[The Zealots] This group of individuals believe that it is time for those with supernatural abilities to throw away the old ways of hiding in plain sight, carrying out their lives in secret and overtake those who are the weaker species - human beings. There is any number of things that can be done with humans once they are overthrown as the dominant species of the planet - they'd be a fantastic food supply for some, breeding stock for others, and still others think turning them into mindless slaves sounds like a brilliant idea.
[The Hardliners] These individuals believe that a specific species of supernatural should be in charge of all the other species (typically they believe that their individual species is by far superior to all others, although this is not always the case). They seek to put their most capable species leaders in charge of all the city operations, but unlike the first faction, they wish to use their supernatural abilities sparingly, letting the humans believe they are still in control of the situation, and letting them remain ignorant that those who are behind the scenes are true, literal monsters.
[The Mainstreamers] This group is attempting to share control of the city with all the supernatural species as equally as possible, but otherwise, is much like the Hardliner Faction.
[The Uninvolved/Neutral] These guys are just doing their best to keep their heads down and establish "safe havens" for those members of their own species (or morals) that are in danger of being harmed or killed by members of opposing factions.
This is typical politics, yes? Unfortunately, that thing about oblivious people that I wrote about up above? Oh. Not so much. Don't get me wrong - most of the people in the city truly are completely ignorant of the dangerous creatures that share the limits of their city with them. But some? Some are starting to figure out that something's up. Some have seen things they shouldn't have seen, some have abilities (or disabilities) that allow them to discover supernatural individuals, some are raving lunatics who think maybe something's up, but have no proof. What happens if they start trying to discover information about supernatural creatures? What happens if they try to actually kidnap or kill some of these individuals?
Can the disparate groups of supernatural individuals work together for their own protection? Or will they simply sacrifice their enemies to those humans who know something is up in order to let themselves get ahead in the game and to further their agenda?
I plan to use the supernatural entities found in World of Darkness, but a much easier system than what is really used in the tabletop or LARP version. The beings that it is possible to be are as follows -
Individuals who for some reason have become unable to venture out in daylight and must drink human blood in order to retain some semblance of life. There are different types of vampires, each with their own abilities and their own weaknesses.
Vampires each choose 2 “typical” abilities and one “specialized” ability. They are as follows :
Typical Abilities:
Animalism: The power to commune with and command animals.
Celerity: The ability to move at incredible speeds with uncanny precision.
Obfuscate: The power of hiding oneself by clouding the minds of the weak.
Resilience: The ability to withstand crippling injury without submitting.
Vigor: The ability to manifest supernatural strength, far beyond a mortal's scope.
Specialized Abilities:
Auspex: Preternatural sensitivity and ability to read auras.
Dominate: Once catching a weaker-willed individual’s eyes, you can command them to follow your orders unless they go against their basic beliefs (a good person won’t kill in cold blood, a person won’t walk in front of a moving vehicle, etc)
Majesty: A commanding sway of emotions and the predatory manipulation of the weak in this way.
Nightmare: The ability to evoke sheer terror by exploiting a person’s greatest fears
Protean: The ability to assume a variety of forms such as a wolf or a mist, the ability to sleep in earth of any type if caught outside when the sun rises.
Individuals with an ability to alter the world around them to their own specific wants and needs. Must be careful - performing too much magic without the proper precautions can cause severe damage.
Mages take one of the following sets of specialties:
Time, Fate, and Natural Forces (Gravity, energy, etc)
Space, Mind, and Matter
Matter, Death, and Spirit
Forces, Prime (the raw, untapped power of magic), and Death
Life, Spirit, and Mind
Individuals who can turn into wolves at will - they can also communicate with spirits. Werewolves have 5 forms into which they can change : Human, Mostly Human, Half Wolf/Half Human, Mostly Wolf, and Wolf.
Werewolves fall into 5 different categories, giving them each their own strengths. The are as follows:
Warrior : anywhere from a blood-thirsty maniac to a strategic master. Powerful individuals when come up against in physical combat.
Visionary : Priests and Oracles, the spiritual leaders of their people. Capable of giving them hope when all hope is lost, and of forgiving sins committed against others.
Walker Between : The judges and juries of Werewolf life - they weigh decisions carefully and can often act as mediators in supernatural disputes, as they choose not to take sides, even judging against their own people.
Spirit Master : Shamans, medicine men, those capable of communing with the spirit world.
Stalker : Spies and Assassins of the werewolf world.
Individuals who have been taken from their homes by faeries and have been altered by the world in which they were held captive. Some were slaves, some were turned into plants or animals, some were kept as playthings - but all were prisoners. When they finally escaped (or were released from their servitude by their masters), they made their way home only to discover that whatever happened to them in Arcadia has changed them permanently. Only supernatural beings can see their true shapes, humans see them as human-looking individuals.
Changelings fall into 6 basic categories:
Beasts : Individuals who have animal characteristics mixed with human. Range from Deer to Fish, from snakes to insects and anywhere inbetween
Darklings: Individuals with an affinity for the darkness - excellent spies
Elementals: The embodiment of elements - earth, air, water, fire, metals, sand, even plastics.
