" Well now. Questions you have answered. IN fact, quite thoroughly. I am very grateful to have met you." Esca said standing up. She could hear some ruckus in the distance. She looked at the elder and smiled at him.

"Due stick around. I think I will go and take a look at what the yelling is about." Esca bowed her head in appreciation for his company.
"You know. I think you could be a great advisor some day to a great ruler. If you stick around long enough." Esca winked and turned as she picke dthe hem of her skirt up now running along the stoney path.

Much practice she had running along the pathway. As she made her way she turned the corner to hear the noises getting louder as she approached a metal door. She turned the handle and it opened. On the other side, in the courtyard, there stood many soldiers of the kingdom. A man Esca had not even known to be a guest here at the castle.

"What is the meaning of all this? There is an important meeting going on." Esca said as she approached the lot of them. She shoved her way past but was grabbed by the arm firmyl by a soldier.

"My dear Lady. I can not let you go any further. It is to dangerous." The man said. Kind of scruffy with the beard about in his 40's she would say, give or take a few.

"Let go of my arm. Now." Esca said as she looked up at the man, using her other hand to grab his sword from his hand. Taking it, she walked forward through the men to the very front as she gazed upon a huge man. She had a smirk on her face.

"Now then. Where'd you come from little guy? Are you lost?" Esca said as she stared at him.

"Princess! Thats not very nice." The soldier from before said as he walked to her side. She laughed.

"Your right. Forgive me sir." Now looking at the man once more.
"Now then. Lets do this again. How may I be of service to you? My father is in a meeting. I am sure that what ever it is that you have to say must be capable of waiting. The meeting is to discuss future war and peace efforts for many nations, not just our own and neighboring nations, but for all. Surely you can understand why." Esca said as she moved closer to the man. Disregarding the other who was talking to this man before. But, pretty much stating the same thing.

"Now then. You have two options. Leave, and quietly. OR, you can sit in the waiting room, and be very quiet there. The meeting should be over in a while. I am not trying to drive you away. I am trying to reason with you. Much like others have, I am sure." She said glancing at the man from before. Now she was begining to remember who he was.

As the princess calmly took charge of the situation I actually felt perhaps that the hugh man would agree to her terms. I did not really want to put this man to slaughter. No matter how confident he felt about his strenghts he would surely lose, and then die in the process. There has been too much dying and I have been of sad circumstance to have seen too much of it. The Dark Armies have been killing whole villages with rumors of torture, and spreading though-out the areas was becoming all too common. What the King needed was warriors to join the cause, like this man, not to be killed over an over-ambitious gamble.

As she now weilded my sword, and quite gracefully I must say. I slipped my hand down and pulled the long scalloped dagger from my legging.

Out of the corner of my eye I notice the Mage enter the courtyard manning a tall staff. Thinking that the odds are getting better that the hugh man may decide to settle down.

Khan smiled to himself as he happened to talk some sence into the foolharty girl. He continued to stroke his beard as she left to be on the frontline of the commotion. He nodded to himself deciding that perhaps she wasn't quite old enough to grasp the concept that she was invincible. He shrugged and got to his feet before moving after the princess. He decided that he should mediate this, incase it was a real conflict. Even though he was shaking his head at the princess steadfast in her way she was quite admirable and would be an amazing leader should she choose that.

Khan approached the gates in his own time. He was never in any rush. When he arrived he just stood behind the soldiers with his staff ready should he need it, and yet again stroking his beard.

OOC: Sorry it took me a while to reply -- not been at home.

Harris stared at the guard, obviously more competent than the younglings he had dealt with so far. The guard seemed reasonable, and Harris felt that he could easily deal with this man.

Watching the young woman enter the courtyard, he was somewhat surprised to hear be addressed as 'Princess'. He had heard tales of the girl adopted by the king, but he had never thiught she could be that beautiful.

Momentarily discarding the guard from his mind, he lowered his head, "Your Highness." His voice was calm as he spoke to the young woman. "I have come to see your father, I am here to discuss options available to stop the Dark Army."

He smiled as he turned back to the more experienced guard, the man was certainly confident to belive that he was able to place Harris in custody. "You will escort me to the king now." He once more turned his attention to the princess, "I understand the importance of such a meeting, and I believe that it would benefit all if I was to join."

Harris awaited the reply of the guard, and as he surveyed his surroundings, he noted the mage situated to the rear of the courtyard. "Well met, mage. There is no need for your staff this evening."

Harris wasn't certain, but something in the back of his mind told him that he had met this mage once before.

