You know, you're more right than you realise with that "inspired by" comment, but equally you're wrong. Eragon was not inspired by Star Wars and Lord of the Rings.
It was plagiarised from them.
Let's examine the comparisons. First, you have the evil overlord Galbatorix (Emperor Palpatine) who was once part of a mysterious order of warriors, the Dragon Riders (Jedi Knights), but turned bad (became Sith). For years after Galbatorix (Palpatine) destroyed the council (Jedi council), many believed dragons (Jedi) to be extinct.
Eragon (Luke Skywalker) lives with his uncle and cousin (uncle and aunt) on a farm (moisture farm) in a small village. After finding a blue stone that turns out to be a dragon egg (meeting Ben Kenobi), Eragon (Luke) is forced to hide in the forest while Galbatorix (Palpatine) orders the farm and the village destroyed, killing his uncle and cousin (uncle and aunt) by his two Ra'zac (division of stormtroopers).
Eragon (Luke) becomes a Dragon Rider (Jedi Knight) through his bond with Saphira (Ben Kenobi), and seeks revenge on the Ra'zac and Galbatorix (the Empire). He is taught in the ways of the Dragon Rider (the Force) by Brom (also Ben Kenobi). Eragon (Luke) is appalled by the way the Empire (...the Empire) is treating it's people, slaughtering the town of Yazuac (destroying the planet Alderaan).
Eragon and his band are lured into an ambush, but are saved by a stranger named Murtagh (Han Solo coming to Luke's rescue). Brom dies, but reveals that he was once a Dragon Rider (Jedi Knight) before his dragon was killed. The new company of Eragon and Murtagh go in search of the Varden (the Rebel Alliance), and are forced into rescuing an elf named Arya (Princess Leia), who can lead them to the Varden (Rebel Alliance) from a prison where she is being tortured (the Death Star).
I'm bored with this, and can't be bothered to go on any further, but the fact you can replace the words in the brackets with their equivalents is testament enough
