Ye, who have passed on in death, now return, to rule over man .
Thou, who hast returned, will forever feast on the minds of men and their bodies likewise
to preserve your selves and subjugate them forever.
Inferi Decretum
The Dead Decree

Seventy five years have passed, since the World was plunged into Anarchy. It all began in 2049 when the first Re-animates appeared. Corpses of the recently deceased rose to overwhelm the living. It was figured that at the Outbreak began on a global scale at the exact same moment, before anyone realized what was going on they were in the hundred. Panic spread as fast as the disease, whatever venom or bacteria or demon inside these corpses was passed on to whoever was bitten, turning them into one of the undead.
In under six months, the world was overrun. Government failed, Armies were slaughtered, new and terrifying creatures rose from the body of the slain. Humanity's existence was in question..but they managed to survive and in the ensuing years, adapted to their new world. Anarchy is the Law, Survival is the only true religion. Man overstepped the boundaries that their minds had set on their bodies and they found that they were strong..they could fight..they could win.
The World
This roleplay takes place in the continental US, mostly along the Eastern Coast. News of the outside world is very rare, as travel across the ocean in plane or ship is extremely difficult. Telephones and intercomputer communication are all but non existent, located in only a few places in the continent and none of it is overseas. Money is useless now, but men often trade goods and services in payment.
Settlements dot the landscape, huge fortresses erected from the remains of the once vast cities. Some, indeed, do resemble the old cities, but on a much smaller scale, made from whatever material can be scrounged.
Though, only one city is worth noting at this time.
New Chicago= A huge city of several hundred thousand, perhaps the largest city in the continental United States and home to the newly reformed United States Government. Surrounded by fourty foot high walls with machine gun emplacements and massive iron gates, this city is all but impervious to both undead and bandit attack. The ten miles surrounding the city are kept clear of undead for the most part by heavily armed parties and helicopter snipers. Located twenty miles from the coast
Character types
There are several classes available for players to choose from. You may only choose one class per character, unless you choose a Settler class, but more on that later. The first three classes are unavailable for play, only myself and the Co-GM are allowed to play these character types.
Allegiances
In this world there is several different social classes, but there are only three different allegiances that your character can follow.
-Government- The government is promised to bring about justice, it is an organization of powerful leaders from all the main reborn cities.
“The code is that everyman is created equal.. so with that in mind every man deserves just as much as every other man. If one man has more than the other that is a violation of the true morality of the world. Every man is owed their cut of food, income, and housing just because they are a living breathing man. Anyone that thinks otherwise is just selfish.”
-Revolutionaries- Is made up of the working man, the merchant and those that believe that humans are entitled to what they earn.
”What right do they have to take what we have earned and give it away? What right do they have to take what we have worked hard to get? If a man is drunk and laying on the side of the street that is his choice! Why should I starve to feed him? Besides the fact the damn government takes their cut before anyone else gets it anyway!”
-Neutral party- This group is made up of people that do not care about the situations in the cities, in fact their only goal is to survive.
”What? Why the hell would I give a damn about some idiotic political bull? Get out of my face! I have better things to do with my time.. like find something to eat.. Hey.. is that salted pork?”
Social Classes
The first three classes are not playable classes Neon and Neava will be playing them to keep the story flowing. These three are clearly marked non-playable.
-Drifter/Refugee-(Non-playable} These are the scourge of the desert, forest, and outlying lands. The Drifter’s/Refugee’s live off the hands outs of the government and whatever they can steal or kill to take from others. Often times this group is full of homicidal maniacs as well as just insane individuals in general.
-Government Leaders-(Non-playable) These are the high up individuals that live off of the taxes they pull from those living inside their protected walls. They are the judge, jury, and executioners. They deem themselves the moral majority taking care of the less fortunate by over taxing those that earn an income, or course keeping a small portion for themselves.
-Scientists-(Non-playable) Scientists are those of legend.. they are the ones that people seek out for miracle cures to the disease as well as genetic upgrades. Stories of people being meshed with the genetic makeup of the zombies that rove the lands have been told for generations since the fall into chaos. For the most part most people have left such tales in the realm of fairy tales.
