event of a firefight. Rumors spoke of new-bloc vessels where this particular anomaly was remedied, but that was a long way in coming, when this particular ship was slated to go into the docks for a refit.

Coordinates are 90-045-345:34-345-454:50-874-002, prepare to Jump. Dreadnought Admiral Trinaz Out.
The Captain turned to the Helmsman, who was in his cybernetic uplink chair, and gave the command to jump. Since the introduction of Uplink Command Systems, ships of the Red Technocracy had actually increased crew levels, contrary to what some nations had done. The reasoning behind this was that with command taking less people, more marines and other combat and gunnery troops could be stationed on each ship, and the number had actually risen beyond simply replacing personnel.
The entire fleet jumped at once, leaving a blinding flash of radiation and light energy in it's wake.

The Sovereignty vessels jumped in tandem, hurtling through transit with the Red Technocracy vessels. On board the ships, weapon systems cycled through drill motions and diagnostic cycling. Repair droids scuttled about in the silent corridors of the heavy cruiser. Transit would be upon them soon, and realspace entry was fairly gentle, in a relative sense. The Sovereignty vessels maintained their formations upon realspace re-entry, and in a second or so the radiation levels would clear enough to permit passive scans.

The Escort Fleet kept their sensors trained on the NTS vessel's as they entered transit, picking up barely anything due to the interference and speeds. As the fleet exited from transit in front of the Novosibirsk Military Station, a barrage of sensors and weapon range finders met them, as the entire garrison aimed at the FTL signatures
This is Novosibirsk Military Station, Welcome NTS ships, please dock using bay 3.

The Sovereignty escorts were a few miliseconds from raising shields, before the temporary over-rides kicked in. As a diplomatic mission, shields would probably lead to their deaths, and perhaps open a second front for a war, a second front that was best not opened. The words "just be good" , while a little patronizing, were actually quite relevant to the situation. All ships activated jammers just below the skin of their vessels, at low enough power settings to prevent espionage, without interfering with the local's targeting systems.
"Novosibirsk, cruiser acknowledges. Out."
The Sovereignty vessels moved as a unified body towards the specified bay...
OOC: I suppose a brief description of Novosibirsk would help...

General Dimitri watched from his viewpoint in the central cupola of the Novosibirsk station, as the the NTS ships docked in the cavernous third landing bay. He smiled as he though of the diplomatic meeting ahead, and how it would bring forth another reason for him to rubber stamp his activation as a Fleet General.
The station itself was over 100 kilometers long and very wide, but the geometry gets hard to describe from this point. There were huge sleek sections holding the reactors and other things, along with myriad land bays, and there were sections of nothing but metal and patchwork welding, reflecting the patchwork nature of the later construction over the original station and the reuse of materials. To put it the best I can, it looked rather a like a giant pine tree that did not taper and had large sections of armor plate.
Inside the bay, which was a over a good five kilometers wide, a smaller bay was evident, a docking place for shuttles and smaller transports ferrying to and from the larger ships docked. There were multiple Laser and Optical Guiding Ion turrets inside the bay, along with a variety of signal enhancers and counter-jammers, to make sure nothing disrupted the comm traffic for other people docked there. Looking out one of the bays hundreds of Lexan windows, stood a group of Diplomats and Officers in Dress Uniforms, that standard diplomatic forces for these occasions.

The corvettes remained undocked, the heavy cruiser docking and retaining it's weapons in the overwatch position. The corvettes did not dock, and all vessels stood by to implement Sovereignty Emergency Egress protocols in the event of an unlikely double-cross.
On board the Cruiser, the serried ranks of Combat Drones remained docked in their alcoves, with a quartet obeying the summons, unfolding powerfully-built arms with an intimidating amount of firepower.
The Ambassador took a confident stride from his quarters to the Boat Bay, a pair of Power Armored Marines keeping his head at their shoulders. Feeling a little intimidated in powered Light Armor, he took it in stride, understanding that diplomacy sometimes was a game of intimidation.
The Combat Drones joined them, their forms shadowing the Marines. The low bass of their hover repulsors caused the deck plates to vibrate as the Marines traversed the docking umbilicals for direct boarding of a Navy Pinnace for embarkation to the Red Technocracy station.

