Name: Sabrina Waveryder
Sex: male
Age: eighteen
Role: Merfolk Prince
Appearance: Sabrina is by nature alluring. Something about his expression, his hungry eyes, his pouting lips, they demand your attention. And while he is this pretty, he is sure to have it. His long and straight hair is snow white, and runs down to the small of his back, the color offsets how silver his eyes are. In place of eyelashes are thicker, feminine ones, they are a natural adaption meant to keep moisture for his eyes and swim better with the flow of the water. They appear to enhance his looks however, and like most mer-people, his looks are slightly sharp and angular, most prominently seen in his eyes. His skin is ivory and his lips are pale, as if he were a drowned person. He is soft looking, but also quite athletic, as one would get from plenty of swimming. As a humanoid male he stands at 5' and 9", as a mer-person he is seven feet long from head to tail. His tail, blue in colour, is lunate shaped, making him a quick swimmer. While in the water, his hands are also webbed, but this webbing dissapears once his hands hit surface. His kanines are also retractable, and the eight top and bottom ones grow long when he goes in to bite. Mer-folk to not have mammary glands while in mer-form, but develope them when their legs develope, that is to say once on dry land, so while in mer-form he has no need of clothing at all, but mer-folk do at times decorated their tail with a silky clothe that is extremely light and thin. Sabrina does not wear anything, but while on surface it is customary to do so in respect to everyone else. He doesn't see why he should be subjected to clothing though, it's a bit stiffling.
Personality: Playful and charming, Sabrina, like most Mermaids, is immediately likeable. He can easily approach someone and start an interesting conversation out of a philosophical question; in fact that is how he hunts. Asking, “Do you know what love is?” and swimming ever so close but just out of reach, he captures the attention of his prey. His serene expression and demeanor fools any race into believing him to be docile and even submissive. When in fact he can be quite cruel to someone he has no interest in, or nice depending on his mood. His clever answers are out of the ordinary and often romantic in nature, almost like a daydreamer, which he won’t deny. His wisdom you’ll find fair and diplomatic, certainly logical. He seems to have an answer for everything, and the things he doesn’t he knows he shouldn’t, and he’ll claim it to be just as simple as that. It is as if he accepts life in it’s entirety, pain and pleasure alike, this is strange considering the pain he has already gone through in his own lifetime, to which he keeps to himself. You can tell just by the look in his sparkling eyes that he sees beauty everywhere, and truly he does.
His gentle movements are graceful and flow like the water he comes from, he makes moving look easy and leisurely. And while he has had to ‘crash course’ the walking lessons he has already gotten the hang of dancing, something quite like swimming actually. Dancing is easier for him that straight out walking is, and in fact it is his balance that has the most trouble, a weakness that is being worked on. In the meantime he spends much time on land lounging now that he knows how to walk. His tutors recite scrolls of information for him to know about the land dwellers while he listens and bakes in the sun comfortably.
Singing, frolicking with Dolphins, chatting up fish, and racing his kin, A Mermaid’s life is one of leisure. Of course it helps to be a Prince, and he is one of the most guarded and protected mer-people in the entire ocean. None of the Mer-folk have any desire to ever be on land, but unfortunately for his father Sabrina does have that desire. He doesn’t wish to
stay there, but he is curious, more so than the population of his tribe at the very least. Mer-folk swim and don’t care about other things besides being happy under water, but Sabrina has always wanted to know more about everything, and has frequently made expeditions to deep cavernous caves, finding many strange things indeed. He is resourceful with what he finds, and shrewd in his use of objects and tools. His collection stays with the cryptic skeleton he has hidden in his own secret cavern.
Whimsical and impulsive, Sabrina will start to sing if he feels like it, and start to dance to the current if the mood strikes him. He becomes elated easily and depressed quickly, he seems to feel emotions to the extreme, and does not know anything in between. He is much more open minded than his kin, as shown from that one incident that broke his heart, but he is still a Mermaid, and will eat a land dweller in a split second if he so chooses.
