Hey, guys.
So, this isn't an interest check for a roleplay, for starters - but instead an interest check for a forum game I'm looking to hold called "Post Restriction Mafia." Moderators, feel free to shimmy this topic wherever you need it to be.
Anyone who knows what Mafia or Werewolf is knows of the premise. There is a group of players with various assigned roles (Doctor, Cop, Civilian, Mafia, Hitman etc) and two distinct sides; the Mafia/Werewolves, and the Townspeople. The goal for the Townspeople is to eliminate the 'scum' (word for Mafia), while the goal of the Mafia members/Werewolves is to murder or otherwise eliminate the townsfolk until there is an equal number of scum and townspeople, thereby winning the game.
Here are the mechanics; there are 'day' phases, and 'night' phases.
During the day phase, people may talk among themselves and discuss who/what to do, with open discussion. Each person gets a vote towards another player in the game - once a player achieves a certain amount of votes, decided by the GM, then they are 'lynched', and are eliminated from the game. They are allowed a last few final words, and then vamoose from the game.
Once a player is lynched, the 'night' phase begins. During this phase, both the Townies and the Mafia members can use their special abilities, as defined by their role. The Mafia side votes on one person to kill, the doctor decides on someone to save, the cop decides on someone to investigate. Once all of these decisions are in, the 'day' phase begins once more, and the players find out who died and who survived the night.
Where this gets fun, however, is that each person playing will have a 'post restriction' - something that they have to do with every post they make. This may be talking with a lisp, stuttering, acting like a celebrity, or not being able to say certain words.
If I generate enough interest, I'll start elaborating on rules and roles that I usually inject into a Mafia game. Let me know if this is something you'd be interested in seeing grace the Gateway.
