Zach helped evy prepare the meal, it wasn't much but for the two of them it was enough. he made sure to give her a little bit more since she was looking a little too skinny from not eating the few days she was sick. they sat across from each other huddling close to the fire more to stay out of the shadows than to keep warm. "so what are we going to do tonight eves?" he asked shoveling food in his mouth like he hadn't eaten in days, then going back for seconds, only to stop and wait for Evy to finish. he always hated her going hungry and made every effort to make sure she had enough before he stuffed himself.

"Well I suppose staying inside the tent would be one thing because look." Evy said as she pointed towards the horizon. Even though it was steadily getting darker it still wasn't hard to tell that a thick line of clouds was starting to gather in that direction and she could swear she heard some thunder in the distance at the same time. Needless to say that wasn't a good mix right there since that meant they were more then likely in for another storm. However, at least if it hit tonight then maybe by tomorrow it'd be over and they could get back to work.

Zach followed her finger to the steady growing dark clouds that were forming in the distance and seemed to be moving faster than normal. it was then he caught the faint smell that meant that rain was emminent. "alright Eves" he said knowing how much she hated the thunder that was usually closely followed by a storm.

he helped her stand up and back into the tent before walking out and making sure everything was secured and properly covered for the storm then walked back in and and sat across from her, covering her legs with a blanket to fight off the chill that was sure to come. "so now what?" he asked with a slight smile

"Well from the look on your face I would guess you're up to something." Evy said before a particularly loud crash of thunder broke out overhead, causing her to squeak in surprise and fear before clinging to Zach like she was scared to let go of him. Yes she had a fear of thunderstorms which was an entirely different subject all together. That's something she really didn't want to get into since she couldn't really say how she got that fear, she'd just always been scared of storms but as to why. Well that was anyone's guess.

Zach bit his lip to keep from laughing a her insecuities. "I m not up to anything, I hink you're the one that is up to something" he said wrapping his arms around her and holding her close, comfortingly. " I think that if the path isn't too bad then maybe we should press forward and see whats over their" he said suddenly very weary, he laid back and propped his head up with his hands, closing his eyes

"Alright, trying to finish the original plan tomorrow sounds good." Evy said as she laid next to Zach while keeping as close to him as possible. As funny as this may sound, she was never as scared of things when she was close to her brother. Even when they were children that had been true and it hadn't changed as long as they'd been together. Although it seemed more true now then it did then since she realized she loved him more then as her brother, and at least he didn't seem to think her rather silly fear was totally crazy or something like that.

he turned and smiled at her, wrapping an arm around her and brushing his fingers through her hair soothingly, stopping only to pull a couple of blankets up over them so they didn't get cold in the middle of the night. "do you think your ankle can take it, or should I carry you?" he asked running his hand down her leg until he was at her ankle. it didn't feel nearly as swollen as it had, but he had made sure that she stayed off of it as much as possible to give it the best chance to heal. in all honesty he didn't mind carrying her since she was so light especially compared to the gutted pigs he used to have to carry for the community meals when they had first gotten into the tunnels. he gazed into her eyes and smiled, kissing her, then closed his eyes, not sleeping, just relaxing

"I think I'll be okay, but if you'd rather carry me then you won't hear me complain about that idea." Evy said as she curled up next to Zach so she was even closer to him then before. She didn't think her ankle would cause anymore problems but even she wasn't totally sure about that, so if he didn't want to risk it then she wouldn't bother arguing. Although she'd only had one incident earlier that day when her foot decided to be troublesome and she was really hoping that was the last time. She'd already been irritated enough at feeling useless because of it, and she really wanted her ankle to hurry up and heal so she could start helping clear things out as much as she could. Okay so yes maybe she wouldn't be allowed to do much of the harder stuff, but there had to be something she could do that would at least be helpful in some way.

Zach could feel the warmth of Evys body as she cuddled close to him. he wrapped his arms around her and closed his eyes a smile on his face.

he was rather surprised when he woke to find the sun just starting to rise. he hadn't meant to fall asleep until after Evy had, to ensure she didn't have to hard a time with the thunder. he looked at her and although she had slid a little closer, probably due to fright, they were pretty much in the same position as he had remembered making him think she had fallen asleep shortly after him. he leaned over and kissed her " Eves, wake up we need to get going if we want to have any time to explore." he said running his hand up and down her arm.

"Okay okay I'm awake." Evy said in a sleep filled voice once she woke up enough to talk. Like Zach suspected Evy had fallen asleep not long after him, and once she was out she never even noticed the storm outside. Although from the way the sun was shining she guessed it had ended later on during the night, but she was certainly relieved about that. The last thing they needed was to end up stuck out here with a huge storm still going, especially since they wanted to continue with their search and see what they could find out here.

Zach got dressed and quickly filled a small travel bag with the supplies they would need for the day then walked overto where Evy was resting against her usual tree. " you ready?" he asked handing her the backpack since he would have her on his back and not making it extremely heavy.

they made their way to the river and crossed with ease, the storm hadn't caused t he water to rise to much last night. they started up the mountain to the spot where they had had the final talk with the couple, and paused to rest. so far they were making good time, but so far it had all been relatively familiar territory, nowthey started into the unknown.

"Okay so I guess if anyone has any doubts then speak them now." Evy said from where they were standing where they had stopped the day before. Once they left they'd be heading straight into more unfamiliar territory, meaning they could run into anything after they left this point. Although hopefully all they wouldn't find much, at least not much that might prove threatening to them in any way. They'd already had enough close calls that she certainly didn't want anything to come up whtat could cause more then they'd already been through.

Zach piggy backed Evy and started off down the poorly maintained trail, picking his way carefully down so he and Evy didn't end up tumbling the remainder of the way. although the treck was tedious, they finally made it to the bottom, the ground leveling out quite a bit and the trail widening slightly making the walking a little more easy, especially with evy on his back. soon they came to another river andthough they heard voices, many voices farther off across the river. "I think it best if we avoid any one today" he said looking over his shoulder as best he could at Evy and following the river farther downstream before setting her down and taking off his clothes to cross the river. they would need dry clothes in case they got stuck out here through the night if they wanted to stay warm and survive.

"Yeah I'd say that's a good idea since there's no telling who's out here." Evy said in a lower tone of voice so they weren't heard by any chance. Also, since she was sure it was a good idea keeping her clothes as dry as possible for as long as possible, she slid her clothing off her body before even thinking of attempting to get across the river. Since it was just the two of them she didn't have anything against taking her clothes off right then and there, but if someone else had come along well slhe'd be ducking for cover pretty fast.