-Nomadic/Survivalist- These individuals will do about anything to survive.. though they do have enough morality to stay above the classification of Drifters or Refugees. They will not steal to survive, but they will take something off a corpse if it gives them an edge. Nomads tend to have a hatred for large groups of people, because they learned at an early age the larger the group of people the more zombies it attracts. They tend to constantly be on the move, gathering supplies from various jump points they have set up in zombie infested areas. Because of their close contact with zombies they tend to have an affinity for long range weaponry, as well as keen senses, and an intuitive nature. Nomads are notoriously suspicious, jack of all trades masters of none, as well as short lives. The average nomad only makes it to the age of 40.
-Sell Swords- The sell swords as people call them tend to be cut throat and devoid of morality. Often they are heard saying something along the lines of, “Yes I know what morals are.. no I don’t have any.. I can’t afford them!” They are hired by the Merchants and Government alike in order to retrieve stolen goods, hunt down wanted fugitives, and guard the cities. Sell Swords are skilled with various types of weapons and combat. They are often only as good as they are paid however, because training, and supplies take money.. Often times Sell Swords will apprentice under better known Sell Swords in order to gain fame and a healthy income. Very few work in groups larger than five however, unless they are employed by the government.
-Government Sell Swords- These sell Swords are rare, but they do exist. They are riggers, healers, marksman, and blood assassin’s that have been hired and trained by the government. Now unlike settlers they have not been trained from a very young age. But because of the rigorous training these individuals are able to take a secondary Sub class. The secondary sub class is not as high a level of skill as their primary however.. and so when it is played as a secondary set it means that they will have to down play their skill in the second. The other drawback and limitations to the Government sell swords is the fact that they are limited to movements with settlers, as well as they are also held to the same standard as a settler. They are devoted to the government’s cause.. any that are enlisted into this group are brain washed and programmed through intense torture, and trials to become extremely faithful. If one of the Government sell swords steps outside the limits of their orders and/or objectives their other companions will kill them. (This means.. your character will be shot on site if they are a government sell sword and step outside the objectives the government has placed on them.)
-Merchants- These are the people that travel from one city to the other trading goods in order to earn a profit. Each Merchant normally specializes in a specific item or type of items relying on their own creations to make a living or on the creations of others. Some Merchants are nomadic in nature, and some have permanent shops in the densely populated cities. Merchants are often times too focused on their trade to specialize in any type of fighting style or weaponry, though a very small minority are actually quite skilled in a single weapon of choice.
-Settlers- These are the best and brightest the government has to offer. These people are trained especially for the task of clearing out undead, and building up a new city, mining colony, and or trading post. The government trains these individuals from a very young age to be compliant to orders and put them through rigorous and dangerous testing, because of this testing and training Settlers are the only Social group that can take two separate Sub classes at once. HOWEVER! There are drawbacks to settlers. They are brainwashed and preprogrammed to follow the governments issued orders to a T.. if anyone of them deviate or try top rebel against this programming the other members of the settling colony will kill the rebel without a second thought. A group will survive.. without a cohesive group they will all die.. so a weak link is destroyed as soon as it is noticed. (This means.. if you move against the government as a settler your character will be killed by his/her companions.)
Sub Classes
-Blood Assasins- Those skilled in close combat are referred to as Blood Assassins for many reasons. They are skilled with hand to hand or melee weapons. Because of these preference and skill they are adept at stealth as well as posses an uncanny speed with their weapons and their bodies. The name originated from the fact that these type of fighters end most battles bathed in the blood of their enemies, and they kill with an efficiency of an assassin. There are three classifications within this title, -Ninja-, -Blood dancer-, -Blood drinker-. Ninja’s are fast, agile, perfect at stealth, and never noticed. Blood Dancers are quick, agile, but tend to rely on brute force tactics. Blood Drinkers are quick, strong, and use more brute strength and up front tactics in order to meet their ends. { Note= All of these traits are merely aspects of the class overall, you do not have to pick one.}
-Marksman- These are the people that name their fire arms, they worship their pistols, rifles, machine guns, and grenade launchers as if they were their lovers and gods. These people are amazingly adept with their firearms. They know how to make ammo, gun powder, and explosives, and if they don’t know how to make them they are very good at acquiring what they need through thievery or purchase. These individuals make shooting their hobby and passion outside of the everyday routine. They prefer to kill at a distance rather then up close and personally. Understandably Nomads and Drifters tend towards Marksman.
