Young --- A Pokemon Roleplay (Closed) ( )

Postby Music on Mon May 10, 2010 10:42 pm

Sorry, folks, but this roleplay is closed solely to AMLOR, BSX, and myself. Lots of capital letters in the house.

However: If you're interested in joining us, PLEASE let me know via PMs and we can probably work something out.

Rules

1 --- No GM. We all have equal say about what goes down. Since there's no OOC, you'll have to include any OOC comments with a post. Just put it in parentheses or something. Also, this means that there's no character sheet. I'll let you figure out what that means.

2 --- Don't Godmod. If it gets to Pokemon battling, wait for the other person to determine whether or not your last move hits. Consequently, you can't have your Pokemon dodge every single attack.

3 --- In my opinion... Let's see. Not a need to moderate violence, really. You can use language, but keep it down. It's Pokemon, after all. And romance... if you want to pursue it, go for it. Since I think I'll be the only girl character in this... haha.

4 --- For Pokemon battles with NPCs, here's how we'll do this: minor trainers, such as TR or random kids, you'll control them. For Gym Leaders and other bosses, I'll play BSX's opposition, BSX will play AMLOR's enemies, and AMLOR will play my opponents. Then you'll just follow the rules listed above.

5 --- For catching Pokemon: no real rules here. Just - don't - catch them too often, and don't catch Pokemon out of their respective environments. For example, you wouldn't find a Mareep in Mt. Moon. Common sense. But you can catch Pokemon out of their respective regions (such as Shinx in Kanto, Jigglypuff in Hoenn, etc.)

6 --- Post at least once every four days. However, I'm going to put a cap on posting and say 'no more than twice per day'. I'm just too busy with real life stuff and my actual writing (ya know, the not-as-fun stuff) to post more than that. So excuse me.

7 --- As for post length... Let's try for two short paragraphs, m'kay? I'm used to roleplays where people write multiple hundreds of words for each post for each character. However, I want to expand on my skills and learn to roleplay 'shorthand'. So two-three paragraphs. They don't have to be massive.

8 --- Let's try to be nice to one another, m'kay?

9 --- Roleplay concept: We'll be traveling as a group from Littleroot Town in Hoenn (just to change things up, haha). That's where we're starting; within the first bit or so, we'll receive our starter Pokemon, having started out with no Pokemon whatsoever. The three starters, as a reminder, are Treecko, Torchic, and Mudkip. It's first come, first serve.

10 --- We can switch regions if we get bored. If that is the case, then I will post a map at that time.

11 --- In your first post, please include your character's name (within the text) and a picture.

Lidia Werdna stared at the town before her in relief. After traveling for days upon end, she had finally made it to Littleroot Town. After so long of walking and avoiding wild Pokemon (since she didn't have one of her own yet) the sight of the sleepy little civilization was quite a welcome sight.

Walking up to what was obviously the Pokemon lab, she knocked on the door. However, the blonde girl was disappointed when no one answered. Hmm, must be too early... she thought, thinking of her own time. Then she shrugged when she realized that it was only 9 o'clock in the morning. Far too early for rational thought or action.

The girl was very excited for her journey. She wanted a Pokemon badly; Professor Rowan's offer to her (receive a Pokemon, journey and discover many different kinds) did not seem like a bad deal at all; after all, traveling had been her intention anyhow.

Sighing, Lidia saw a bench nearby and sat down. She could wait.

OOC: I'll be using the same character from the Kickin' Pokemon Remake

Cero walked in a quick a pace, he wanted to the first one to the lab since there was a widely unwritten rule that whoever got there first had dibs on the Pokemon offered. He kept looking at the few people he saw on the road and watched to see their movements. Always breathing a sigh of relief when they stopped, went left or right, none of them to head where he was going. Having no Pokemon to protect him wasn't scary since he was a trained martial artist, but it still wasn’t a good idea to fight everything that moves. The lab was coming into view and he broke out into a full run.

“YES!” he thought to himself, “I’m going to first!”

However his excitement died when he saw a young girl about his age sitting on a nearby bench. He had been defeated and fell over in his disappointment. He had gotten wrapped up in his thoughts and stopped paying attention to what he was doing. Cero quickly got up and laughed it off, hopefully the girl wouldn’t think he was a klutz.

Lidia glanced up, startled, when there was a nearby disturbance; however, it was not what she had expected. Rather than a townsperson walking or even running by, the cause of her lack of concentration was a boy; about her age, from the looks, but much, much taller. He seemed to be wearing some sort of uniform, possibly of martial arts, and his face contained the greatest look of anticipation that she had ever seen in her life. He was charging straight for the Pokemon lab that she was sitting in front of.

