"Lisael be damned, Asterius," barked the grey-haired elf, stamping his staff down onto the rocky ground. "I don't care how many times you've seen it happen in plays, you do NOT close your eyes when you're trying to incant. How many times have I told you?"

Asterius rolled his eyes. "I don't know, Asmodean, a thousand?" When he turned twenty-three, most of the elder elves of Laenyen had assumed that Asterius' sarcastic manner would die as he matured. He was twenty-seven now, and it was as strong as ever. Asmodean sighed, part in annoyance, part in exhaustion - the trek up to the Lonely Mountains was a tough one, particularly for an elf of Asmodean's age.

"Asterius, listen to me for a moment. For Lisael's sake, you have the most raw talent of any elf I've ever met; even your father didn't have as much potential as you do! But you've got to apply yourself, there's no point sitting on your laurels!"

As Asmodean continued with his spiel, Asterius cracked the knuckles on his left hand. Silently, dark clouds began to gather overhead, completely unnoticed by the elder elf. A light rain began to patter down, and Asterius looked up to the sky in mild confusion; why was it so light? He'd meant to bring down a real storm.

"No, you're not bringing a storm to the Mountains Asterius," said Asmodean, his tone never changed. If you looked close, you could detect a faint bluish aura surrounding his staff, but it was flickering and dim. "The last time you did something like this you flooded half the city."

A bolt of lightning lanced down from the skies, striking Asmodean's staff head on. Asmodean dropped it in shock, and stepped back, a mixture of anger and curiosity in his eyes.

"You...you broke my containment spell?"

Asterius smiled, cocking his head to one side.

"...what else can you do?"

Demimgrem felt the energy of the others nearing, "Hmn, I feel like i'm not the only elf in this. Demigrem lifted his right palm into the air, turning it as a hurricane appeared around the other elfs, breaking the elder's energy as dark shadows poured from the clouds with a slight increase of gravity. "I'm not making it easy on them to get here." Demigrem laughed a bit as raised his black hood over his head as shadows covored his face, making him look like a dark being.

"There's someone else here."

Asterius looked up to the sky in mild annoyance. "Of course there are other people here, Asmodean, I was challenged. Remember?"

"No, you fool. I mean there's someone else right here, now. Why did you think I was putting all my efforts into this container?"

"Fun?"

Asmodean's left eye twitched; whether it was from the effort keeping the hurricane centred around them or from anger wasn't clear. "No, not fun. I'm keeping us in the eye of this storm to stop it hurling us from the mountain, and I'd appreciate some help here."

"Why didn't you say then? Hurricanes are air, this is my house." Throwing back his hood, Asterius extended his arm, palm out; Asmodean felt the pressure the hurricane was putting on him lighten significantly, and he straightened up.

"We're certainly close. Are you ready to fight?"

Asterius laughed derisively. "I'm always ready to fight, Asmodean, you know that."

"Once you start this fight, remember, I can't help you."

"I know, I know. Lis, you sound like my father."

"Maybe that's not a bad thing, your father is the High Priest of Laenyen for a reason."

Asterius wasn't listening, but unlike usual, it was for a reason. Looming out of the shadow of Death's Peak was something he swore had never been there before - an entrance. An entrance to what, he didn't know, but it looked very much like the path lead into the mountain itself.

"Give me some light, Asmodean, we're going in."

Striding confidently through the entrance, Asterius blinked rapidly, trying to get his eyes to see better in the sudden darkness.

"Asmodean?"

Asterius turned around, looking for his tutor. What he found was the solid rock wall of the mountain; the entrance had disappeared.

Holy Lis, someone really wants me to fight. Fat lot of good air magic'll do inside a mountain, there's barely enough air in here to get a decent...

"Hold on a moment, I'm still breathing."

There must be a source of air somewhere, that's perfect. I can just keep sucking air into the mountain whenever I need it.

Asterius walked on, readying his powers of electricity already. Outside, Asmodean kept stoking the storm Asterius had created higher and higher; the older elf was smart enough to know that if the levels of electricity in the air were high enough, his protege could and would use that with reckless abandon. It was the least Asmodean could do to help his student, and he hated being unable to help further.

Inside the mountain, Asterius had problems of his own. The short path had lead to a large opening - it looked like it was as dark and deserted as the rest of the place, but as he stepped inside, the torches in the brackets attached to the circular walls ignited. Taking his machete-like blade from it's sheath, he stepped forward gingerly, the torches continuing to light. They formed almost an entire circle, except for one - the torch directly in front of him failed to light, the shadows surrounding the elf standing beneath it eating up the light and keeping him in darkness.

Sending a light charge of electricity into his blade, it crackled with static. "Who are you?"

Demigrem's shadowy face looked over at the other elf, the shadows striking out like the face of the devil, a piercing and evil face. "I am Demigrem, the host of this tournament.I need you to state your elements, and bio. And I will place you where you are most suited to fight." Demigrem then turned his head back to normal, looking straight into the sky as he waited for more challengers to arrive.

