The head of the herd plowed into the stream, Demon watched at water sloshed into the the sun glinting off of them like thousands of crystals. Then he was through the creek and the herd moved on, the water felt cool and refreshign plastered against his coat. Shaking his head slightly to clear his eyes he raced on. Ahaed approached a this stand of pines, behind them a huge mountain range framed the wood like a picture.
That was their destination through those woods, and through a gorge the seperated two mountains, then they would be home. Demon whinnied again, telling the lead mare to stop in the cover of the woods for a break. Soon all the horses were bunched in the trees breathing heavily, yet happy their eyes sparkling as they smelled the scent of home.
Demon stood on the outskirts of the woods, shielded from view by a stand of brush. He had to make sure none of the mares strayed away. Especially the new ones. That was why he had come here, to get new mares for the herd. Before his herd had only been about twenty-five after stealing from the herd here, the herd now numbered around thirty-five. That as why they were so nervous, they were all expecting the stallion of the herd Demon had stole from to come charging over the hill at any moment intent on killing.