Not your average disturbance.

And then, with an epic twist to his handsome features, the boy's exhuberance suddenly changed to disappointment. And then he fell. Flat on his face.

Lidia had observed everything before that with an impassive face. Now, however, she could not help but to begin snickering. Not at the fall, exactly, but at the boy's entire psuedo-serious demeanor. He got up so quickly and began laughing as well.

Then she stood, thinking that she should probably greet him, but once she was on her feet, she realized that she didn't quite know what to say. So, instead, she turned quite awkwardly away, glancing toward the doors, disguising her grin, and knocked a bit more. Still no answer.

Hopefully, the boy wasn't nearly as shy as she happened to be.

(OOC: sorry that I don't have a pic at the moment, I don't have access to a computer right this moment and my phone won't let me. I should have one soon, probably by my next post.)

Max glanced at the surrounding trees. He had been walking for what he thought to be hours, and didn't seem any closer to his destination. Come on Max, he thought to himself as he let out a big sigh, how can you be lost when there is only one path? After a bit more walking, he finally saw the town in the distance. "Alright," he called out, "finally, if that's Oldale again I'm going to be pissed."

As Max entered the town, he saw the lab in the distance and knew that this was the correct place. He made his was to the lab and noticed two others outside it. I'm not surprised I'm the last one to arrive, he thought, thinking of the troubles he had along the way. Max then stepped towards them, figuring he'd better introduce himself.

The girl began to laugh as well but suddenly turned away and knocked on the door. Was she scared or just extremely nervous? Did he look that out of place that he scared the locals? Cero began to walk towards her but then heard someone approaching them, he turned away to see a guy who looked more concern about being there on time than being late. He didn’t seem to have any Pokemon either . . . it was a miracle none of them were challenged to a match or attacked. He stepped back a bit then spoke to the guy.

“We might be early, but I’m not sure,” he said turned towards the girl, “she was here before me.”

He took a seat down on the bench, “I’m Cero and you are. . .”

(OOC: Ok, I'm having some trouble uploading the pic, I've attached it to the message, but it doesn't show up. I've tried inlining it, but it says it's no longer available when I post. Any ideas?)

As Max walked towards the lab, one of the other people stepped up to him. "Well that's a relief," Max said to the guy's comment, "I was afraid I wouldn't make it on time." Max looked from the guy before him to the girl standing before the door. "So I guess I'm the last to arrive," he stated, "That's fine with me, I was just happy to be chosen for this." He smiled and began imagining how the following days would be after the events of today took place.

Max quickly snapped out of his daydream as the guy sat down and introduced himself as Cero. "Nice to meet you," he answered, "My name is Max." He then turned towards the girl standing near them. "Excuse me," he began, "May we ask your name?"

(OOC: Send me a PM with the link to the picture and I'll see what I can do, if it's a web page. However, if it's not already on the internet, you'll have to upload it on another site that's for posting your art.)

Lidia was disappointed when the door didn't open the second time that she knocked. Oh, well, perhaps Professor Rowan was a late riser. Even if it was almost ten o'clock, according to her Poketch.

She listened silently as the boys, who were named 'Cero' and 'Max', discussed the fact that she would have first pick. She felt awkward and unsure of what to say. And something wouldn't let her give up her spot first in line to the boys, even though she desperately wanted to. She really had no preference of the Pokemon. She had heard that the Mudkip would evolve into the strongest Pokemon, but she was fond of the grass-type Treecko. And yet, the Torchic was strong as well. Her choice was so unclear.

With a jolt, the blond girl realized that Max was talking to her. "I'm Lidia," she said quietly. She shifted from one foot to the next. "I... I'm supposed to pick first, right? Since I got here first. But I don't know what to pick, really. So what Pokemon do you two want?"

He listened at the other two told him their names, despite him begin late Max seemed like a laid back kind of person, but Lidia seemed a bit TOO nervous and jumpy. . . and shy. Cero sighed sensing that this was going to be an interesting journey, maybe shouldn’t be so quick to judge the girl seeing as he made a fool of himself not that long ago. Hearing Lidia’s question he already had I good idea of the team he wanted, but doubted that the Pokemon were being offered.

“If I could have any Pokemon right now it would be a Xatu, but since it’s probably not one begin offered I’ll just have to live with whoever I get,” he answered.

