Earth and her colonies

Tips: 0.00 INK Postby SSJHunterKiller on Wed Oct 04, 2006 9:43 pm

Seto settled himself down in the shuttle seat and buckled himself in. He was getting ready to head back to Earth from the L2 colony cluster. There was a meeting that he needed to attend. Seto didn't really want to attend the meeting, but as the heir to the Kusanagi fortune and a respected diplomat he needed to be there. As soon as Seto was buckled in, the pilot signaled that they were ready to take off. It was a private shuttle so they could come and go as they pleased. What Seto really wanted was to get back to Earth and to see Faye. He hasn't seen her in about a month, first she was on a training retreat and once she finally returned, Seto had already left for the colonies. Once the shuttle finally left the colony, a flight attendant came around and provided Seto with a sandwich and a glass of champagne. After that quick snack, Seto settled himself in for the journey, he planned on reading a book, but before Seto could even finish a full chapter Seto had fallen asleep.

--------------------------

Tadakastu or "Khan” was ducked behind of a flipped metal table that had somewhere around fifty dents in it from gun fire. He was pissed. This was supposed to be a simple jump in, make a quick arrest and get out. But as usual, there were complications, these complications just happened to involve shotgun and machine gun fire. Seven of the Protectorate members had come along for thing mission, Tadakastu knew for a fact at least two of them were dead. Tadakastu hoped that Faye was still alive, she was the best member of the team that he had. From the other side of the room the gunfire died Tadakastu heard some muttering and the soft click of a pin being pulled from a grenade. A few seconds later, a grenade bounced next to him, only to be kicked out of the way by a swift kick from Faye.

"Having a little trouble there sir?" Faye asked in a joking tone as she ducked behind the table as well. Tadakastu gave her a stern look. He wasn’t the most enjoyable person to be around and had almost no sense of humor, and none while fighting.

"Where are the others?"

"They've moved around the back and set the charges just like you ordered. They should be going off in about three.....two.....one.....now!" As Faye finished an explosion erupted behind the small group of criminals that they were there to arrest. All at once they turned around to see a gaping hole in the wall. That was just what Faye and Tadakastu were waiting for. In one motion, they both stood, guns aimed at the criminals. They didn't have a choice anymore, both opened fire and the criminals were cut down from behind.

About half an hour later, the clean up crew had arrived, that was the name the Protectorate gave to the real police. As members of the Protectorate, they were above some of the laws that slowed down members of the real police force. Once things began to settle down, the five remaining members of the Protectorate gathered into their van and headed back to the headquarters.

"I wish we didn't have to do that. It always leaves a bad taste in my mouth when I have to kill someone from behind. That's not the way the strong should act."

Faye, who was seated across from Tadakastu smiled.

"This isn't your personal quest for strength sir. Those were violent criminals that had been convicted of several crimes. They needed to be put away, but they wouldn't allow it, so we did what we had to do."

"That still doesn't mean that I have to like it."

The van came to a halt in the underground Protectorate Garage, Tadakastu was the first one out, and he always was. Where he went right after missions was a mystery to the rest of the team. They had tried to follow him several times but each time they had lost him. Faye was the last one out, after checking all the gear, she locked everything up and headed back to the surface and the real police station, where her car was parked. Faye checked her watch, it was almost noon, Seto was due back in just under two hours that gave her just enough time to get cleaned up and do a little bit of shopping before he got back.