Fairest : Often beautiful, but often deadly, as well.
Ogres: All varieties of monstrous individuals
Wizened : The witches and wizards of the Changeling world.
These individuals have been physically created - think Golems, or Frankenstein’s Monster. Their only goal in life is to be as much like humans as possible - they believe that by becoming more human-like, they will achieve true humanity. The only supernatural creatures who were born monsters and have the chance to become human.
Prometheans are from 5 different “types” and practice one of 5 different beliefs. They are as follows:
Types of Prometheams:
The Wretched - much like Frankenstein’s monster, these individuals are often made of mis-matching body parts that on occasion can cause the individual to dream of lives in which they never lived, but which their bodies did.
Muses: Beautiful individuals who want companionship more than anything else.
Nepri : Incomplete bodies - anywhere from a missing heart to a missing toe. They believe themselves to be children of the gods.
Golems : These individuals are, above all else, free. They reject slavery in all forms and fight to free all others who may be oppressed.
Riven: From stories in which Shamans had their spiritual bodies ripped apart by spirits and then brought back together piece by piece - if for some reason, the ceremony went awry? The result was the Riven.
Belief Systems:
\Study of Humanity : Humans are to be carefully watched and studied if one is to become a human. This can be anything from attending church, to cold-blooded murder and dissections.
Control of the Self : The way to become human is to gain complete control over one’s own body and mind.
The Way of the Warrior: Practice refining their bodies to be the protectors humans need when the time comes.
Divine Fire : Prometheans are given life by something called the Divine Power, which these individuals believe must be understood before a Promethean can achieve a soul.
Revenge: These individuals believe that revenge is the most human of all emotions and seek to learn about being human by punishing those who wrong them.
And, of course, the humans. Who are, well, human. Humans typically have stable homes, jobs, responsibilities, etc.

Please note that I have taken some liberties with White Wolf’s system - making it easier to use, and stripping out the parts that I deem unnecessary. Please forgive me if you are familiar with the system and take offense - it’s just to make things easier for those who don’t know the system.
A few rules for those of you who will be joining the group -
1. Be literate. Start your sentences with capital letters, use proper punctuation, and treat the English language with a bit of respect. Your characters can speak in slang or text in txt talk all they want - but you as the narrator need to have control over the English language at all other times.
2. I’m not putting a post limit down - sometimes, it’s almost impossible to write a very long response, particularly when you’re leaving a scene or just entering a scene. However, that being said, I’m not going to put up with someone who just posts one-liners repeatedly. I will warn, then reprimand, then ask you to leave the group. I will then take over control of your character or give them to someone who can follow the rules.
3. If you are having a conversation between two characters and both players are online, instead of posting a large amount of short posts, please PM one another and then have a single person post the entire conversation. I also hear you can do something like this in the chat room, although I’m unaware because I’ve never used the chat on this site.
4. Be logical. Don’t make your vampire character frolic around in the daylight, don’t make your human character so awesome that they can best the oldest, biggest, baddest monsters. Remember - despite the fact that some of these monsters aren’t bad guys, they aren’t human and will not act as if they are. To even the kindest supernatural being, humans are dangerous - they’re cunning, they’re sneaky, and they’re everywhere - in the same way that only the dumbest monster would reveal themselves to be more than human to Joe Schmoe walking home from work, a human who says, “That guy’s a vampire! I’m going to go kill him now! Alone!” is not going to last very long.
5. Once again, these individuals are monsters, and even some humans are monsters. If you have something disturbing you want your character to have an affinity for doing, that’s fine - HOWEVER, be respectful of others. If someone voices a concern about something your character chooses to do, don’t get angry, don’t be mean, and don’t ignore their concerns. Either explain or fix the situation. And keep everything to a PG-13 level - otherwise take it to PMs.
6. Speaking of concerns, if you have any issues with another individual, please speak with them. In PM. If you’re uncomfortable confronting them, PM me. I’ll do it. I don’t mind being the bad guy. Don’t call one another out in the OOC, and DON’T talk OOC in the IC. At all.
7. Respect other people’s characters - don’t god-mod, don’t kill them without the two of you working it out together beforehand, etc.
8. Take what characters you can control, but don’t take more than you can handle. And be sure to respond to any scenes your character is involved in - I recommend that if there are a number of posts between the one you are replying to and your reply, quote them. For example :
Dan and Sally are having a scene together, as are Bill and Heidi. Sally posts a reply to Dan’s most recent post, but before Dan can reply, Bill, Heidi, and Susan all post. Instead of simply replying to Sally’s post, Dan quotes Sally’s most recent post in his new reply, making it easier to follow the storyline.
9. Have fun. Enjoy yourself - just because it’s a storyline about monsters doesn’t mean it has to be all doom and gloom.
10. Any questions or concerns? Please PM me. And please PM me if you are going to be missing from the group for any extended period of time.
11. Final rule. Please rate one another's posts and please rate them fairly. I, for one, believe that ratings can let people know when their work is subpar as well as let them know when they're doing well. So please use the system accordingly.
The character creation form is as is written below. Please fill it out and PM it to me. Once accepted, you may post it into the OOC.