He then wondered if they both were from Hoenn or had they traveled from some other region. Coming all the way from Kanto might seem a little crazy, but exploring the world is part of being a Pokemon trainer right?

Max listened as the girl, who introduced herself as Lidia, explained her thoughts of choosing first. Max began thinking about the choice as she asked for their selection. Cero began talking of his desired team and mentioned he'd accept whatever was offered. "Well I haven't really given it much thought," Max began, "To be honest, I don't really know anything about the Pokemon being offered to us."

Max then tried to remember what he had heard about them. He thought of their types, knowing that it was always a water, fire, and grass type. He tried picturing them, but has no recollection of their appearances. Max decided to just shrug it off, he figured the slight element of surprise would make it all the more exciting.

(OOC: Gotta love Lidia's personality. She never does well when meeting people. By the way, this is AMLOR's picture. And just so you guys know, you can move things along and make Professor Rowan talk, as well as any other NPC.)

Lidia stared in silence. Her eyes, which were already wide at the fact that she was having an actual CONVERSATION with two people that she didn't really know, glanced away awkwardly. She would make her decision once she saw the three Pokemon.

Just then, the doors to the lab opened. Finally. "Good morning, young folk!" It was Professor Rowan, who was jovial and happy to see them. He waved them in to the lab with quite a bit of excitement in his voice. "Well, don't just stand there! Come inside!"

They walked inside the lab. Lidia stared at the high dome ceiling in awe. Then she saw the three Pokemon. They were standing on a short table a few feet into the room, along with Pokedexes that matched their respective coloration. Treecko, Torchic and Mudkip!

Professor Rowan suddenly appeared and seemed rather cheerfully for the time rushing the three of them into the lab. He was rather animated going on about his experiments and asking them questions but before any of them could answer he did. Lidia, Max and Cero all had to do a walk run to keep up with Professor Rowan, though they did manage to catch glimpses of the beauty of the lab.

“Well Professor Oak, did say he was different,” he thought with chuckle.

The group then made their way into a lighted room with three starter Pokemon sitting on a table. Their personalities shone through their body language and each had a matching color Pokedex besides them. Cero looked at each one carefully where they stood trying to decide which one he wanted.

Moments later, a gentleman wearing a lab coat opened the door and stepped before them. This must be Professor Rowan, Max thought. The professor smiled at each of them, excited about getting things under way. "Thank you all for coming," he said to them, "I hope you are just as excited as I am." He then led them into his lab.

Max glanced around at all the machinery lining the floors. He had heard this was a great research facitily, but he had no idea it would be this complex. As Rowan led them further into the lab, he spoke of the recent discoveries they had made and asked them about certain things in their lives. Upon entering one of the back rooms, the three of them saw what it was they were after. Set upon a small table were the three Pokemon they had to choose from and their repective Pokedexs. Max glanced at each of them, even though he didn't recognize them, he could tell their types by their coloring.

The time has come, Lidia realized. It was time for her to make the big decision. The type of Pokemon she chose could affect the rest of her life. After all, it was hard to follow through with a goal to become a fire-type Gym Leader if she didn't choose the fire-type Pokemon... except that wasn't the one that she wanted.

The truth was, she wasn't quite sure what she wanted.

The Mudkip was cute, yes. So was the Torchic. But the Treecko, (a grass-type! Of all things!) sitting there with its thumb in its mouth, was staring at her with reptilian curiosity. As she vaguely heard Professor Rowan say, "First things first. Choose which Pokemon you want, and then we'll talk about what exactly your tasks are," she approached the table and clicked the tiny button on a PokeBall that had been propped up behind the Treecko. It vanished in a beam of red light. And then the shiny green Pokedex clicked once and opened. "Welcome, new user," it said in an electronic voice.

The Professor smiled. "It appears that the young lady has made her decision," he said. He turned to the boys. "What will you two decide?"

There was an awkward pause as Lidia still was unsure about whether or not she wanted to pick first. However she did muster up the courage to follow through and examine each Pokemon carefully and decided on the Treecko. Cero was surprised at her choice for picking such a tough Pokemon. It was his turn to pick between Mudkip and Trochic, he walked around the table while he weighted the pros and cons of each. Making his way back to the front of the table he had made his choice.

“Trochic I choose you!” he said as he clicked the button on the Pokeball. A red beam zipped towards the Pokemon then surrounded it and morphed it into the Pokeball.

Cero picked up the metallic red Pokedex and put it in the fold of his gi. That left Max with Mudkip, he felt kind of bad for him since there was a good chance that wasn’t the Pokemon he wanted. . .

