A Big hint for Avric, is to watch the show, because he would have known the culture just by reading the topic. Which I think is somewhat of a requirement to have at leased watched one episode. Because, its hard to understand what it is to Waterbender or Firebender. Its Power, but not like magic, were you can make it up on whim. And there is no one style, and no magic words.

The properties of items in the Avatar world, have no real depth in enhancing powers, the only two factors that are the strongest in fighting, are the seasons and the Sun and Moon.

Now there is not explained reason so far, why some can bend and others cant, it is considered a rare gift. Like a superpower, but I think allot more in depth.

The fact that you must master the art form, and be creative with it rahter than just saying. "Fireball" thats not showing any depth in skill. It would be as if, " Tii lifted up his right arm, extending is finger, then closing them back into his palm. With his eyes shut, a flames of fire leaped from his hand and shot out in front of him. He pulled his arm in, slightly pulling the flames to the left." In the avatar world, so items are not gonna save, you, sheer skill will, and brains.

And one thing I have taken notice, Benders don’t use weapons,(Excluding Zuko and Aang, because they wanted to stay hidden) Its like a Jedi using a gun. There is not need. They got something far better. It will become dead weight on you, if you can summon up a wall made of massive rocks. Than using a dingy sword. Socka, is prime example of how feeble a person using a weapon compared to a bender. So I think that you need a weapon, then you do not need bending, but if you need bending your not goanna need a weapon.

If I was a water bender facing a sword man, I could just make a sword with ice, and if it broke I could make 200 more. You can see how bending powers tip the scale.

That is just my feeling on that, you don’t have to hear me out Jade.

I dont know If im speaking for Jade,or not. But I think you guy is reaching uber on the power scale. You discription and raising, show you to be a teacher, and not a student. You know alot, which I think will not be as great in character development. Your characters life seems pretty set out, meaning you got no flaws or goals. And Lighting bending seems to be very hard to obtain, even for masters so I would say your are passing uber. Hell you char could be a boss, by the way you set him up.

Now again, Im not speaking for Jade, but I got a feeling that she wants our characters to be weak. Not saying that we suck, but we lack training. This will help all of out characters grow instead of just, poof, "Im strong, here I am, wheres the bad guys, Im ready to kick ass!"

Lightning is another stance of firebending, albeit an advanced one. And if a 17 year old Azula can do it, then so can I. That's that.

Besides, he was taught what he knows originally for performing, not fighting, two completely different things. He's only just RECENTLY began using that knowledge for combat, so it's all still gonna be in it's experimental stages. I know what I'm doing.

Re: Avatar: Shadow of the Mount OOC

That’s that?, that’s pretty strong to say, just you saying it works doesn’t make it so. And pleading your case that you deserve it doesn’t make it seem like a very strong argument.

I can explain how Azula did it, By having two ancients teacher her the fighting style. And Im gonna come back to the word Fighting style.

Now is your character a perfectionist, a crazied nut, and a mad fighter like Azula, in her powers to go toe to toe with Masters of the art form, without breaking a sweat. Now I can give props for that and understand why she has that power.

But if your saying, that your guy isn’t even a fighter, or mentaly built like Azula. Then how do you expect to earn this power, who taught you the art form, Because Azula, and a handful of others, (that I might add, are part of the royal family. Why would someone teach a commoner this power, your character is not even in the military.) And if could not see how this could be used as a very reliable art form. Seeing how it is deadliest of all the bendings.

Taking note of the second part, No, its both. If you can shoot fire from your hands, you know how to use it in a fight, there is not really division. have you ever heard of Capoeira, the dancing fighting form. The roots of bending is fighting, there is no way around it. The performing is just a ruse to cover the fighting moves.

