It's the year 2009. President Barak Obama has made history, preventing the second great depression. He gave his 'state of the union' only yesterday, announcing his plans to help fix everything else that's wrong. Practically everyone that doubted him in the beginning has total faith in him, saying he will lead our nation back to the top.
To top situations, two brothers in Kentucky announced to the media that they've discovered a renewable energy source that will replace natural gas by the years end. It had something to do with chemistry, so most people didn't understand the how of it, but he science community was raving, asking themselves why they had never thought to try it before. Already the factory in Kentucky was fueling 40% of Americas hybrids, and there hasn't been a single thing wrong, at least no that anyone can say. Even the Green party is pleased, saying the new fuel is a million times cleaner for the environment then natural gas.
That's when it happened. People thought the War on Terror had ended when finally the last of the Al Quida had been neutralized, but it seems that Muslim rationalists still had it out for America. They saw the good the factory in Kentucky was doing for America, and they deleted it. Permanently, by dropping a nuke on it.
Americans were outraged, and they rioted in the streets calling for a Nuclear retaliation. But Barak Obama refuses to give the order, stating in a press conference that 'A Nuclear war will end the world, not Muslim rationalists.' Still, he said that all troops were going to be stationed back in Iraq and Afghanistan, this time, it was Genocide. No muslim would live through it. It was, more or less, an organized Holocaust.
But America had a bigger problem. The survivors of Hiroshima came down with Leukemia, and even today they still do. But the gasses in the plant had mixed with the Nuclear radiation, chemically bonded through Nuclear fusion. Those who took it in, became changed. In those first days, it became obvious what was happening. A zombie apocalypse, as ridicules as that sounded.
The Mutants were classical zombies. Slow moving, groaning, dead-looking people. It was something out of a comic book. Fearing that the radiation would spread, people began jumping the border into Mexico, to escape. But Mexico's closed its borders, payback they say, for years of a closed border to them.
As Americans found unconventional ways to flee, the mutants were evolving. They passed the infection through with a single bite, and no one reacted to it the same. Some grew abnormally fast and vulnerable, some grew snail-slow, but became nearly bulletproof. It was different for everyone, no two mutants were the same.

"Military troops have been sent to large cities. Our hope is to save a majority of the people, and we just don't have enough troops for all the smaller towns. Scientists say the radiation won't last more than a week. We suggest taking up any arms that you can, and fighting back. Good luck to you all, and God bless and help us all."

Of course, the Rp will be set in none other than Wyoming, the only state I know of with ZERO cities big enough to be considered BIG. We can vote on the city, if you want. The three I had in mind were Cheyenne, Casper, and Cody.

Bio: He was born and raised in Casper, but was in (Chosen city here) when they second state of address was given. His parents are both alive and well, at least he hopes so, they live in Washington, and his sister (who he lives with) is still in Casper. He figures they'll survive without his help, knowing that there smart people.