Kathy watched on the view screen as Seto's shuttle departed from the colony. Gemini wasn't even close to the colony, but she had made a habit of watching important people come and go form the colonies, a little paranoia of hers. Seto was a brilliant man that she looked up to and adored, some might even say that she was in love with him, but it didn't matter. Seto married some pretty little thing from Earth, a police officer or something. Now all Kathy cared about was making sure he was safe, not for personal reasons, but because Seto was one of the most well known diplomats in the system. He had been a played a key role in trying to convince the Jupiter colonies to stay, and thought the effort failed he had done his best. Once the shuttle was on a course to Earth Kathy turned back to her normal duties. Just as she did, the ranking officer on Gemini stepped in and motioned that her shift was over. Kathy nodded and headed out to her quarters, she didn't often spend time alone, but tonight was different, and she was in the closing chapters of a book she was reading. Many people laughed at her because of what she read books from long before the colonies were established, but she found that books from back then were more interesting than the current books. Especially some of the science fiction books, she read those to laugh. Some of the things humanity believed that they would have at this point in time got her every time. Her favorite was that they expected to have flying cars in the year 1999 C.E. and here they were in AC 395 still driving cars with wheels. Once she got to her quarters, she quickly showed and changed. Before she picked up her book she sent a quick message to her brother who was stationed on Scorpio. Once that was done, she picked up her book and dove stomach first onto the bed, opening the book as she landed.

Seto woke up as the shuttle touched down for a landing, shaking the cabin a bit. With a yawn, he looked around for his book, which was now lying on the floor under his seat. He decided to just wait until he was getting up to pick up the book. Once the shuttle came to a stop, Seto grabbed his book and headed out of the shuttle. Once Seto disembarked the shuttle, he was that Faye was there waiting for him, something that he hadn't expected to see. This brought a smile to Seto's face.

"It's good to see you darling. How was the trip to the colonies?"

"Nothing special happened, just the usual diplomatic speeches, so boring."

Faye laughed as Seto climbed into the passenger seat of the red sports car. Once he was in and buckled up, Faye took off heading for home, she knew that the first thing Seto would want to do was change out of that suit.

The pilot watched as the car pulled away, and as soon as it was out of sight there was a chirp from a small radio in his pocket.

"Can you confirm that the package is safely back on Earth?" The voice that came out of the radio seemed cold and uncaring.

"Confirmation complete. Mr. Kusanagi is safely back on Earth with his wife. Mission complete and all signs are green. Send the message to Jupiter. Seto is back on Earth, where he will be the safest. All is go for Operation Nova."

"Rodger that. We'd suggest taking your vacation now and spending it in the tropics, away from the major cities."

The pilot didn't even respond, he simply shut off the radio. After doing his quick post flight checklist the pilot left the shuttle and headed for the locker rooms. Once in there the pilot met with the two men that he was told would be there. One was the "brains" and the other was the "brawn" of the pair. The man in the business suit stepped forward and handed the pilot a manila folder. The pilot quickly rummaged through it, all the money was there. With a smile and a nod, the pilot turned to leave. In once quick movement the other man mover forward, grabbed the pilot by the forehead and pulled back. The pilot fell backwards and cracked his head open on the tile floor. The man quickly checked to see that the pilot was dead, before taking the envelope for himself. They both looked around and quickly left the locker room, leaving the dead pilot there.

Kathy closed the book. She had finally finished it. She lay back in bed for a few seconds, staring blankly at the ceiling, thinking about the ending. She smiled and began giggling to herself. After a few minuets of that she finally laid the book on her dresser and changed into some of her "civilian" cloths. Right now the only thing she had on her mind was heading to the Gemini's gym for a nice long run to work off the mixture of tension from work and the excitement of the books ending. It took her about twenty minuets to get to the gym from her quarters. She took her time walking there; she saw no point in doing her work out on the way to the gym. The gym, like always, was almost empty when she got there. There were a few other officers there that Kathy recognized and a few that she didn't. She headed down into the "basement" of the gym, where there was a long track circling a soccer/football/field hockey field. There were three young kids playing soccer on the field with an elderly woman watching over them. Smiling, Kathy began her running routine, eight laps which equaled out to almost two miles.

Tadakastu hated this feeling. Even back when he was a criminal he had never taken another person's life. It had taken him to become a police officer to force him to do the ultimate crime. After every mission Tadakastu preferred to spend time alone, facing death wasn't something he enjoyed doing, but he was good at it. And every time he was forced to take another’s life he visited his parents grave, several times when he was either coming or going, Tadakastu would see Seto in the save graveyard.