Placing the axe once more in the loop on the back of his leather armour, Harris relaxed slightly, seeing there would be no need to use the weapon.

As he turned once more to the guard, he spoke, his voice calm. "Come, take me to the King, friend. And dismiss the lackeys, they are uneeded."

Harris patiently awaited the guard's guidance to the King.

Tips: 0.00 INK Postby Blade Experticella on Sat Dec 23, 2006 7:34 am

Feeling a bit relieved that this confrontation was now being avoided made Blade feel better, but still held his ground. Turning to the princess he asked, " My Lady Esca, do you wish to inform your father that this man would like to talk with him, while you do that, I, AND my guards will escort him the the main waiting room. Where we will get his identity and hold his weapons untill the meeting is over"
Turning to the man, "Please follow me, we will go to the waiting room now, where I'll need some information from you."
I motioned to the other guards to follow and assist and told the gate guard to lock and secure the broken gate door. As we headed to the metal entrance door we passed the Mage at the edge of the court yard. I knew of this mage as the King counsulors of one of the cities, Deloria I believed, attending the war meeting and have heard of his magical powers that far exceeded the powers of the average fire mage. I nodded, "Thank you Master Kahn for your presence. Please may I have the honor to converse with you later?"

Up the stoney path and into the castle we proceeded silently into the waiting room that was next to the large meeting room where sounds of the King and the others were debating loudly. Loud enough to be heard through the massive steel door that was between us. Seemingly they were disagreeing on certain points of their stratagy. The meeting must not be going well. I thought.

A large chest sat in the far end of the room and table with chairs. "You may put your weapons in the chest and retrive them after your meeting. I'll also need you to sign the visitors log."

In the center of the table a hugh gold binded book sat. This book had the names and position of thousands of people that have seen the King. From royalty that was there for one of the feast to farmers that needed assistance because their crops had been burned by the Dark Army. I opened the book to the page of the last entry, and slid it across the table where the man stood. "You may call me Blade, please sit yourself after you secure your weapons then sign the book. We will then wait for the princess to talk to the king."

The debate from the meeting chamber was getting louder as I sat in one of the chairs. I wanted to be in there in my chair and state my plans but I had my job to deal with the stranger now. Always something was coming up which sometimes made me resent my position at the castle at times. The king had spoken about my promotion to General of the Royal Army but things kept slowing down the process. But he promised sincerly "All in its due time, my son."

I thought about the princess. How she had handled my sword with ease and confidence. How she had grown over the years. Actually becoming quite beautiful. It had been quite a while since we had been face to face. The Queen would not allow anyone not in the 'high faction' to have much access to her, but the Queen had not yet faced the facts that the girl of yesterday was now a powerful woman and leader in her own right. She had even arranged this meeting of the leaders of the other kingdoms tonight.

Harris smiled as the guard insisted that his lackies would accompany him. Not wanting to have to shed blood, he silently agreed and followed them into the waiting room.

Harris merely nodded as the guard introduced himself. "You really think I will give up my weapons when surrounded by this many hostiles? It isn't going to happen." He spoke calmly, no tone of agression in his voice - he was merely stating fact.

Seeing the look of consternation in Blade's face, he took the axe from his back, and held it loosely in his right hand, "I will leave this here, but my daggers stay."

As he looked at the large, surprisingly quietly for a man of such size. "Blade, I refuse to sign the book at this time. I may do so once I have spoken with the King." Seeing Blade starting to speak, Harris simply raised his massive hand, "I am Harris, that is all you need to know right now, if you are present in the meeting, you will find out more."

He walked over to the chest which Blade had informed him was the place to store his weapon. Noting immediately that the chest would not contain the axe, Harris simply placed it against the wall next to the chest. Heavy blade rested against the floor, the heavy oak handle nearing Harris's head as it leant at a slight angle against the wall.

He then walked to the opposite side of the room, standing erect, with his back facing a wall. His giant form stood tall in the room, and his large, muscled arms crossed against his chest as he waited.

He moulded his face to show pure calm. However, inside he was reeling with impatience. This was taking too long for his liking, and he suspected that this Blade would try everything possible to obstruct his plans. Harris, however, had different plans, he would do what needed to be done tonight, regardless of who he had to go through.

His mind started to become impatient as he waited for the princess to return. He listened to the arguments coming from the room next to the one he stood in and gently shook his head. "They are useless, friend Blade. They seem all to be separate in their desires. We need to be as one if we are to beat the Dark Army."

