Welcome to the RP for those of you who have been accepted. We're going to jump right into things and I'll make adjustments as needed. Please feel free to ask questions and post your thoughts. Ultimately this RP is about your enjoyment as writers with a hope that our combined creative efforts will make for a complex and interesting bit of story telling.

I've set up the two primary setting in the game and might add a third one if necessary. People are welcome to post their introductory post as soon as they like. If your a teacher make sure you start in the Hogwarts thread. At current Minerva McGonagall is the acting headmistress but that might be changing.

Welcome to those of you who've just joined. I'm pleased with the amount of interest and glad to be writing with such a diverse group. We've already got an active thread underway under the Hogwarts Tab. If your writing as teacher a your not required to open on the train. Some of you might already be at Hogwarts or arriving by other means. I leave that up to you.

It should be noted that periodically there will be short jumps in time. These will be announced as they occur. This is primarily to help move the RP along so we don't get stuck in a kind of endless day. I will always give you the writers ample time to explore your scenes and reaction times so we'll just play it by ear.

I've tweaked the introduction tab and admittedly I need to fix some minor errors, but otherwise I've pretty much started formulating some of the major themes of this RP I will also be pulling from your characters as we go.

I would also like to note that I strongly value your input as writers so if there's something in particular you want to explore with your characters let me know and I'll work it into the larger plot line to the best of my ability. Likewise if any of you find your not enjoying yourselves do let me know so that I can improve things for you.

I'm going to start limiting applications. I wanted to keep the genders even but I just couldn't resist accepting your profiles. So well work it out.

Anyway again welcome new writers! I'm sure this'll be alot of fun.

I've taken on another male character because like I said I want the gender lines to be mostly even so after Fly submits I'm probably going to cap the applications at that unless I get someone who really impresses me. Ozwald should more or less even out the staff.

Feralfairy has been nice enough to take on Headmistress McGonagall as an NPC for me.

Once everyone get their opening posts in and has a chance to mingle a little we'll be moving into the Staff reception which takes place a week before the actual students arrive. This will be like a faculty dinner where some announcements will b made. Although others won't be relieved until the actual sorting banquet.

Ok that all sounds good.

There will be little bit more delay on my character be family visited, but the wait should be well worth it. And then right after my character is posted, you can expect my intro to follow.

Also, I will most likely make a second character, but I will wait till the plot develops a bit more.

For anyone wanting to RP another character, but didn't want such a serious role, I have one open.

My familiar happens to be a Pixie (Which I don't know if that is acceptable, if not then I will change it), which may seem a little odd for my character, but it hasn't been seen before, plus I thought it would spice up his posting and add a little comic relief.

Anyway, if someone would like to RP as his familiar then PM me or reply here. You will have complete creative control, except for a few aspects, which I will discuss if anyone is interested.

I don't NEED anyone to RP my familiar, I just thought it would be cool. I mean, how often do you get to RP a not so serious character, in a serious RP without damaging any of the story?

Until I get a response, I will create the pixie how I imagine, but if someone sends me a PM, even after I post and submit my character, I will be willingly to change it still. So if nobody is interested, its all good. ^^

Pixies are considered a regulated magical creature therefore one must register them with the Ministry of magic and adhere to a strict codes of care as they are considered highly exotic. You could certainly have one a familiar/companion although they're generally classified as being very rude and (like Tinkerbell) very possessive of their masters.

I say go for it. Its a unique idea and we con work out the special regulations for them later.

Feralfairy put up a valid point about the age ranges for people in the wizarding World. Which I agree with. I purposely designed the setting to exploit the fact that yes we aren't so far removed from the timeline in the books that we couldn't have more canon characters involved. You'll notice that some of the younger professors from the novels are still billed in the introduction tab.

I would estimate that the average Wizard or Witch of robust health could live between 150-250 years.

I would also like to point out that other magical cultures also live longer, sometimes quite a bit longer than, Wizard humans. House elves for example seem to live forever. Well maybe not forever but you have to admit the Black's house elf was practically three living generations old at the least. We also know that there is some crossover between humans and none humans. Hagrid being just one example while Fleur being another. So mixed magical heritages can impact lifespan as well.

Furthermore we must also recall that certain magical applications can extend a persons lifespan, sometimes indefinitely.

Now a remark about Canon.

The amount of canon characters we introduce is up to all of you. The main reason I brought Minerva back was to create a common link between the past and present. But otherwise I was pretty much going to leave it at that. My main concern when creating the RP was a worry that I'd get alot of people wanting to play children/grandchildren of the core book characters which usually results in alot of revisiting of past events rather than focusing on the individuality of the character's themselves separate from their linage. But obviously that hasn't happened here so I'm not so conserned.

If any of you want to see a specific canon character appear in this RP, I will make it happen I just need to know who. Likewise if anyone is interested in talking on or incorporating a canon NPC along with their original character that's more than welcome as well.

NOTICE: I will be away at a Sci-fi and fantasy Convention between the 1st and 4th of July So my time here might be very limited or not at all for the next few days. If possibly I'll be checking in but I can't promise anything.

Fly: I'd really like to get your character accepted before I leave so that I can quick look over the profile and give you a chance to post something. I would recommend you submit it ASAP even if its not completely done. You can tweak it after if need be.

I was going to make my character old, but I decided against it...

As for Cannon characters, I personally thought it was a good idea to leave them all behind. Because unless Harry got killed, then he would definitely be still alive and most likely headmaster at Hogwarts.

But, I assumed the RP wanted to stray away from that.

Sorry I haven't gotten in my post yet, this weekend was very busy and hectic, with a not sad ending.
