Fall Fighters

When the bomb went off on the planet Jhar’katash, in a realm not that of humans, a change happened. There was a sundering of the line between our realm and theirs. There were beings on Jhar’katash that would see the human race utterly destroyed, not because they dislike us but instead because of their malicious nature. When the bomb went off in their galaxy, it was the equivalent of a thousand supernovas. It immolated all life except for that at the edge of the universe. The ones that survived were changed however; crueler and more terrible in nature. Worlds were annihilated in the blast, and the radiation that spawned from the bomb was like a plague. The once human-like race that inhabited that realm began to change. Their skin turned to dusty grey, they became taller and lither, and they grew faster and stronger.

After hundreds of years the fires of what had been slowly grew, like a giant roiling ball of flame and destruction. But the technology they possessed slowly evolved, until they were ready to explore this giant inferno. They ventured in, and found at the center something like a black hole; a yawning vortex spanning sextillions of solar units in all directions. Its size was beyond comprehension, and it glowed red with the fury of a dying universe. They sent a probe first, and when it reached the vortex it disappeared, and all contact was lost.

Though the probe itself was not lost. No, instead it emerged into our realm, charred and broken, the portal behind it flaring with a fire and intensity unseen by any human before. The ones of the other universe gave up for a while after that. Of course, when the probe came through to our realm, our human civilization was young still, only beginning to form. It was the time of the Roman Empire, and when the lone farmer saw that wide, gaping gateway into a fiery oblivion, he spread the word. Soon the word of hell spread. People became fearful of this revelation.

Then, in our year 2087, the ones of the other galaxy tried again, this time with live people. Of course their galaxy was still afire, finding a limitless supply of fuel for the inferno. They reached our realm, and from here, it was discovered that others had visited. As the myth of what we call vampires. Long canines would often rip into flesh and claws would gouge as they defended themselves. Of course, now, they come with an army of better, faster, stronger, and more well-equipped beings, seeing a universe ripe for their taking. The armies of Earth are in disarray, with no sense of command. A resistance force has risen to stand in the aliens’ way, and they are all that hold back what is known as the Melak wave back. They are known as the Fall-Fighters.

[OOC] Alright, this RP is based in our modern world. If you would like to join just jump right in. You can be a Melak/Vampire thing or human. *NOTE* This RP was thought up by Zaine, and all credit should go to him; I just articulated his thoughts. */NOTE*
"Some things are important. Others are not. Yet all would claim a mortal's attention. It falls to each of us to remain ever mindful, and thus purchase wisdom in the threading of possibilities. It is our common failing that we are guided by our indifference to eventualities. The moment pleases, the future can await consideration." - Steven Erikson's Midnight Tides

He ran through the halls, coming to the end of the hall he glanced both ways. He backed against the wall gasping for air; he wiped some sweat from his brow. He dropped his dispensed clip and slid in a new one. Hearing noise down the hall he peaked over, he could see another one of his comrades running down the hall. “Eric!” he said “Around here.” The man came around the corner, pinning himself up against the other side of the hall. The man was a big guy, well built; he was carrying a heavy machine gun. He looked at Eric and nodded to him, the big man quietly made his way into the middle of the hall, sliding to his belly he set up his machine gun, ready to fire at anyone. “Frank” whispered the man still glancing down the hall, gripping his heavy machine gun “I here something Frank” Frank glanced down the hall listening intently for any sounds, crashing through the ceiling, it landed on top of Eric and its fangs sunk into Eric’s neck. Screams filled the hall, letting out a battle shout Frank unloaded his clip into the beast. The beast looked up at him blood drenching his face his fangs could be seen in the dim light of the hall. It crouched back down grabbing the dead body of Eric and crashed through the wall to its right.

Frank checked his gun, switched off the safety, then moved forward to the hole. Looking through it he could see no sign of the creature; he turned and saw the blood smears all over the wall. He stopped listening once again for anything that could indicate the creatures approach, listening closely he herd some moans from down the hall.

“Shit” he muttered to himself, and took off down the hall leaving the area in which he heard the moans. Pushing on his ear piece, he spoke “Come in, this is the remainder of Delta, need immediate evac!” He let go of the button only to hear static. He swore again and made for the exit stairwell of the building. As he entered the room, he stopped and went completely silent; he cautiously began to ascend the stairs. He descended two flights of stairs when the wall beside him exploded. He was tossed in the air to hit the fly over the stair rail and down a flight. He felt something crack, but he rolled onto his back anyway. As they ran down the stairs he lifted his gun, the automatic fire ripping through them. He reached down to his waist and felt it close around something round and hard. He pulled the pin then tossed it, sending it landing right in the middle of them. He rolled forward onto his feet and stood, and noticed the stairs to the roof were destroyed by the blast.