"The strong should be the ones that live on the top, but that doesn't mean that the weaker ones should be killed or done away with. If that were the case, only one person would be left in the entire system, the single person that was stronger than the rest."

Tadakastu dropped a bundle of roses on the grave and walked away. Tadakastu was struggling in his mind. Should he take the path of the protector of the weak while trying to keep order, or should he protect order no matter the cost? Tadakastu still wasn't sure what he was going to do, but in his heart he knew that this would be a very important decision somewhere down the line.

-----------------------------

Faye pulled into the driveway of their house, which was larger than average, something Seto had insisted on when they got married. Both Faye and Seto climbed out of the care and entered the house through the attached garage. Faye gave Seto a quick kiss before the actually got into the house. Jeeves, the butler of the Khan family who Seto just could not bring himself to get rid of when his foster parents died, greeted them as they entered.

"It is good to see you again Master Seto I trust everything went well in the colonies?"

"Well you know, peace is something that people want to earn through talking, which has failed in the past, yet seems to be working now."

This was a little routine that they went through after even meeting, Jeeves asked because it was his duty and Seto acted like a little kid about it while Faye just smiled. She never understood the point of having a butler, but then again her family wasn't rich growing up, they had everything they needed and a bit more, but they weren't rich. Faye quickly ducked behind the bar and began making herself and Seto a quick drink. Jeeves would have done it, but Faye liked the drinks her way, and so did Seto.

The shuttle landed in a nearby station. Captain of the 5th Russian Protectorate Squad of Moscow walked out with a dazed expression. He was not used to inter-space travel and was getting sick quickly.
The officer stumbled toward the edge and vomitted. He felt...very, very sick. The pilot strode out and handed him a pill, swallowing it, Dennis V.Ritchoven leaned back and sighed. He felt better now...

Then he grabbed his radio, the solar energy channeled into it slowly. Dennis nodded to the pilot, "Thanks, safe trip back." The pilot laughed and walked back into the shuttle, it took off once more. He looked like a total stranger here, what was this country, the pilot didn't specify.
But sitting in a station with a military uniform was enough to get
anyone pointing at you and whispering in hushed voices.

"This is bad." He muttered, he got up and approached a man.
"Excuse me, do y-" The man hurried away quickly. Dennis raised an eyebrow. They didn't like military men or something.

The radio crackled, Dennis hit the "Transmission." at once.
"Dennis? Captain Dennis? You're alive!"
"Any idea what happened?"
"Some other personnel you barged into knocked you out, they headed for Jupiter and dropped you in Mars."
"Oh great. Can you pick me up?"
"Where are you?"
"I have absolutely no idea."
"Thats a highly TSP area, sir. You might get help from them."
"Is that the only option?"
"As far as I'm concerned. Or you can wait for us to pick you up."
"Pinpoint my heat signal."
"Aye sir, gotcha. We're coming in two to three days."
"TWO TO T-"

The radio cut off. "Great." He swore, "JUST GREAT!" He roared, everyone hurried away from him.
Walking out of the station glumly, he wondered how he was supposed to survive three days without food and water.
He stalked towards the gym and entered, he hadn't eaten a single bite since that day in Mars, and he wasn't very happy either.

He stared at the girl running laps, he would have joined her if he wasn't so drowsy and tired. He leaned back on a seat, groaning.

Tips: 0.00 INK Postby Gabriel Faile on Mon Oct 09, 2006 6:30 pm

The bell had just rung signaling the end of class as Gabriel Faile had just finished scribbling the words: Assignment on Conflicts, PreSpace Flight Due Tuesday.

Gabriel stopped the scrapping of the chalk and dropped his head smiling. He lowered his hand allowing his powder blue cuff to fall over the most part of his hand.

He kept his head down as he wandered over to his desk and set the little white bar down. His green eyes looked up at the six rows of desks facing him. Each row upon an elevated platform, like a lecture room. These rows each held six desks, home to a student in his High School level Classical Studies C.E. Class.