Elements? Bio? Who does the hell...

"...do you think you're going on about?"

Wait, did I say that out loud?

Demigrem cocked his head questioningly, and Asterius mentally slapped himself. Raising the machete, he sent a series of electric pulses into the blade, making it glow a bright blue and crackle with static. At the same time, he snapped his fingers, triggering a miniature hurricane from what little excess air there was in the arena. It was showy, but given the way Demigrem had appeared, it seemed showmanship was the name of the game.

"I am Asterius Leralonde, of the city of Laenyen. And if you can't tell what elements I represent, there must be something seriously wrong with you. Now you and I can square off right here, or I can go through whichever cronies of yours you want to throw at me first and then I'll kick your ass. It's up to you, either way I'm fighting."

Demigrem shook his head a bit as a sigh escaped his lips. "You have already lost this match." Demigrem pointed at the shadow that the other posted on the ground, "Asterius, your shadow." As Demigrem pointed, Asterius did the same. "Now do you wish to continue? You cannot move, it would be futile. Not even the elven leaders in the Royal City can defeat my elemental mastership of shadows." Soon after, Gravity began to increase on Asterius. Demigrem laughed a bit at this. "Now, go place your bio and such and wait patiently." Demigrem sat there waiting for an answer.

Redmoon Versus GWing

Tips: 0.00 INK Postby Sousuke`Sekimoto on Fri Feb 02, 2007 12:04 pm

I see a tournament in the making here. How about an actual challenge? Two of Redmoon's fighters would like to take on as many of GWing as possible. In an all out, live Turnbase fight. It would take place on the java chat. A date and time haven't been set yet...so how would you guys like to take on two members, one being myself, two members that specialize in roleplay fighting? Repost here or contact me on Sousuke`Sekimoto on the GWing java chat.

[Turn-based? Turn-based isn't like the stuff above, is it? No, it isn't, damn. I'd be happy to face you in a freeform battle, a post-limit thing, but I can't do java rping, really.

Also, Swat, are you serious? That's far too close to godmodding for my liking; you couldn't think a way around the situation, so you control me in a way that doesn't allow me to counter at all. Let me explain this - my character has been challenged to a tournament he knows nothing about, something I've made quite clear. Equally, I've made quite clear the two things you asked for - the name, and the elements. It stands to reason that he would be about to fight, and locking me in place is not the way to solve this. Like I say, it's too close to godmodding.]

[Then explain it in-character, it's not hard. I'd be happy to tag with you if you'd explain how this turn-based thing works.]

{Tb works like this. YOu make an attack, give detail and such. And once that, you would state the damage of this attack if it connected and how much power was put into it. Then when you finish an attack you say,"Done" And your opponent would make an evasion or such.)

[As we ascertained, though, it'd make less sense to do it in Java when we could, theoretically, do it here. As long as we were all on the same time, it'd be like a Java chat, but give the capacity for longer posts. Also, do me a lemon and fix Asterius up with someone to fight, even if it's just a shadow demon or something.]

Hmn, someone to spar? No problem..))

Demigrem looked over at Asterius and smirked a bit. He began to chant a bit as he moved his form. His body began to turn into shadows, soon to an illusion. A tearing sound would be heard as a second figure would be seen doing the same thing. Demigrem then stopped moving as his body became whole. There was now two Demigrem's, one real, the other a fake meant just for sparring. Demigrem then looked at his clone and pointed his right index finger at Asterius. The clone took off after asterius in a second.

As the original Demigrem blinked away, the clone charged towards Asterius, who was still constricted by the last lingering forces of the gravity he'd been put under. The clone drew a vicious-looking sword from behind him somewhere without breaking his stride, and the overhead slash came tearing down - Asterius rolled to the right, but his limbs were still heavy and the sword caught him on his left leg, gashing it open and spilling blood onto his pale blue robes. The clone turned, raising his sword again, and Asterius picked up his Mahai; when he'd fallen, the blade had squirmed out of his grasp. The clang of metal upon metal as he blocked the clone's swing confused him for a precious moment, simply because the smoky black form looked just that - like smoke.

Still, the pulse of blood from his leg sent him a fairly clear message that this thing was real and dangerous. Whether it had the powers over the shadows that the real Demigrem, Asterius didn't know nor was particularly willing to find out. Dodging a second slash, the elven mage thrust with the Mahai with his mind running on instinct; it didn't look like the clone was magical, and so he started to bring more and more air in from outside the mountain. Slowly, since this was a spell he wasn't particularly adept at, he sent the air into a spin, something that should put a lot of pulling force into the centre of the room.

[I'm not sure whether you intended to fight as the clone or not, but if it's the former, here's a decent place for you to intervene.]
