Why I Left My Forum ( )

Postby Remæus on Tue Dec 18, 2007 2:15 pm

We've all been to countless forums and engaged the community on varying levels. Some of these experiences were (and still are) good and memorable, while others forced us to leave... with a bad taste in our mouths.

So what drove YOU to leave that forum? Do you have a story to share about your misfortune on that forum?

Please, do so here!

No bashing: if you have a quarrel or problem with a forum, please explain the history of the issue.

Before I started hanging out regularly around here I roleplayed on Gaiaonline. It was fun for a while, until I got my bearings in the rp world. :) However all the vampire, werewolf and Naruto roleplays there were not quite what I wanted. Only rarely did one see a thread with a different topic and they died quite soon.

So I came back here and so far it's been great. :D

RPG Chat... I was one of the origional members.. I still visit every now and then.

I ended up leaving once the rules of the website changed.. they took the chatroom down and tore apart all of the rules..

It lead to many people quitting... Less activity.. and now a somewhat drama-filled site -_-;

Anyone else from there? I'm maxamillion.

Remaeus pretty much knows my story already. Mine is very similar to his.

I was part of Anime Metro, with the same name I have now. The site was much like this one in the beginning, where everyone knew everyone, and members were joining left and right. Soon, it got so big, no one knew anyone, and it just went downhill from there. Post quality plummeted, fun plummeted, and it just wasn't a pretty sight. Rules were changed, etc., etc. I don't want to go too much into personal details.

When this site was started, I tinkered around with it, but never got serious about it until a few months ago. I am so glad I decided to get involved here.
Today, Friday, October 10, 2009, is my last day on RolePlayGateway.com.
Everyone give me lots of love, because I shall be handing lots out. <3

I was originally a part of Neoseeker, a well respected site, and still is. I was on it for two years and made good friends with lots of people. I had no choice but to abandon it b/c of it being blocked by the local Board of Education, not by it going bad or anything. Since I have no computer at home, I use school computers, so when it got blocked, I was forced to look elsewhere. I found this site through Google and have been having a good time since I joined. Still miss Neo though.

As with Eric and Dani, I hail from AnimeMetro. I originated as a simple user in a wonderful community that eventually went to shit. I was eventually made a Moderator, but resigned in protest when a fellow mod was penalized for using his position to enforce the rules of RP. I was banned on several occasions for refusing to obey RP-crippling rules (not helped by an ever-decreasing location to RP within the site). I kept returning because it was the only thing I knew, and was very reluctant to leave the people I'd started RolePlaying with. Eric solved that problem by setting up GWing, and it's been peachy e'er since.

When it comes my day to die.

Like Eric, Dani, and Justin I used to Roleplay on AnimeMetro. I don't RP there anymore but I still drop by there regularly to see how things are. AM was my first forum so a part of me still resides there. After the fall of the Fighter's Guild, RPing kind of went downhill for me on AM. And Dani's right, there was a point in time where I knew most of the people that were active on AM, but then more and more people started pouring in. It's just not the same anymore over there. So I went from AM >> GWing >> RPGateway. My alias on AM is Allenby_biazury.

I didn't leave mine...Atrumignem Arcis.

First forum that I actually RPed in...and it was taken down by AvidGamer, as far as I know from the original creator of the Site.

Apparently, AvidGamer didn't bother telling the people affected by their takedowns and removed them before the contents of such sites could be removed.

However, a new Atrumignem Arcis is now active...which is on Proboards.

A Fallen Warrior am I, as I lay upon my back, knowing as I raise my eyes to the skies, as I lose the battle of my life, that I will never see again...those that I love. Blood and tears flow gently down my face as I await the final judgment...knowing that I am forever free, yet forever damned as I close my eyes and release my breath for the final time...

As with all of the other Metro-heads, I once frequented Animemetro. And I left for a multitude of reasons. Without actually sitting down to type a novel on the subject, let me say this and hope it is enough:

i) The site got too big.
ii) The admin was too far removed from the community. And having an unapproachable staff is a bad position to be in.
iii) Some of the mods were abusing a bit of power.
vi) It wasn't very welcoming unless u were a n00b dat cood onli tipe in dis kinda speek. >_>
v) More.

It was a good home for a few years, but I'm glad we found our way here. I likes it a lots. :D

Why did I leave my aforementioned forum? I didn't.

Although I have been to countless forums, never once have I left one. There have been some that have "thrown" me out due to the fact that I "BANNED: For exuding too much PC-Fu and Chibi!" Or something along those lines. Anywho, I have been to tons of sites and met a diverse ammount of role players from all over the world. Been in countless tournaments *including the grand tournament held here* and have found that being a wandering role player suits me just fine.

Although some of the sites I used to role play on were shut down, the one I am most active on {Check my information thing} Is currently the best site I have ever found. I have had some major disagreements with some of the things that go on there, { Complete raping of weaker and less skilled role players} But I find that the site suits and fits my needs for role playing.

Q Why am I here?
A To continue my journey on learning as much as possiable about role playing, archive meetings with new characters, become more diverse in my skill's, add to my plethora of already massive book of good role players, ad basically to role play peoples faces off.

Q2: Why this site?
A2: The reason I chose this site is very, very innocent---Nobody knows me here. I can once again sate a huge hunger to simply be able to role play without any henderance from anyone!

Q3: Why am I such a freaken DIC*
A3: If you figure that out, let me know, I have been meaning to have an answer for that question for some while now.

Re: Why I Left My Forum ( )

I never left my old forums. I left roleplay.
While I still frequent the general, non-roleplay section of the website I went to, I haven't taken a look at the other roleplay related sections in over a year nor have I entered the chatrooms where I used to roleplay in about the same amount of time if not more. There wasn't anything wrong with where I used to play. The people are friendly and the roleplays interesting. However, the roleplay there have continued evolving while I remained, at least I feel, unchanged from when I first started so many years ago. Rules, character sheets and character points . . . all things I don't quite understand and all things I don't quite have the time to learn. Not to mention my move to Japan has made it difficult to maintain any sort of chatroom based roleplay (which I'm most used to) because of the time difference.

So there's not quite the bitter aftertaste in my mouth left from a bad experience, just a longing to return to that point in time where roleplay was fun and free and didn't feel like I was studying for another exam. So I'm here hoping to get back into playing although my imagination, time, and energy have been spent mostly at and on work >_>;;