Standing behind the desk he looked up at his motionless students before dropping both palms down on the flat top. A smile crossed his lips. This class was the best class he had ever had. Obedient, willing and attentive.

He stood up straight and spread his hands out before bringing them together.

"Class dismissed."
Those words signaled an Armageddon of students and papers and zipping noises as they all bustled out the class for their lockers, then most likely home. The grin stuck as he picked up his tawny blazer from the back of his desk chair and slipped it over his shoulders and arms. He reached up and folded the cuffs over the edge of the jacket so it only made it three quarters of the arms.

He picked up his brown pleather messenger bag and slipped a few books and papers inside before throwing it around his shoulder.

Gabriel smiled and waved to everyone on his way out; secretaries, other teachers, students, and even a few giggling girls. The shy man couldn't help but blush as he tossed his hair out of his eyes.

As he pushed his way out of the heavy wooden doors that closed the school the sun drained down into his eyes leaving him temporarily blind, yet smiling. It was a beautiful day. He shoved his hands in his pockets as he smiled the whole walk home.

He got home to his apartment building he dropped his stuff on the kitchen table, including his blazer and pulled out a few pans.

He made himself Alfredo linguine with mushrooms and tofu before sitting down to a long night of marking.

Kathy finished her laps in the about the normal time. The kids and the elderly women that was watching them had gone, the only other person there was a man sitting on a bean by the track, and he looked like he was drained. Kathy considered the situation for a few seconds then made up her mind. She did another lap, jogging this time, and stopped at the bench the man was sitting on. She unstraped the water bottle that was around her hip and took a long drink, draining about half of it.

"You seem to have been doing more running than I have."

Kathy looked over at him, he seemed even more tired up close than her did from across the track.

"Care for a drink?"

Kathy extended the water bottle out to him.

Tadakastu got home to his apartment building, the same one that Gabriel Faile lived in, about the same time that Gabriel did. Tadakastu had talked to him a few times about random things, nothing serious, just idle chit chat as their went up the stairs, or got their mail. Tadakastu wouldn't exactly call him a friend, but Tadakastu thought that they would get along fine if they talked more. Tadakastu gave Gabriel a quick wave as he entered his own room. Tadakastu went directly to the fridge; he hadn't eaten anything since before the raid where he has lost two of him men. He considered getting a drink, but thought better of it. He had seen too many people try to drown their sorrows in alcohol, and he didn't want to end up like them. Tadakastu grabbed a slice of cold pizza and quickly devoured it in only a few bites. After that, he dropped his gun on the table and took a quick shower. All the while the same thought was circling in his mind, 'Should the strong rule, or should the protect the weak.'

Tadakastu quickly dried himself off and wrapped the towel around his waist. He plopped down in front of the T.V. to see what was on. As usual, there was almost nothing on, the only thing that peaked his interest was a news report on how the brave members of the police force had dealt with a group of criminals. The reporter was saying how the criminals were all killed in the crossfire but none of the police officers were hurt. Tadakastu threw the remote at the T.V. and it bounced off with a loud thunk.

"Of course none of the police officers were hurt. They weren't even there until after it was all over. I lost two damn good men though! And they'll never have the funerals they deserve!"

It was at that moment of anger and rage that Tadakastu decided what he had to do. The weak needed protection, but if the strong had the power, they could keep a deadlock on peace, there by protecting the weak.

The russian officer looked up. He brushed his hair backwards and sighed slightly. "Thanks, I appreciate it." He took the bottle and nodded. He normally would never trust a stranger, right now, he was having a more difficult time trying to find a source of survival.

Dennis drained about half the water bottle, he wiped his mouth roughly and coughed. In the typical soldier's behaviour. He knew what was the main idea to survive, he looked around.

"I'm grateful to you." He commented to the girl, "Do you know where I am?" He asked sheepishly, knowing it was a rather stupid question.

Kathy gave the man a confused look. That wasn't a normal question around here. Most of the people that were on the Gemini were stationed there. She was about to say something when she remembered that there was a group stopping here on the way back to Earth from Mars, he must be with them.

