And yet ANOTHER RP. It's like my ideas are spewing! ANYwho...
Yes, this is a futuristic pirate role play. And by futuristic, I don't mean space-age with complicated weapons and all that stuff. If you have ever heard of the movie "Treasure Planet", it's going to be a little like that, except with no aliens per se, but there will be odd-looking humanoids. Also, there will be no voyaging into outer space. By futuristic I mean that ships will be sailing faster because they will be powered with jets, like enormous speed-boats. There will also be a wider range of races to chose from for a character, and people will have a generally better knowledge of health issues, like scurvy. This means that pirates won't necessarily be stinky, nasty, sickly beasts of men/women, depending on what condition their captain wants to keep them in. The well-being of the crew mostly relies on their captain, but the captain's power is solely based on the loyalty of their crew.
With all that said, I suppose I should give you a basic glimpse of the storyline: Of course, pirates are only pirates due to their lust for wealth and money. In this age, the Age of Golden Sails, piracy is at its peak. Whether it's in the form of small plunders or unearthing treasure, they are thriving. Though with so many ships sailing on the seas, it is difficult to determine which captain and crew is worth the title of "pirates". Captain Ackart Goroh, one of the most infamous and wealthy pirates in history, was full aware of this. Just days before he disappeared at sea, he left a message at Sea Port Orion, one of the largest ports in the world. It was a scroll of his handwriting that was later sent to the governor of the city. It stated that Captain Goroh left different pieces of a map a the seven corners of that world. When all pieces were gathered and put together, they would reveal the location of a lost city that was supposedly crafted in gold, platinum, silver, and diamonds, and sheltered a temple that is believed to be filled to the brim with sacred relics and jewels that were worth a hundred times their weight in the coin currency of the world. The governor of New Port, the city where the message was sent, was infuriated that the pirate Captain dared to leave his propaganda in the city, and had copies of it made and posted about the town. Though, he did make one change: on the bottom of the paper, he added his own message to any pirate that read it. It stated that any pirate that he discovered was planning to pursue the pieces of the map would be immediately reprimanded and hung in the town square. It turns out the governor used that to urge the pirates to start their journey, but only so he could send out his own fleet of ships with his most trusted captains to follow the pirates to the pieces of the map so he could claim the wealth for himself, in hopes of his city becoming the wealthiest and most powerful in the world.
Aha, so it IS a treasure hunt! For the moment I am looking for people to play the following roles (character limit is at two):
~Players~
Pirate Captains (Accepting): River-Koi (Sophia Dumisani), Mikey Wheels (Argus Raleigh)
Fleet Captains (Accepting): Phidius (Fleet Admiral Drake Durham)-- [Will be one of the captains sent by the governor to either follow or attack the pirate ships before they reach the map piece]
First Mate (Accepting): [Will be the most trusted member of either of the captains' crew]
Crew (Accepting): [Someone from New Port or anywhere else that is eventually convinced to accompany either captain on their voyage]
Citizen (Accepting): Paprika (Adelaide ‘Adela’ Zurita), Alice.Larson (Duchess Jacqueline Marie DuCant)--[Someone who might be kidnapped by the pirates and brought with them to deter the Royal Fleet from attacking their ship; should be from a wealthy family]
Other Roles (Accepting): Light Mario (Jack Orson, Thief), OIL (Karel, Medical/Fighter Robot)
Now, keep in mind, anyone who is a member of the Royal Fleet is corrupt in a way, and won't usually follow the commands sent by the governor. They are like pirates themselves--the crew follows the Captain's orders only, and the Captain will most likely follow their own judgment. Also, messages are sent rather quickly through the power of honing devices, which are basically small jet powered aerodynamic objects that lock onto a ship's energetic coding (something like an internal bar code that all ships are built with). Traveling does not take as long as it usually would in the old days, so ships will be making frequent stops at numerous ports around the world. I am planning to start the RP at the point where pirates arrive at Sea Port Orion and notice the messages posted in various places. And please, for the love of all that is good, no fluffy-cuddle-buddy characters. And sorry, but I will not allow captains or any characters of the higher statuses to be under the age of 21. No god-modding, chat speak, injuring characters without consent, etc... I allow romance and violence, but not to the point of being impractical. Dialogue should lean more towards old-days dialect. The basic rules of nearly every RP apply. I expect you to be LITERATE. Your character profile will provide me with a sample of your writing, so make it in-depth.