And I’m not saying this out of being smarmy, I’m pointing out the plot depth fault, not the char. Ya I could see it, no problem. Thats not what Im getting at. Im getting at that there seems to be no flaws, no down side, or weakness. Once you start using Lighting, you’ve pretty much reached the highest point of the art form

I said that its not what you made couldn't happen, But trust me when I’ve been on this site for as long as I have. Your hitting uberfest. Its no a joke, and I’m not being mean. I know when someone is jumping on the “Monsters” and I know when someone puts on two many powers.

Okay, Star Wolf, Xersist has brought up some very good points.

Lightning bending is an extension of fire bending, but as I have said before, it's an extremely rare one, and a method of fighting. It takes very powerful benders to be able to master it. Not someone who does it casually, for fun or in the learning of a performing dance.

And I'm sorry, but I'm not going to allow someone to be capable in bending, weapons, AND a special martial arts technique that takes years of practice. Maybe if he was 45. Maybe. But it's just not going to fly this time.

The idea of him being a performer is fine (that's what mine was) but tone down his abilities.

So that's that.

Also, people seem to keep thinking that 'it happened in the show so I can do it' is proper logic. Wrongo. This is not the show, it's based off of it. We're aiming for room to grow (did Katara start out as a Master? Did Aang automatically know the four elements? Heck, did Zuko, who clearly knew what he was doing, learn lightning bending right off the bat?) and, as repeated, This Is Not The Show. These are original characters, not the prodigy whiz kids featured in AtLA. Giving your character previous knowledge of all sorts of bending doesn't make them appealing, sorry.

I have a question, Dim Mak? You learned the art of pressure points? So you are a master of pressure point techniques as well as a street performer? Understanding that in history, actual Dim Mak was only taught to the most advanced and trusted of students, that would make you a master of some form of martial arts already. Also since Dim Mak teachings are based along the same lines as acupuncture, you are also in effect a doctor? Thats a lot of studying to go through as well as being a dedicated and learned street performer.

I'd wager to say to have accomplished and mastered all of those skills: Performance troupe skills, Ti'chi martial arts (The master who developed Ti'chi also developed Dim Mak),dim mak and acupuncture (think of acupuncture as the antidote for dim mak). I'd wager you'd be a tad older than 22 years of age.

Wait, before you get defensive, I am just saying thats a lot to have mastered and learned by the age of 22. *shrug*
I mean I can see the training required for the martial arts, sure enough thats feasible. But add in the demanding practice and learning required to be a proficient performer, thats a lot of training to learn in a 12 hour day.
The writer who cares more about words than about characters, action, setting, atmosphere is unlikely to create a vivid and continuous dream; he gets in his own way too much; in his poetic drunkenness, he can't tell the cart- and its cargo- from the horse.

Just so everyone knows, the actual IC thread will be opened tomorrow. I know, it's a long wait, and I'm sorry, but I'm going to be running around a lot this evening and won't be able to monitor a new thread. But tomorrow! *shakes fist* Also, I'll be posting a list of everyone who has been accepted so far in a moment, once I reread character applications and such. Please don't be offended if you're not accepted, it doesn't mean I think you're a lousy RPer or anything, it just means that you're not quite what I'm looking for as far as people that I think would play well together. As a group more than as individuals.

Perhaps if everyone stopped trying to be master right away and made a character that could grow there would be no fighting? Perhaps if people read the rules Jade had posted there would be less quibbling over what is expected in a character? Then we'd have less arguing and more players in the RP to enhance and enrich the storyline Jade has come up with.

Asbo I may be able to help you, if jade doesn't post when your around.

I think she wants you to cut your age, and mastery down. I don't think she will mind that tattoos, but saying you a master, make you seem that your character doesn't need to be in the story. She wants our charcters to learn, and to be young, fresh, and cocky. Having already reached maturity does leave alot of room to grow.

Another thing, which I think jade likes alot, is that your char has alotof backstory, plenty of info about what you were. Maybe your char has a habit or hobbit, which also alows the player to play with in the story

These are just my sujecstions ( cant spell)if you want to get the green light, because we do need an Air bender.

Also, better spelling and grammar always help in character biographies. Use Word if you want your typing to be really excellent.