"Sure, you're on the Gemini, one of the seven battle stations surrounding Earth and Mars. It's odd that they didn't tell you where you were stopping on your way back to Earth."

Kathy didn't explain anything beyond that. Everyone knew about the defensive platforms. There were plans for building a pair of platforms for the Jupiter colonies, but they declared their independence from Earth and Mars before the plans were finished.

"Well, I'm going back on duty in about an hour. It was nice meeting you."

Kathy stood up and began to walk away but stopped after about three steppes.

"I'm sorry, I don't usually do this, but my next shift is only five hours. Would you.....like to grab a bit to eat or something when I'm done?"

"Yeah, I would be grateful for that." The russian officer reached into his pocket and drew the radio once more, he hit the transmission and entered the code for the Russian Military Head Quarters.

"Captain Ritchoven?"
"I'm on Gemini."
"Thats bad. We can't get there in time."
"What the HELL are they doing there?"
"Apparently, the stations, one of them you're standing on right now, are working on a project."
"What in hell's name for?"
"Hostile Actions and strange building projects are going on in the Jupiter Colonies."
"They think they're going to rebuild the Mobile Suits?!"
"Yes, sir. And a high possibility."

The officer glanced at the girl near him. And gave a slight cough, "Excuse me for a minute." He walked to a corner, "Tell me what they're doing in Moscow."
The voice crackled, "Working on a massive resource project, defensive measures are being rebuilt, only on Moscow, Sydney, and.." Dennis sighed. "In other words, all the capitals, but not lesser structures."

"Correct ,sir."
"Thats biased!"
"Yes, but we can't do anything. But you CAN do something useful there while you're stuck."
"Talk to me."
"Gemini is on a joint project with Scorpio, these two specific locations have underground facilities working on the codenamed, "RIGEU"."
"And what?"
"We can send a message to Gemni's stations, they'll be glad to have a Protectorate Officer with them. Probably haven't seen one."
"You sure? I don't want hostility. Mars almost imprisoned me."
"Hundred percent clear."
"Send a message then, I'll go shortly But I need to get back."
"I thought you had no food?"
"I have an appointment." He said hastily. The voice on the other side sounded skeptical. "Dating at first sight?", Dennis poked the radio, "No, it was a kindly offer."
"Whatever you say Captain."

The radio reception ended. Dennis turned to the girl. "Like I said, I'd be glad to." The russian officer did somethin rare, he smiled, briefly. "When your shift ends, you'll find me at the Gemini Underground Operations Facilities." He told her. Then he walked off, well, what the heck could they be doing.

Kathy walked off after the man was done with his conversation on the radio. She didn't hear everything, but she thought she overheard something about Mobile Suits. She shrugged it off; there were no Mobile Suits any more. She jogged back to her quarters and quickly changed back into her uniform. She didn't have much to do, that's why her shift was so short, and it was primarily that she had to wait there until the next person came on duty. Kathy sighed as she got back to the bridge, usually she didn't mind that she had one of these shift, because usually she didn't have something to do after this shift.

The shift went slow, as usual. There was nothing wrong with Gemini nor anything else as far as her duties were concerned. Once her shift was over, Kathy quickly left and headed down to the Gemini Underground Operations Facilities, where the man said he'd be. She didn't even bother changing out of her uniform. It never occurred to her that this man didn't know that she was second in command of the Gemini. Kathy was surprised; she didn't actually think that he would be there. Kathy went up to him quickly, trying not to act as though she'd been looking forward to this since she left him at the track.

"Hi. I'm glad you here. I kind of ran off without giving you my name. Sorry about that, I'm Kathy Takashiru."

The man turned his head. "Kathy is it? I'm Dennis Von Ritchoven." After his rather short introduction, he nodded to her. "Excuse me, wait here for a bit. I need to settle something and I'll be right back." The russian officer quickly walked towards the engineer. "You're telling me," Dennis started, in an attempt to be calm. "That we're again building these, banned, illegal, infernal machines of blind destruction?" The engineer sighed, "Come now Captain, they're no-" Dennis shrugged. "Thats what they're good for. Thats the only thing they do."

