What do the icons to the left of threads mean? Yes, those.

What do the little icons next to threads (on their left) mean? I know the red tinted ones mean new unread posts and the blue tinted ones mean no new unread posts, but what's the difference between one that is scrolling and one that is still?
Most Awesome Roleplay Ever

If the first casualty of war is truth, then what is the cost of a crusade against terror? Perhaps it's the knowledge that in order to eradicate evil, we must begin to emulate the evildoer. And if you label your enemy "evil" long enough, you justify even the most immoral act as noble. Jeff Stetson

I think ones with the text scrolling means that there is a lot of active, rapid-posting going on in that thread. A still-one means that people aren't posting as quickly. I think.

Actually, I'm pretty sure it means that the still one is when there is only one page, the one that is scrolling has more then one page of posts. I don't know though, I could be wrong.

Yeah. Actually, I think you're right. I just looked around at the posts, and it matches. =p

[EDIT:]
Actually, no it doesn't. Check out the one for, "The Outcast Kids[[Restart/OOC]] ".

Everyone is wrong actually. If it's moving, it means someone is browsing through the section of the roleplay. If it's still, no oe's browsing that section.

I really don't know, that was just my guess, it doesn't matter much to me anyway.

I said section. That means Realistic roleplay and others. If the page for here those roleplays are, which is accesssed via the Forum is being browsed, the thing moves. This section isn't being browsed, obviously.

... Uh, then how come, if you go to the main 'home' part of the forum, and click on a 'section' -- such as Realistic Roleplay, like you used an example, you see forums that have their icons moving and still?

Shouldn't they all be the same?

And wouldn't having what you've suggested as the function of the moving topics be a little ... useless? I mean, how does that help the person looking at the icon itself?

I don't know all of it. If you want to get technical, talk to Remaeus. I only know about the section topics. Whether the individual topics move or not is a mystery to me. I'm just trying to do my best to supply an answer to a question.