-Riggers- You want to get some place fast? Hire a rigger.. these people worship the vehicles they drive, they use their bikes, trucks, and cars like a Marksman uses his rifle. They know how to refine fuel, build an engine and how to get the most horse power out of their baby. Riggers can make about anything run with a little bit of time and the right supplies. Needless to say riggers are in high demand from all Social classes, though more Drifters and Nomads are known to be expert riggers. Some nomads even hire themselves out to city dwellers in order to get a little extra income, but have an excuse to stay as far away from civilization as possible... There are two classifications of riggers they are Tank riggers, and light riggers. Tank riggers specialize in slow moving unstoppable machines. They prefer slow and steady to fast and light. Light riggers specialize in dune buggies, motor cycles, and off road racers. These riggers are into high horse power light metals and good gas mileage.
-Docs/Healers- These individuals range from scientific practitioners like doctors to medicine men, and spiritual guides. These individuals are expert healers, able to stitch wounds leaving only the smallest of scars, able to stop infections with herbs and or medications. The one thing they cannot stop is the infection of a man or woman by a zombie. If caught immediately they can sometimes save the individual by amputation, but bites, scratches, or direct blood to blood contact can kill the one exposed within 5 minutes of exposure. The Zombie virus is something that the healers are in a constant war to cure. They are constantly seeking out humans that might be immune, though until then they continue treating those they can.
Alpha's
Alpha's are the most skillful and experienced type in their given class. They are so experienced that they often can take others of the same class under their wing and teach them tricks and techniques that they otherwise would take them years { if they lasted that long} to find them out themselves. It is very unwise for someone other then another Alpha to challenge one. { Note= To begin with, only Myself and the Co-gm will have Alpha class characters. The others will sprout from them.}
Zombie types
{This list is likely to be updated.}
Shuffler=The weakest type of undead, basically a Scrounger that has degraded to the point to where it can only shuffle towards it's prey with arm outstretched. While it's grip is still strong, it can be pushed out of the way and bypassed easily.
Beast="Huge,hulking behemoths that gallop at very high speeds across open areas, easily weighing in at over a ton of muscle, these creatures can overturn even the heaviest vehicles. Though generally incapable of biting, they can easily reduce humans to sludge with a single blow.
Glider= "A species of undead that has evolved a large sheet of skin that connects their wrists and ankles togehter and allows them to glide on currents of wind. Generally, their sense of sight is greater then a human. They attack using their overly developed tongues to ensnare prey, though they can only feed properly in numbers of three or more as they need to use their tongue to pull apart their prey and swallow the peices whole.
Nightcrawler= A particularly dangerous species of undead. Nightcrawlers earn their name because of their black skin and the fact that they only emerge at Night. Generally found in desert and Artic regions, these undead posses a much higher then average degree of intellegence for undead , they are very cunning and also posses a higher then average degree of agility for undead.
Panthers= A dangerous and all too common type of undead that hunts mainly by leaping onto their prey from great distances. Ontop of that, they are amoung the few types of undead that will actually retreat after a failed attack attempt and there are some cases where they even work together in groups to catch stubborn prey.
Sneezer=Sneezers are loud and rather un-coordinated undead that are known for their loud fits of violent sneezing and coughing. They walk as i their chests are undead great pressure , it is not uncommon to see a Sneezer with a bloated torso, it's ribs pressed up against the skin, as if it's lungs are about to burst. If shot in the chest, that is exactly what they will do. There torsos explode, sending rib fragments out like shrapnel, but the real damage comes from the extremely violent gas that develops in the sneezers chest. When inhaled, the gas causes the infected person's body to erupt into large boils and blisters that continue to fill with fluid an puss until their can no longer walk, though they are more likely to die from drowning as their lungs fill with blood and puss. There is another variety of sneezer, who's gas is more acidic, reducing the victim to goop, it has even been known to weaken glass and thin metals.