The engineer nodded. "Well, yes. But we do have a good reason." Dennis looked skeptical. "Reasons." The engineer nodded quickly. "Yes, agents in Jupiter could not find the missing delegates, but did pick up highly restricted military information." Dennis nodded slowly, "What?" The engineer continued sadly. "The JAF seems to be having a massive resource gathering, it's not trade, they don't need this much for trade. I'm afraid they've gotten hold of the information of MS."

Dennis almost roared, then he silenced himself. "What?!" He exclaimed. The engineer looked at his expression. "Yeah, they're building them again. And they have well over a hundred." Dennis frowned. He now knew why Earth was once again modelling this foul machines. "And, our defenses?" The engineer shook his head.
"What defenses would stand against those new models?"
Dennis was silent. Mobile Suits played a major part in many wars.
"What does this place plan to do?"
"Strict orders Captain. They're rapidly building MS, but with limit technologies and resources now, our attempt to build MS that can actually surpass the Jupiter Prototypes is very bleak. We accomplished it, but odds are low."

Dennis shook his head. This was serious. "How many of those- things, are there?" The engineer pointed to a scientist who walked forward. "Our technologies instituitions have granted us 28 MS Types, 25 are similair types, like the old Zaku. Three are special prototype models with specific abilities and on top secret areas for construction process."

Dennis stared at the ground, the russian officer was oddly silent. "And I'm here because?"
The scientist and engineer looked at each other. "The specific models were planted in respectively Gemini, Scorpio, and the Moon Base. The twenty five others were built in important strategic capitals of Moscow, Sydney, Beijing, New York, and Tokyo. One of the models are here."
Dennis couldn't speak for a moment. "Fine. But we only use them when we're sure we're being attacked?" The scientist nodded.
"And my role in this is?" The scientist hesiatated. The engineer spoke up, "Twenty Eight skilled agents were selected, with no major roles, but talented. They will be trained in piloting these Gundam types. You...have been selected."

The russian officer scowled. "Which one?" The scientist shook his head. "Not the one here. It's for...that young lady out there." Dennis looked surprised. "Kathy?" The scientist nodded. "Kathy Takashiru, second in command of Gemini." The officer shook his head, "Good lord." The engineer took after this, "Two people here will be sent if they are willing to Earth facilities to pilot other suits. Surprisingly, one is a teacher. One, is a military, a police agent."

The scientist handed Dennis a piece of paper. The names of all the chosen pilots were on it, and their locations. Dennis hid it in his pocket. "And why do I know beforehand?" The staff gathered in front of him. "You will be trained here. Even though your suit's not ready. In fact, none of them are ready. But here's a picture."
Dennis stared at the picture, it showed a large model of some strange robot that resembled the Freedom, the famed model.
The name , "IGX-03-M. Angel" was printed on the front. "What the heck?" Dennis murmered. The specific information was written already. He stuffed that into his pocket as well.
"Starting today, you will be trained, and after training, sent to the Moon Base to see your...partner." The man shook his head. "Great." He coughed. "What of Mars? Jupiter will likely strike them first.", The engineer shook his head. "Whatever they do is not in our jurdistiction, but we will assist them. The mobile suits will be complete in a week or so. If all goes well."
Dennis took a stride toward a board with pictures. There was a basic model called "Clone" on the wall. "This is the one protecting the capitals?" The scientist nodded.
Dennis got an idea. "Can I see the prototype for Kathy? I want to know what one looks like." He was unable to hide his excitement anymore.

The scientist took Dennis to a huge hangar, a half completed Gundam was there. The cockpit, head, eye levels, strategy memory cards, limb construction, mostly everything was not complete. But it was still a sight to behold.
"Excuse me, We'll start tommorow, if thats okay with you." The scientist nodded. "Safe trip."
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dennis walked towards Kathy. He looked worried, but he hid it with his usual cool composure.
"Well, where do you suggest I go?" The officer asked, looking around the queer place to him.