As Blade made his way past the mage, Khan nodded gently to his request. Khan stood there and waited for the crowd to dissipate. Specifically for Esca to leave. He nodded to himself when the young one started to fix the door and he moved back towards the castle where Blade was taking the large man. He seemed strangely familiar, but the old mage just couldn't put his finger on it.

Khan slowly wandered into the main office where Blade was making an attempt to get the Goliath to put his weapons away. Khan's soft feet stepped in as the man refused to sign the book and spoke of not putting all of his weapons away. It was time for some words with the stubborn.

He slowly approached Harris. He made sure the butt of his staff hit the ground with every other step. It was the most threatening he could be with out actually doing something. He stopped in front of the man and looked up at him.

"Well...I think..."
Khan started seeming a little bit unconcentrated as he stroked his beard and spoke. He could even come off as senile sometimes.
"...That you should obey the rules of the castle should you desire an appointment as much as you claim."
Khan let out a small cough before continuing.
"Or you can...not see the King. Either is good for us...As you should well know, these guards weapons...are just for emergency purposes. You should trust them, if you wish for the King to trust you Good Sir..."
With that Khan turned around and started back towards the desk.
"Just a suggestion..."
He finished as he started rubbing his beard again as he moved over to Blade's desk.

Harris would simply igonore the mage for now. Not being phased by his attempt at intimidation.

As he stood against the wall, still somewhat impatient, he turned his gaze to the mage "Mage, I feel I have met you once before, what is your name?"

He pressed his mind to recall where he had met the man with the grey beard before. All his mind would say to Harris was that the mage may have once been an aquaitance when the huge man was a child.

Harris waited, growing impatient as he awaited the return of the princess.

Blade sat there as Harris moved to the wall. Kahn entered and approched the hugh man, and gave him some words of advise. If Harris would understand the reason for all of this perhaps he would understand why all this is nescesary. There had been three assination attempts this month alone against the King. It is believed they were mercenaries from the Dark Army but it was never proved because each had to be slain before they could be captured and quistioned. Harris did not seem to be here for another assasination attempt but there was no reason to think that it was not either

It was true that the voices coming from the meeting seemed to be divided but that is what this meeting was for. to unite the kingdoms. The king had told Blade before, "When one is added to many times and the equation is still one then that one united can defeat many that are divided"

Blade felt uneasy not having his sword as the Princecess Esca still held it as he left the court yard earlier. Not only for the blade itself but the three gems embedded into the handle gave Blade immence assistance. The one gem that alerted him to danger approching would be greatly vauled at this moment. It would glow in different colors and brightness as it interpeted different threats to the holder of the sword. It would prove invaulable to Blade now for whether to believe that Harris was being truthful about joining the alliance or whether he actually wanted to slay the King.

Blade turned his attention to the two men. Perhaps together with Khan ,we could get some things settled he thought.

Harris stood for only a few minutes longer, before his impatience got the better of him.

He simply walked out of the room, silently, ignoring the protests of the two men inside the room. As he walked out of the door, he was welcomed by a grey stone wall, the castle obviously served one purpose, and one purpose alone, defense.

The lanterns, postioned evenly along the walls of the passageway provided just enough light, and seemed somewhat dark compared to the room he had just left. As he took the few steps to the door in which the King was in the meeting, Harris ignored the two guards to either side and walked straight in.

As he pushed open the heavy oak door, he entered a room made light by many candles and lanterns. In the centre of the room was a large table, where the King sat, at the head, with the other leaders. Three of the chairs were empty and Harris guessed these were the seats occupied previously by the princess and the two men he had just left.

The room was considerably warm, due to the large fire that was roaring in the large stone fireplace on the far side of the room. The fire along with the heavy rugs on the floor assisted in keeping the room warm.

Harris saw that the princess was knelt beside the King, their heads held close to each other, conversing.

"My name is Harris, I am here to help you work together and defeat the Dark Army. Basically because you can't seem to think as one and you each have your own agendas. I, on the other hand, wish only to eradicate this evil so we can all live in peace."

The voice of the massive man bellowed inside the room, and all heads turned towards him, looks of disgust on most of the men's faces.

Together, both the King and the Princess looked towards him, rage showing sdlightly in their faces.

"I told you to await my return." The princess spoke angrily as she looked upwards at the massive warrior.

Harris simply awaited a response from all others. Mainly he waited for the King to speak.

Khan turned from Blade, their conversation time interrupted once again. He heaved a heavy sigh as turned back around to see that Harris was already bellowing to the King. His impatience was beginning to agitate him.

