» Petunia Maple Cosgrove «

❝ It's not who you trust, it's what you trust then with. ❞
NameHer legal name is 'Petunia,' but that name is so horribly long and posh, so she has shortened it to simply 'Pet.' That's what everyone calls her now, in fact, she doubts that many even know her real name.
YearShe has been in Gryffincy School of Magic for seven years, meaning this is her last. She has mixed emotions about leaving the school and setting off into the real world.
RoleCharacter four - Taken in by relatives who chose to remain neutral after his/her parents went mad from a brutal attack by a follower of Dralin. [~ Subject To Change]
SexShe is female, and is bisexual.
WandPet's wand is a dark brown, 14 inch wand made up of wood from the hawthorn tree with a dragon heart string core. It is not stiff in the sense it can be bent without being broken immediately, but at the same time it is not overly springy either.
AppearancePet is an extremely small girl, and that is generally the first thing you will notice about her. Standing at 5'2 and weighing a measly 94 lbs, she is tiny in all meanings of the word. Her slim figure comes both from her giddy personality and fast metabolism, something which has been slowing down as she has gotten older but has not yet stopped, and she will abuse the ability to eat without getting fat as long as she has it. She has a small - average chest size, with a 32 B, and is often mistaken for a much younger child to the point where she was once not allowed into a 15+ movie as they didn't believe she was illegible.
Her hair is a silky black colour, which falls down in simple waves past her shoulders. She usually does nothing with this, though will top it off with her signature fluffy hat, complete with black ears. Her hair frames her face nicely, which is a round shape. She has light blue eyes with long eyelashes and eyebrows that are usually curved into a sarcastic stance. She has small lips, just like the rest of her, with a small, yet not button, nose. Her skin tone is pale and she tends to burn easily in the sun.
She has a tattoo on her right arm of a woman's face, which is curved into a disapproving scowl. Unfortunately, this is one of only real memory the girl has of her mother. She has seen pictures, of course, but it's not the same as witnessing it first hand. She drew a very rough sketch for the tattoo artist, making it not very accurate, and got it imprinted onto her skin. She had come in from playing in the mud in the dress she had been supposed to wear that evening, presumably to a party, though Pet couldn't remember the details. Her mother had given her that disapproving scowl before quickly rushing her to get changed. Pet always thought it funny that some important events can fly right by us, whilst boring events can sometimes be remember forever.
Her style is very adventurous. She tends to wear darker colours, and usually finds her outfits in charity stores or thrift shops, rather than brand names. As for scarring, acne and freckles, Pet has very few. As mentioned before, Pet burns in the sun, rather than tan or freckle, leaving her with only a few scattered in random places, such as her left arm or neck. She generally does not have acne, though when she does get it, she gets it bad. She hasn't had serious acne in several months now, and is hoping to keep it that way. She has several scars along her right wrist from when she suffered from depression in fourth year, and a scar just above her right leg where she had her appendix removed.
PersonalityPet comes across as a rule breaker and authority questioner, mostly because of her confident attitude and loud mouth. And I suppose, that could be said for some things, though it's all about why she breaks the rules. She doesn't just break rules for fun, though she will admit it is sort of exciting, trying not to get caught. It's more when she strongly believes authority is wrong. If she thinks she is right, she will defend her case, though this usually doesn't work, as adults tend to be ignorant and think children don't have anything useful to say. When that happens, it's time to take matters into her own hands and just bend a rule or two.
Pet can be difficult. She is hard to persuade and hates being embarrassed, making her extremely stubborn. Almost as if it's a side effect, her stubbornness seems to also make her bossy at times. She can be very selfish, but she herself doesn't see this trait as a bad thing - only those who think of themselves before others can get far in life, in her opinion. That being said, if she considers you her friend, she is unbelievably loyal. She doesn't have too many close friends, though, and it's unsure whether it's because of her loud and hard to handle personality, because she pushes people away, or both.
Pet can hold a conversation, but that doesn't mean she will choose to. If you are boring or annoying, then she won't bother wasting time and effort on you, and will literally just stop being involved in the conversation by not replying or listening. If you are sensitive, you will probably find her bitter sarcasm and mean humor a bit too much to handle, though when she calls friends 'idiots' she doesn't mean it in a negative way, though not necessarily a positive way, either. She also must always get her point across - if she has an opinion on something, she will let people know. The same applies to people, if she doesn't like you then you will probably notice.
She is easily excited, and danger excites her more than anything. When she is hyper, she will laugh at almost anything and jump around a lot, as well as talking even more than usual, and accidentally blurt things out. It's usually best to keep away from her when she is like this, and she has scared some people away from her by having first impressions whilst she was in this giddy stage.