Tips: 0.00 INK Postby SSJHunterKiller on Tue Oct 10, 2006 1:09 pm

Night had fallen on Earth, and Seto was the only one still awake in his house. Faye was passed out on the couch. She had made the drinks a little too strong and after three she was out. Seto had gotten a nice buzz from the drinks, but he was used to drinking more than Faye. The buzz had passed about an hour ago, and for the time being, Seto was standing out on the balcony, looking up into the sky. It was crisp clear night, the full moon shown bright in the sky, surrounded by thousands of stars. Seto smiled as he saw one of the defensive battle stations. He couldn't tell which one it was, but they were discernable from the stars because they appeared in the sky as a brilliant red as opposed to the bright white of a star. Seto closed his eyes as a gently breeze hit him in the face. When Seto opened his eyes his visions was blurred again. This didn't make any sense to him; he should be completely sober again by now. He must be sick, that was all that he could think of. Suddenly a horrible thought hit him. No, that was supposed to be under control. Seto's head suddenly began pounding and he grabbed the sides of his head, falling to his knees. Seto began to violently shake his head and he let out a groan, followed by a loud yell, then silence, as if the world around him had just stopped, there were no sounds of traffic, just silence. With an extremely shaky hand, Seto reached into his pocket and pulled out a small vile of orange liquid. Very carefully he popped off the top and dumped the liquid into his mouth, swallowing it all at once. Seto coughed violently and used a hand to cover his mouth to prevent the stuff from coming back up. Seto sat on his knees for about five minuets before he stood up again. That medicine tasted terrible, but it got the job done. Seto had hopped that he would never need that again, but it looked like there was something that was brining him out once again. And since that was the case, Seto needed to get to Mars. Seto darted back to the bedroom and threw a few changes of cloths into an overnight bag and hurried out of the house, calling the space station on the way out, telling them to prep his shuttle to go to Mars. He'd call Faye sometime tomorrow to let her know that he had to run off to an emergency meeting. Seto hated lying to Faye, but in this case, it was better than she not know the truth.

"Well there are plenty of good restaurants on the Gemini. We've got anything that anyone could possible want. Come on, I'll show you."

Kathy turned and headed towards the restaurant district. It was a bit of a walk from where there currently were. Kathy didn't say anything on the way there, she really didn't know what to say, this had all happened on a sudden impulse of hers, a trait that she thought that she had overcome. Once there were there, Kathy chose her favorite restaurant, a place called the Rainbow Room, that mostly served recipes from before the After Colony time period had started.

Seto was at the shuttle station in only twenty minuets, even though it was normally an hour drive, he considered this an emergency and had no problem paying any ticket should he get pulled over. As requested, the shuttle was waiting for him and ready to launch. Seto left his car by the shuttle, he figuered someone would take care of it, or it would get stole, either way he didn't care right now, what mattered most was getting to Mars and the EMDA station with the doctor that had made the medicine for him in the first place. Once the shuttle had passed through the atmosphere Seto sent a message via video link back home to Faye and Jeeves.

"Sorry to run out on you guys like I did, but there was an emergency meeting of the ESUN board of delegates and they said my presence was required. I'll be back home within the week. Again, I'm sorry Faye, and I love you.'

Seto closed the video link and sat back, preparing himself for the ride to Mars.

The offier nodded, still in military uniform and walked along with the girl. Once they neared the destination, Dennis raised an eyebrow, then he commented. "This is a nice place. Now I'm wondering what kind of foodstuff they serve to attract you."
Dennis's eyes flickered toward Kathy. This was oddly friendly for anyone, still, he wasn't going to be ungrateful.

"They deal in just about everything. Any type of food you can imagine, they serve it. I like it for their specialty; they serve food from before the After Colony time line."

Kathy has a quick chat with the Matride(sp?) and the pair was escorted to a table in the back.

"So what exactly brings you to the Gemini? Not many people just pass through. Most of the people that are here are military personal and live here most of the time."
