Moving stuff in virtual reality with your real self...

there's a guy who's moving his hands, and in the virtual world, his hands mimic his real hands perfectly, exept his virtual hands are manipulating virtual objects based off the movements of his real hands.

merging virtual reality and reality.

(smileys aren't working right now... but I'm sure that'll be fixed soon.)

if anyone can make a better explanation, please do.

I don't know maybe I am getting old before my time but it really does nothing for me. Clever technology and it will probably have some sort of real use sometime but as it stands it is nothing special yet.

Imagine the possibility of gaming.

I personally thing a Green Army Man type game with this would be sweet... being able to go ANYWHERE and play little green army men... with real physics and all that jazz. Imagine a Command And Conquer game spanning across your entire house AND backyard...

o_o;...

...

Just picture it...

Mobile Suit Gundam/Armored Core, from cockpit view, played in such a manner. I do believe I'd cream myself.

Zhelir, I just thoroughly creamed myself.

Naw, just playin'. Now if there was an immersive America's Army environment... Ohhh yeah, baby... I think the idea of having a first person Mech-based game is a little bit ahead for the future, but Eric's idea of little green army men seems a bit more feasible in the now. I also wouldn't be surprised to see large open rooms similar to high school gymnasiums being filled with an Americas Army version of the above technology, or a Battlefield 2 version. That's what I thought about when I saw the helicopter in the demo. Being able to go around in this virtually created or prefabricated environment head to head against other people or against an AI computer system spawning virtual enemies.

I think this is a great step in the direction of virtual reality worlds.