Waiting behind the heavy inner seal of the docking airlock, stood the entire diplomatic party, an assortment of representatives covering all aspects of the Red Technocracy and it's massive boarders. They were from all over know space, here at the Novosibirsk station because of their duties or just chacne,
The diplomat of this group, a Red Technocracy Field Marshal from the Southern Front, stood in the front of the formation of officers, dressed in his finest Military Dress. The harsh lighting of the room made the white, and rather reflective uniform, shine eerily, getting in your eyes and general making the Marshal hard to look at.
He was flanked by civilian personnel and minor officers, a variable sampling of the Red Technocracy's bureaucracy.
And behind the group of minor officers, there was the group of marines in their parade armor, a light powered armor that was painted a bright white and gilded on the edges. They also held plasma rifles, but they not a threat, and the long and ornate design of these made them very hard to fire.

Standard docking protocols minimized the use of ship-to-ship docking ports in foreign space, ostensibly to control the flow of traffic and to minimize the possibility of attacks. The Pinnace departed with it's cargo and docked. Two power-armored Marines ducked before stepping into the light, perhaps head and shoulders higher than other armored figures. One hefted an belt-fed light anti-tank cannon, the other, a short-barrel plasma minigun, also belt-fed with auxillary fission pack.
The four drones emerged next, forming a protective box around the ambassador. As the ambassador stepped past the docking clamp guarded by the Marines, the drones dropped their protective fields around the ambassador, who removed his helmet and bowed his head to the assembly.
"Greetings. I am Ambassador Ka'Tet of the Tripolitanian Sovereignty. I am...troubled, by reports of diplomatic intercourse with our sworn foes."

The Ambassador for the Red Technocracy steeped forward as the Heavy Airlock seal slid open, hissing quietly. He took note of the Heavy Marine forces, and military armor of the Trapolitian Ambassador, and thought that these people must really paranoid; This was a diplomatic mission, but still, Marines and Combat drones in a peaceful confrontation?
He cleared his throat, and started on an induction of his own. His accent was thickly Russian, and kept his hands folded in front of him as he talked.
Welcome to Novosibirsk Station, I am Field Marshal Ivanov Fyrderov. We have much to talk about... And we would like to remain Neutral until war is called for, there is nothing to worry about, we are firmly on your side, when and if our forces are drawn in.

"I...see. Then I apologize for my impudence."
Still bowing, he spread his arms out in front of him.
"Do not perceive my visit as a sign of our lack of trust, honoured friends. Just an observation on our side. In wartime, a nation which invests time in checking on its friends is oft well-rewarded. And with that clarification of your position out of the way, we should get down to more pressing business..."

The Field Marshal looked at the NTS ambassador, and smiled. Things were going well. In return to his Bow, the Marshal Saluted, and then loosened up considerably in his conversation.
"Do you plan on staying here? we have rooms prepared. Or should we move along to the Diplomatic issues immediately? Whatever your choice, it's fine with me, and if we have time, I would like to show you the food we have here. It's quite good for a space station.

"I would like a tour, if you would. If I have nothing to fear from you, I will send my guards back to my ship."
The ambassador blinked. And with a thought, the drones departed from him, receding back towards the docking portal with the silence of ghosts, aside from the light hum of countergrav units. The Marine guards remained outside the portal, scanning the area in multiple wavelengths, sound, gravimetric and magnetic sensors.

"That can be provided, just follow me. Now, do you want to see the bridge or the residential district first?"
The field Marshal turned towards the exit, and motioned for both his own and the Sovereignty group to follow him with a quick gesture of his hand. He walked towards the exit, which was a heavy Steel pressure door. His group of Officers and other people flanked him.
OOC: My writing is sucky today. Sorry