You can rely on Pet to keep a secret, once she hears something, she is very unlikely to tell anyone else, unless she feels obliged to do so. She's always thought it downright cruel to tell other people's secrets. There is a difference being mean to a bitch, and a bitch that tells you her secret. If someone were to tell Pet something, then it obviously means that they trust her in some form of the word, and Pet enjoys having people's trust and being liked. She enjoys being considered suspicious and being hated too, to some extent, as well, as it is almost funny seeing people be cautious around her. Maybe this is why she is such a good liar.
She is cunning and devious, though this is probably more because she is so smart. She has been a straight A student since day one, the only exception being the end of year three and year four, when her depression lowered her grades drastically. Though she generally does not enjoy learning, she has an amazing short term memory, which helps her to study for upcoming tests. As well as this, she tends to keep random bits of knowledge in her long term memory, and often surprises herself by knowing answers to questions she didn't even know she knew.
HistoryPet was born to Kelsey and Damon Cosgrove, both of whom were a witch and wizard, but Kelsey was a Mud Blood and Damon was of Blood Traitor heritage, making Pet a Blood Traitor. She lived with her parents in London when she was little, an only child that valued her parents' opinions above anything else and was a little spoiled. This was her reality for four years. She would play with the small
bichon frise dog called Alfie that the family had bought a year after Pet was born, whilst her father watched television or read a book and her mother went to work. Looking back on it now, Pet doesn't remember any magical events happening, yet she somehow always knew that both her and her parents possessed magical qualities. Maybe she was told at some point, but if she was, it wasn't a thing she remembered.
When she was four years old, she remembered sitting down beside Alfie as she had always done when the sky got darker and darker. She started wondering what was taking her mother so long to get back, and her father started pacing. He sent her to bed, but half an hour later he burst into the room and told Pet to start packing everything, whilst he talked urgently into the phone. Pet hopped up and grabbed the bag she had been planning on using for school the next year and started shoving everything in, all the while listening in on the conversation.
"I'm going to send Petunia ove- No, listen... Yes. She's packing now, I'll send her to the train station and- well why not? She's well able, she's very... Liste-
Listen. No. I can't, you don't have enough room... Don't be ridiculous. Look, Kelsey and I will be there for tomorrow and if not then-" his blue eyes had glanced over to Pet then, who had just finished packing. "Bye, be there," he said, before hanging up.
He then ushered her out the door, grabbing a broomstick on the way out and sat her down in front of him. "Hold on," he ordered, before the broom burst into the air. Flying low but fast, he sped to the nearest train station, bought her a ticket and told her she was to go to Aunt Margaret & Stacey's house once she got off, and that "Mummy and I will be there soon." She nodded, confused. Just then, a man with a dark cloak strode onto the station, not looking pleased. Her eyes flickered to him, but before she could say anything, he had yelled something whilst pointing a stick at her father. Damon whipped out a stick of his own and flicked the laser of light that had been directed at him away before yelling at Pet to board the train. She quickly did as she was told and didn't look back, too afraid of what she might see.
She arrived in Scotland early the next morning, with several stops along the way, and almost stayed on too long when she spotted Margaret and Stacey standing on the station platform, their adopted son Tommy standing next to them. She quickly got off and walked over to them, giving them a hug in greeting, before they all got in the car and drove to their house in the countryside, which was completely different than London. She stayed there ever since, living with the very cheerful family who sometimes were a little too cheerful for Pet's liking. Needless to say, Pet's parents never did show up, though they soon got a call from someone who mentioned a "hospital" and said that they were "a little out of it."
Pet has visited them approximately eleven times since, and each time she hates it. It turned out that the hospital had been a mental hospital. They only recognized her once, the sixth time. It was her mother.
"Petunia, where's Alfie? I didn't feed him today, do you know if Daddy did?" Pet had frozen in spot, shocked, horrified and overjoyed all at once. She just shook her head, for the nurse entered then and asked for her to leave, to which she did so. Ever since, she's been hanging on to the hope that it will happen again, but it never has.
It was about a month after this visit she started to get depressed. Every small thing annoyed her deeply, and when the constant nagging of her year mates turned into full on bullying, she started to cut. She only did this a few times, and was glad when she finally told Margaret what was happening. The bullying stopped completely after a talk to the school principal, and her depression disappeared, leaving her with only a few scars to remember it.
She started Gyffincry in first year, and is now in seventh year. Though she finds a lot of the people attending rather annoying, students and teachers alike, she can honestly say that she has heard of worse schools, and overall considers it a happy enviroment.