He moved down then, taking the stairs four at a time. He reached the bottom floor, and made to open the door. But it had broken, and he took a step back. He launched himself forward, foot ramming the door outwards. He reached the exit, running to the middle of the streets he looked up for signs of the helicopter. There were none, looking back to where he had come from, he could see the Melak swarming through the door. He swore under his breath and began unloading into their ranks. He rammed a new clip into his gun, than he backed up towards a door, his back resting against it.

Pushing through the door, came a couple of men, guns blazing, the Melak all turned, but they were full of confusion. But the most amount of fire was coming from the larger amount of men, so they turned and swarmed at the group.
Frank moved out into the middle of the street, looking up he saw the helicopter coming into view, a huge turret ripped into the enemy swarm, and soon were all killed. As the copter, came down for a land he could see a huge smirk on the guy manning the turret. Jumping onto the copter, with the three remaining men, he yelled up too the pilot, “Get us out of here!”

“Roger that.” Then the helicopter was off, flying over the burning city towards Headquarters.
Damn ...

The chaingun buzzed in the back of the helicopter as it cleared the small square of Melak. Mark lowered the helicopter down low to the ground, only about a foot above. Frank and three other men jumped onto the XV-28 Helicopter. Mark pushed up on the throttle, revving the throttle and turning the rotors faster. He pulled back on the joystick and the copter moved upwards, careening into the sky above the city. They moved just over the skyline, which enabled them to look out over the tops of the buildings. The Rift was there, suspended thousands of feet up, looming like a monster, ready to swallow the city. Of course, before the Rift the city had held almost 200 000 000 people, but the void had swallowed almost the entire city, leaving half the downtown in tact. The rest had been annihilated when they first came through in force. They had laid waste to the surrounding cities as well, and it was a miracle the denizens of Cloud City had managed to survive. The Rift blocked out the setting sun, covering it with a bloody stain upon the calm blue backdrop. Even so, once the sun set, it was not like darkness descended; the Rift managed to light the entire city in a luminescent glow.

Come in, come in. This is chopper pilot 449, calling for assistance. We are receiving heavy fire from anti-aircraft weaponry on the ground and are in need of assistance... The transmission had buzzed out over the radio, and Mark looked back. "Looks like we're in for a bit of a detour!" he yelled over the sound of the helicopter engines. Then he pulled sideways on the control stick and dived down to the left. He pulled between two tall skyscrapers, going into their shadows. He pulled down until he was only about ten meters from the street. He looked down at the radar and saw the location of 449. He pulled around a corner and let rip with two 67-ZT rockets, which flew forward with lightning speed. They dove down and crashed into two Melak anti-aircraft guns. The explosions were massive, and Mark pulled up. He took a sharp turn so the gatling gun in the back faced downwards. He hoped that the men in the back had been smart enough to latch themselves on, and knew at least the gunner had, as he heard the steady clatter of the gun as bullets ripped down towards the enemies on the streets.

A warning light flashed on the dash, and the helicopter lurched to the right, which happened to be upwards, as a missile tore into the back, ripping out through the other side; a dud. But it had done enough to flip to copter upside-down. Mark released the handle and grabbed some safety bars around the cockpit as it spiralled towards the ground. The tail hit the a building to one side of the street, and an explosion sounded from behind, and fire ripped through the cockpit, which soon died. The copter flipped again and Mark now had no idea which way was up. They hit the street below and Mark felt as if a flashbang had gone off in his head. A flash of light before his shut eyelids, and then dancing colors. His ears rang, and he couldn't hear over it. He felt as if someone had taken a jackhammer to his skull, and he felt blood drip over his face. He gingerly felt around his chest until he found the snap that had held him in place. He unsnapped it and fell upwards, or what he had thought was up, until he realized the chopper had landed upside down. He opened his eyes and saw the latch for the door. Reaching out to it he snapped it downward, or upward in this case and pushed it open. He crawled out, then paused. He turned around, looked back into the cockpit, and retrieved his automatic rifle. He crawled back out and took position against a large rock. He couldn't see anything through the dust, and a dull roaring had replaced the ringing in his ears. In all aspects, he was blind, but he knew they were coming...
