Bio----------------------------------------
O's history begins long before his human incarnation took form. He (more accurately, it is the proper pronoun to use when speaking of O, but, as he is currently incarnated in a male body, we will use he for ease of understanding) came into being spontaneously as the answer to the question of self. When René Descartes said, "Cogito Ergo Sum" (I think, therefore I am), he was simply giving voice and reason to an idea, a force, immesurably older than himself, or even his entire race. Ouroboros embodies self-reference, regeneration, creation through destruction, and the infinite nature of the cycle of birth and death. As a physical entity, O's beginnings are somewhat controversial. Some claim that he is one of the 10,000 children of Adam and Lilith, others that he gained physical form as spontaneously as he did his metaphysical one, and simply 'chose' human form for ease of camoflauge. Either way, due his very nature the issue is largely dependant on one's belief anyways.
From the beginning O was, perhaps necessarily, introverted, and yet at the same time he craved both knowledge and social interaction. His many lifetimes have seen him in many different places throughout every time. Invariably, whenever one eventful quest for knowledge of self ends, it begins anew in much the same way: Birth, a child who learns too quickly, a child prodigy, puberty, Remembering, the new beginning of the quest for knowledge.
The things that human beings can learn to do in their flickeringly short lives is impressive, to say the least. A middle-aged businessman in Japan is, in truth, over 300 years old. A venerable mystic in India stops eating and for over 5 years survives on nothing but sunlight and water. Monks meditating in Nepal die, leaving no mortal corpse behind in their passing. But these things, as immpressive as they are, are but the tip of the iceberg. The very smallest of the mighty things the human soul would be capable of, if it were given enough time, and time is the one thing O has always had in abundance, from the very beginning.
Mastery of the body and mind are easiest, but must be repeated for every new incarnation. Immunity to sickness, mutation, and disease. Exponentially increased cognitive and memory funtion. Hightened senses. Endurance, speed, and strength to rival the most vigorous Olympic althletes. Elimination of all necessity for physical sustenence.
The soul is much more difficult to hone, but becomes again as it was with each remembering. At first, the effects seem no more than simple coincidences. An earnest desire for something selfless to happen, and it happens, though perhaps not exactly as you hoped. As time passes, things being to coalesce around the soul in question, forming eddies and whirlpools of happenstance that, seeming random, always act in favor of the one at their center. He beings to shape those random coincidences, acting to bring them about more readily, imposing his will on the patterns he begins to descern all around him, in everything and everyone. Eventually, the act becomes so innate that it is truely no longer a matter of chance, but now a matter of sheer force of will. There is a desire, the will is exerted, flexed, and the desire is met. The ability to shape the world around you as you see fit.
All these things have shaped O, and brought him to where he is now, in the present. The ability to shape reality around him, contested only by the will of sleeping souls. Such a world holds his interest only in what he can learn from it. Aside from God himself, whom O has, not only no knowledge of, but also no desire to challenge, he has few in the way of those who can stand against his will, his expression of self. When O heard of Vffekt and his challenge, there was no choice but for him to accept.
Personality------------------------------
Although he is incarnated in a different body every time he dies, O's soul is forever the same, and so he remains quintessentially the same person. He is introverted and introspective, but easily pulled into conversation if the conversation touches anything to do with academics, art, philosophy, or humanity in general. Which is to say, he is not trivial in any way, and many people find him overly serious. Seriousness, however, is simply a superficial understanding of his deep need for every thought and action to have meaning and a possibility for knowledge gained. He is quick to laugh when he discovers ironies and paradoxes, but finds little else humorous. His power over the world around him coupled with his intense desire for knowledge have created in him a rather extreme 'moral flexebility'. Which is to say that he is not concerned in any way with any religious dogma, nor with any philisophical standpoint. Having no reference for morality or ethics, or even for the abstract concepts of good and evil or law and chaos, these things, very simply, do not apply to him, as they do not enter into his thought process. He is, however, aware of these human constructs on an intillectual level, and so does his best to maintain them in public through a desire to blend in.
Overt Powers---------------------------
Aside from the functions of his physical body above and beyond the norm, O has 2 main abilities. The first is the fact that, when he dies, he is reincarnated into the body of a child being conceived at that moment, to start his cycle again. The second is his abillity to force his will onto the patterns around him, reshaping reality, which can be contested only by the will of another sentient, living soul set in direct opposition of his own.