What is the point of an emotion if it does not engulf you?
What do you think about being able to choose your spouse: Sabrina is not looking forward to this ordeal, and he knows that most likely, since he is the second Prince, he will have to accomidate his husband or wife and live on land, away from the ocean. This thought is almost unbearable, for although he is curious, he is ultimately in love with his home. The ocean is akin to another world when compaired with dry land, and he knows next to nothing about their culture and customs. He is scared to be out of the water indeffinately, and sees little reasoning behind his people cooperating at all. It wasn't as though they were losing or anything. Any entity, no matter the race, was subject to their mercy if they went on water. The mer-folk were on their own side, no one else's, and any sailor on the water was left at a huge disadvantage. So Sabrina is confused why he must be doomed this fate, and will attempt to find the husband or wife with a home near the ocean if he can. Over all he is rather depressed with the situation, however, he is distracted easily and will most likely become emerced in learning about land dwellers once he meets everyone. Shame that he can't eat any of them...*sigh*
Oh yes, and one more thing- There seems to have been a mix-up. Apparently the Mer-folk's message was translated a tad incorrectly. The Angels wrote Prince instead of Princess, and so the Mer-folk have sent a male suitor, when in fact the Angels had intended for a female one. Sabrina is going to be mistaken for a Princess when he arrives at the castle.
History: Sabrina is royalty, but by no means does that mean he could laze about all day, well, in the beginning at least. Plenty is expected of a Prince, and he had to learn to live up to those expectations. First duty, he must be fierce and strong, for what sort of leader is not the first to charge into battle? Second, he must have the skill to hunt, as it would be his duty to take the reign from his mother’s position as the temptress that lures the prey in. Third, he must be able to communicate with his people and be brave enough to face things they fear. Tall order right? Not really. Sabrina grew into his position in life as if he were born for it, in fact he was!
Since that portion is out of the way, another thing must be discussed, his name. Mer-folk must earn their name, and in fact his is unique, as most other mer-people are called Bloodtide or even Sharkfin, their last name is what their sire was called. How did Sabrina become Sabrina Waveryder? Well…
It was the second expedition he led, the first had gone over well, and this one was expected to be perfect. He broke the surface and examined the ship his ‘prey’ walked on, but he failed to notice that he was being examined himself. A young noble boy his own age (15) had spotted him and stared, before calling out to him. He blushed at being caught off guard and allowed him to throw questions at him while he stuttered. Not only was he flustered, but the boy was rather handsome, and he was paying him such compliments! They spoke briefly and he found he did not desire to eat this boy. So in order to save him, he swam back to the group waiting below and told them that the ship was carrying plenty of women and children, of which the mer-people showed mercy towards, though it was never thought so.
Each successive day, Sabrina swam back up to the ship, fallowing it on its course and laughing with the human boy, his new crush; it seemed the feeling was mutual. When the boy asked him what his name was, he stated he did not yet have one, and the boy decided to call him Sabrina, as it was a pretty name in his opinion. Sabrina got his first kiss from him, and they were absolutely smitten with one another.
Until betrayal struck, and Sabrina found himself captured, tangled in a net. His bo had gone and led him on, bringing him closer until letting his ‘mates’ get a hold of his innocence. He was to be quite the prize, or so he was told, and the court would have their fun with him, and eat him afterwards. The boy had no remorse for this, and it seemed he was playing along too.
What the crew did not expect, is that Sabrina’s father knew what he had been doing as of late, and sent a squad after him when he did not return for some time. They sunk the ship and killed everyone on board, his boy drowned, and if tears could be seen under the sea, he would have been a pitiful sight indeed.
Sabrina fought valiantly that day however, and for such a feat, he was granted his name, of which he chose, so it was, so it shall always be.
Extra This is the necklace he took from around the boy's neck. His skeleton is hidden away in an underwater cave, where he visits him and laments.