Khan moved over to the giant before placing a hand gently upon his shoulder and moved around him into the room the King was in.

"The Princess gave you a direct order sir. I suggest you obey it."
With that Khan slid his hand down the mans shoulder to his chest and gave him a push. The Mage was stronger than he looked. The shove moved Harris back far enough that he could slammed the door shut.

He turned back to the Princess kneeling beside the King.

"Continue dear Esca."
Khan then took a place beside the door to ensure that no one else would enter to interrupt the proceedings.

Just as the two men and everyone were staring at each other a messenger ran into the room,"the Dark Army... The Dark Army!" he was shouting, "They have been spotted gathering about ten miles directly west of the kingdoms outskirts!"

As Khan stepped into the room and pushed Harris out of the room in which the King was having his meeting, he growled deeply and took a few steps back towards the stone wall of the corridor, preparing to smash through the door which had been closed.

As he heard the message shouted, he smiled, not realising he was, and subconsciously moved his hand towards where he axe was usually positioned and sent his hulking body through the door, the weight and force of the man smashing through the lock and sendinmg him into the room. He managed to stop himself before crashing also into the table around which the people were talking. He ignored the looks of disgust on those people's faces.

"How many are there?" Harris asked the question of the messenger. Now, at the feel of an impending battle, his voice was calm, he always found a certain calm when in battle, or preparing for battle.

"Maybe ten thousand." The messenger spoke quickly as he looked up at the massive man. Harris was over a foot and a half taller than Harris, and his manner and size obviously intimidated the smaller man.

Harris then turned his attention to the King. Dropping himself down to one knee, he spoke calmly with confidence and resolve "King, I ask you to allow me to lead whatever troops you send out to meet the enemy. I wish only to be of assistance in eradicating the threat of the Dark Army. I am a great warrior and my axe is yours if you accept it. Just allow me to show you my worth."

His eyes showed sincerity as he spoke, and inside he felt a certain pride, this was the first time he had ever bowed or knelt to someone. And yet, as he knelt here, before the King, he felt that it was the right thing to do. Inside he hoped that the King would accept his service and give him the chance to prove his worth.

Harris knew that, as well as being a mighty warrior and fighter, he was a great strategist. He had ensured on numerous occasions that villages of farmers and their wives remained safe during attacks simply using strategy as he fought hundreds of the Dark Army with only one other person to aid him.

As he knelt, he patiently awaited the response from the King. Only if the King told him to leave he would, he would listen to none but the King and the Princess.

OOC :: If you guys are cool with having Harris as an NPC I am. I figure I'll play him this post and we'll go from there.

Khan had moved over to the side of the door before it exploded into splinters. He hung his head as everyone in the rooms eyes shot back to the massive man interrupting these proceedings. He heaved a heavy sigh out of his nose as Harris got his wish and spoke to the King.

Should it have been any other Red Mage standing by the door Harris would be nothing more than a pile of ash. Khan reluctantly kept calm as Esca frowned at the man.

When Harris had finished his speech Khan picked him up by the arm and whispered to him as he lead him back to the room where Blade sat.

"Now you have said you words to the King... I'm sure he will take them into consideration while you take a seat... and they finish their meeting... Perhaps you should talk to Blade about where he would like you stationed... should their assult gain ground?"
The truth was the King new all about the approaching Dark Army. The Blue Mages had warned him on their arrival. They were marching from the Kingdom of Izlude which was located near the Blue Mages home of Lou Yang.

As Khan seated Harris he looked up at Blade.

"Get someone to fix this door, then speak to this man about positioning inside the castle walls... until the King sees fit to... deal with him."
Khan's speech had reverted back to that of an incompetent old man. He had pauses in odd places and it seemed as if he spaced out a couple of times. Truth was, people were starting to believe that it wasn't an act anymore. That the old Red Mage was really becoming senile.

This didn't bother Khan much. That's exactly what he wanted.

He moved slowly back into the King's room. The Mage had nothing but time.

"Now that you have spoken with the king perhaps you will sign the book.!" said Blade as he slid the heavy book in front of Harris.

Harris had a look on his face like he would rather put the axe deep into Blade's brain because of the turn of events. Muttering loudly he finally grabbed the ink well and stylus and wrote into the book. Shoving it back towards Blade he said loudly, " Yeah well I guess that name in the book will keep us all from dying! This is really stupid."