Dumpster Dumpsters are large, heavily bloated zombies that are homes to thousands of large, wriggling maggots. Each Maggot is over a inch long and has a set of hundreds of very sharp teeth. The entire body of the dumpster is infested with them.So much so the dumpster usually leaves a trail of fallen maggots wherever it goes. It is very slow, but can launch itself at people from a decent distance. Whenever this creature swipes at a person, it slings maggots towards it's victims, even brushing up against one may mean having a few fall on you. These maggots immediately start to tear into whatever they land on and have even been known to eat through body Armour. Furthermore, when shot, these undead sent maggots flying everywhere and, at the same time , unleash between one and four massive worms. These worms can be up to ten feet long and are and posses teeth like the maggots, except larger . They are very swift and can strike like serpents and even constrict, they have been known to punch their way through thin steel doors over a few minutes.
Hives Hives are very unique in the fact that they are not a separate species of zombies, but instead are Dumpster zombies that have lived long enough so that the maggots that infest their bodies pupate and hatch and, by doing so, have become ten times more dangerous. Hives look quite different from their former selves. Instead of massive bloated zombies, they appear to have had every single ounce of fluid sucked from them and instead of maggots, are surrounded by hundreds of thousands of small flies. Now, at first glance, these undead do not appear so threatening, they are very slow and very weak. However, one will find that the flies surrounding the creature are very aggressive and it is usually too late before one realizes that the flies carry the same infection that the undead does. As the fly bites, it transmits the poison into the prey's blood. People have been infected with as few as ten bites and seeing that some flies can even bit through leather boots, it is not hard at all for one to get that many. Fire is the best weapon against the flies who rarely travel more then one hundred feet in any direction from their host
Marshal Marshals are arguably the most dangerous undead type to yet be found. They resemble Nightcrawlers and Panthers in speed and agility, but what makes them so dangerous is their cunning. Marshals are, without a doubt, the most intelligent type of zombie there is. They are so intelligent that they use weapons such as machetes, lead pipes, even handguns. When fighting barehanded, they kick, punch and try to wrestle their foes to the ground . They also learn as they grow older, watching humans and learning how to fight like them. Older Marshal's have even been known to use handguns and set buildings afire to smoke the inhabitants out, pile debris across the road in order to stop caravans to climb in the back or snatch the unwary victim away to kill them silently. What's more, they look no different from any other panther, or scrounger even..the only way to know is when it attacks you with a two by four or lobs a brick at your head from behind.
Bettys- These are regular shufflers with a special surprise; they have mutated skeletal systems that have hardened their bones to a steel like hardness. They usually have bony protrusions out of their body and they can only be taken down by high caliber weapons and explosives. Smaller blunt weapons are useless against them, but heavy objects and heavy blunt weapons could crack through their bones or allow a smaller caliber bullet to kill them.
Seekers- These are very dangerous undead due to their intelligence. Their senses are extremely powerful, allows them to sense beings by smell, and their eyes are mutated to a point where they can see heat, much like a thermal vision. They can sense when a being is under stress or even asleep, according to body heat. Flamethrowers, Flares, and fire can overwhelm their senses and even allow someone to hide right in front of one. They can be taken done by pretty much any weapon, but they usually attack inspecting targets.
Mantraps- Once your basic shuffler, these very peculiar undead have developed a very unique way of obtaining food. They are semi-intelligent, but can only retain a certain amount of information, allowing for their 'technique' to be pulled off. First, about once a week the Mantrap will roll around in the innards of a recently deceased organism, another undead or even peel off the bark of a tree and apply the sap to their rotted skin. Next, depending on the area, the Mantrap will roll around in leaves or sand or dirt, in order to create camoflauge. Then they will meticulously cover up any spots the missed by rotating their heads a full 360 degrees. Last, with their disguise readied, the undead will adhear themselves to a surface that they can blend into or partially bury themselves and wait for prey. Once the target is within about four feet, the Mantrap's name comes into play. The undead's hyper-elongated ribs burst out of it's torso andtear into the prey, rapidly dragging them within biting distance. Mantrap's are a particularly patient form of zombie that will wait for days before eating, and usually hide in groups of ten to fifteen.
Important
All characters are subject to random Zombie attacks of undetermined type and number...so watch yourselves.
You may also start you characters anywhere in the US that you please, just be warned that most of the action will take place near or around the New Chicago !
I am looking for Literate and skillful Roleplayers for this roleplay. I will be selective of those that I allow to join the roleplay. So, be ye warned, you could be sent away if I do not feel that you are serious about this play or your character is not up to my standards. Also, the Co-Gm's word is law, if she gets rid of you, you are gone. I am , however, in charge of selecting characters.
