The boat rocked back and forth slowly far off of the Mexican coast. Zack fell off of his bed and onto the floor, which woke him up. He looked up at his fathers bed, it was empty. He walked out into the fresh air and saw his father nowhere. He looked around for his shoes, put them on. He bent over and tied them, he looked up at a empty wall. He noticed that the life jacket was gone, he ran over to the edge of the boat and looked over. What he saw made him scream, his father was floating along the side of the boat.
He was holding onto a rope being dragged in the water. He looked up at Zack, his head twitched to the side and his mouth began chopping. He started pulling at the rope angrily, he was climbing out slowly. He rised above the water and now was climbing the side of the boat. Zack knew this thing was not his father anymore, its face was deformed, like he had been burnt. Zack ran back as he heard what used to be his father screaming violently. The thing had climbed over the side now and was searching for the boy.
Zack ran through doors faster then he ever had, he went to the lower level to the kitchen and opened the freezer. Frozen fish slid out and fell to the floor in front of him, he screamed. The zombie squealed and started running towards him. Zack shuffled out the ice with his hands, he turned the light on and jumped inside of the freezer, he closed the door and climbed into the back. He sat down and felt something cold under him, he looked at it, it was a harpoon head. Zack's heart stopped as he heard the thing come into the room, his squealing slowed now, he stopped completely now which scared Zack even more. The zombie stood back, he hid and watched the freezer. Zack held the harpoon head in his hand, he crawled to the freezer door when it suddenly creaked open. Zack stopped, he held the harpoon in front of him and looked outside.
The zombie jumped out at him and impaled himself on the harpoon, Zack shoved it deeper into it and ran for the door, he smacked into someone who held a gun towards the door. He looked at up at the soldier and was quickly pulled backwards by another "I killed him." Zack said before going up. The soldier moved forward slowly, he walked into the room and towards the zombie. It layed there dying, breathing slowly the soldier put the barrel of his rifle to the zombies head when suddenly it jumped from the corner and bit the soldiers armpit. His arm fell off completely and he screamed the zombie headed for the door but it was closed shut and sealed from the other side. The zombie smashed his head against the window of the door and screamed violently at the soldiers. The two of them fired at the zombie with there firearms then threw HE (heat explosive) grenades into the room. They both moved to the deck as it exploded.
Zack had been escorted to there boat, it was the biggest boat he had ever seen. He thought they were the navy, the ship looked like one he saw in there recruiting catalog at school. But they all were wearing dark camouflage, with face masks and guns he had never seen before. Like some sort of black ops team. It would explain how they were all still alive though. Zack had already assumed the worst, some mass disaster, the world was probably ending.
How did he know this? Well its not like black ops soldiers rescue you on your boat and blow up your deformed father everyday is it? They later told him that they were part of a larger operation rescuing all survivors from the sea as they could. There were 3 other ships like this one, each capable of going underwater and searching the coasts for survivors, there original use was for transporting soldiers into countries without permission. Zack was happy to be safe and aboard the vessel, though he still thought about his father. They also told him about the disease, what was happening to the people and how they had very little hope in being able to defeat it.