Blade glanced at the name and it did not match any of the names of anyone that would be a threat to the kingdom or king and replied. "It would have been easier Harris if you had just signed it, but that is in the past. I myself have the power to enlist you in the army if you wish. What I need right now is someone to go to the bell tower and tell the keeper to ring the warning of attack for the villagers. Then the Sargent of arms needs to be told of the pending attack. Then come back here and report to me. And do it quickly, I will have further instructions once the King is ready. You may take your weapons. Go quickly my friend!"

Harris rose his huge body and looked deeply at Blade wondering if he should do this or wait for the king. Then deciding that at least this is some kind of action and perhaps he would find friendlier warriors at the army barracks he simply just boomed, " OK Blade I'll be back!" then left through the door slamming it as he left.

"Blade! Come in here please!", shouted the king from the meeting room. Blade rose and entered to find the King standing with Blade's great sword and an amulet draped around the hilt. "It has been decided that now is the time for you to become the general of the Royal Army. Kneel before me knight"

Blade knelled down on one knee before the King. The king then raised the sword high into the air and said loudly so the whole room could hear easily. "I now pronounce you the General of the Royal Army! I had wanted to to this with a elaborate setting and celebration but the times have become short for that." The great sword slowly touched first the right then the left shoulder. "It is done. Take this amulet shows that you indeed hold this position and also it being crafted by mages and wizards, has power to help you with your deeds. Good luck Blade. Stand." The king then handed the sword to Blade, and returned to his seat.

Blade removed the amulet and put it around his neck and put the sword in his hilt. The power of the amulet pulsed throughout his body. Then he walked over and sat in his chair next to the King reserved for the General of the Kings Army. "Now lets get down to bushiness here" he spoke to the others.

Just then the tower bells started to ring the warning for the kingdom as Harris had been instructed.

As things were finishing up quickly in the room most of the people were rushing out to do their part in preparation for the battle that for sure was coming.

Blade spoke to the king quickly "I am going out to see where they are sire. Please find cover or go to the chateau. I sorry but I must go now!"

Blade rushed out of the castle and to the stable and mounted his sheer black steed. The horse was already excited from the shouts and quick movement of the town people and soldiers. He guided the horse outside and headed in the direction that the messenger had said that the Dark Army was supposed to be. The name Lord Kharlin Konran was echoing throughout his brain. This is just a scouting mission Blade kept saying to himself as he pushed the horse to gallop faster. Should see them in less then 30 minutes at this rate he thought

Esca retired to her room shortly after the frustrations earlier with the man in the courtyard. However, in her room she heard the bells ring. They bode ill now, bringing word to all ears that could hear them. Destruction was well on its way. But how much? And could it be avoided?

Esca quickly ran to her chamber doors locking them. Turning to face her wardrobe which was hanging in a closet of which the door was opened quite a bit.

"A destruction of a good kingdom is on its way. How many more will follow? This is not a fate I wanted for the people of this place. However, its inevitable. I will fight along side my citizens, and only hope they will not hate me long after this kingdom is overrun..." Esca sighed and took in a deep breath. Walking to the wardrobe she pushed all her dresses aside to reveal a box. She dragged it out. "I will fight. I promise. I will not abandon my people."

Esca opened the box to reveal some odd clothes. There was a white hooded like shirt. It tied up around the neck, the hood, it was lined with blue and a faint color of gold. Esca smiled. Then pulled out the pants of which she would wear now, along with the boots way at the bottom of the box.

A couple minutes later after slipping in to her outfit she ran to her bed side, lifting the blanket and reaching underneath. From underneath she pulled out a leather plain pouch, what was inside would remain a secret. Then a second leather pouch, filled with some silver and gold. Finally, she reached further under the bed to pull out a bundle. Within in the bunlde lay two jade daggers, and a sword. The sword, was very new, given to her by the general. General Hammond. The handle had a imprint of a rose. Esca stood up and held the sword out infront of her.

"You will be my guard." Esca said as she quickly fathered her belongings and ran to the window. Opening the window she could see people rushing about on the streets. She climbed out on to the ledge still staring in to the distance at the people, as she bagan her descent down the side of the palace walls in to the courtyard.

"I wonder where Khan has gotten off to... I have to get to the stables." Esca said as she snuck around, much like a thief would. Her attempt was to join up with the army itself and ride along side of them. She pulled her hood up over her head, and a small piece of cloth was tied around her lower part of her face.

Finally reaching the stables she crept inside. Just as she thought, her horse, Zephyr was still in the stable. She smiled from under her mask now.
