A few things, from one very old member of AL to seemingly numerous newer ones:

Daigotsu, I remember seeing your face way back when so there's not much I can say to you other than.. uh... hi? lol

Okashii, so you are taking credit as AL's recruiter? Need I remind you that I've been on that board a full year longer than you? XD

But yes, the older version of AL's rp board was better. Generally, I think most of its problems now stem from the Multiverse and the veteran members' general distaste for it.

However, this isn't AL so back to GW talk:

I'm not particularly fond of chat-based roleplays. As Okashii said, it's a harder to write well in that sort of environment, fast-paced I mean. I'm not entirely against it though, so I'll give it a shot here after some other things die down. (I was prematurely registered thanks to a certain chibi's human alter-ego

Just so y'all understand, the writing in the chat... You can choose to fight that way if your opponent agrees. And by "that way" i mean turn-based.

I spoke with Daigotsu the other day considering his chat-based roleplaying experience. As far as combat was concerned he was used to what he called T1, turn-based. He also mentioned T2, a hit-claims-based system. and then something I hadn't heard of, T3, which is basically what we do here, Freestyle. It's a speed-based honor system where attacks are thrown, but hits are not claimed by the attacker. If the opponent can not respond within a reasonable amount of time (say roughly five seconds or the amount of time it takes for your opponent to launch two more actions) then usually they are expected to take the hit.

I'll talk more about my preference and the immigration some of the chat fighters have made from Freestyle to whatever at another time and another place. Right now i just wanted to make sure you AL'ers understood how we were going to probably be doing things. I don't expect any of you to participate in the chat fights, but it'd be neat if you guys wanted to observe some time. I also don't expect that you should be left out of battles simply because you're not used to chat fighting. We should be able to somehow blend the forum battles and chat battles into some kind of coherence.

Anyways...

Skye: Yes, I am taking credit for "discovering" Blade on AL. He was in my Initiation Group, and I noted the potential in him, same way I did for you and Complex when I saw you in action. GC is still underrated, but you're really beginning to shine like a diamond.

And Blade has developed, well, too. ^_^

So excuse me if I'm proud to have been accurate in my beliefs that you would be big names. XD

Derald: I like our mods...but the general system in the forum nowadays is not anything like what it was back when I first arrived on the site, and the days before. Frankly, I think you push too much blame on the mods; Free's attention has become increasingly drawn by RR, and being head admin, he HAD to involve himself somehow -_-;

Blade: OK, Andy...I can give Chat-based a try, but I would have to do T1. I despise being put into situations where I have to act without thinking things through. I hate having my hand forced, and that might cost me a fight in T2 or T3. So I'll stick to Sparring (Open or Hybrid) and I'll give T1 Chat a try.