Max waited as the other two made their decision. Lidia was the first to go and seemed a little undecided on which to choose. Max was a little relieved not to be going first, he figured the choices were all to great and would've had a difficult time trying to decide. Lidia then stepped up to what Max figured was the grass Pokemon and selected it.

Cero was the next to decide and stepped up to the table. He looked back and forth from the two remaining ones as if analyzing them. He made his decision rather quickly and went with the red shaded Pokemon.

Max glanced at the lone Pokemon sitting on the table. Max could tell by his fins and coloring that this was a water Pokemon. He made his way to the table and rubbed the small Pokemon's head behind his fin. "Looks like that leaves you and me buddy," Max said to it as he reached out and pressed the small button on the pokeball behind it. A red beam of light suddenly shot from it and engulfed the Pokemon, pulling it into the ball.

(OOC: I like how we picked them in order.)

Professor Rowan clapped his hamlike hands together. "Excellent!" Then he turned and walked out of the room, calling, "Now, come this way and I'll explain your task." As he went, Lidia stared after him in surprised amusement. And suddenly, she let out a tiny giggle. "He's a bit eccentric, isn't he?"

When they got to the room that Rowan had led them to, they saw a large screen with a projector screen. A large map of the entire world was up for display. Lidia was glad that the regions were labeled by region; otherwise she would have had a great deal of difficulty locating Lavaridge Town, which was where she had been born.

Rowan began talking in his bright tone. "As you can see, this is the world! There are quite a few regions currently open for exploration. Your goal is to collectively observe and collect data on all 493 currently known species of Pokemon. Of course, this is practically impossible, since there are over thirty legendary Pokemon among them, but it's worth a shot, isn't it!"

The professor started rubbing his hands together like a mad scientist, and lead them into another room showing them the map of the world. Cero eyes darted right towards Pallet Town then to his current location. Thanks to his mom winning a contest for a round trip on the SS Anne, he decided to start his long overdue Pokemon Journey in the next region it docked in. The Pokemon and people were a bit different from what he was familiar with in Kanto but was glad to get a fresh start.

His interest sparked upon hearing that there were 30 Legendary Pokemon, “30!? Have anyone ever captured one of these Legendary Pokemon? The most I know is 7. . .anyway I’m sure we’ll do our best to complete the mission”

Almost 500 known Pokemon in the world and last time Cero checked there were about 250; the world sure had progressed a little while he was relaxing. He couldn’t wait to get started! but first he needed to pick up a few supplies before setting out.

After Max retrieved his pokeball, Rowan quickly tried to lure them into a larger room, speaking of a special job he had for them all. Upon stepping in the room, Max stared in awe at the large screen before him. Shown on it was a map of their world, with each region clearly marked. Having never traveled much, he had no idea how vast it really was.

Professor Rowan then began his explaination of why they were here. He spoke of the many species in the world and how it was up to them to gather data on each of them. "493?!?," Max called out when Rowan mentioned the large number of known Pokemon. "I had no idea there was...," he continued, trailing off. He had thought there was only maybe around 200 species, he had no idea that there was over twice that amount. He started to get a little excited over the fact of this.

Lidia, though she was not nearly as vocal as the boys, stared in disbelief at the fact that there were 493 known Pokemon. She herself had only known about the twenty or so species that lived near Lavaridge and the fact that there were quite a few more elsewhere in the world.

Rowan spoke to the group, continuing his discussion on Pokemon species. "Yes, 493. And the thirty or so legendaries are based mostly on speculation; very few have actually been sighted, and none have been captured, except through low-quality standards."

Lidia decided that she needed to speak her question. "Um... if we know how many Pokemon there are, why do we need to collect data on them?"

Rowan stared at her. "Well, we don't know much about many of them. The more people giving us data, the better." He sighed and smiled. "There are many paths the three of you can take. There's the Gym challenge, but you could also become a Contest master. Or a Breeder. Or countless other professions that you might want."

There was a chance that the 30 Legendary Pokemon might not even exist or were myths created by the imagination of people. Cero had a good idea as to the “low-quality standards” Professor Rowan was talking about. It had to be Team Rocket; they seemed to know no bounds or sympathy for life. He gripped his hands in angry at the mere thought of them. They had to be stopped no matter what!

After Lidia asked her question Professor Rowan explained to them they had many paths to choose from on their journey. His thoughts cooled as he tried to decided what type of trainer to become. . .such a decision wasn’t easy to make. Cero wondered how much longer they would be at the lab, he wanted to test Torchic’s abilities as soon as possible.
