An Italian Love Triangle?

They say that even the purest blood can be tainted. The most innocent of beings can be destroyed in an instant. But what if one thing could change all that? What if something so simple, yet so hard, could make something or someone change for the greater good?

Italy. Known for its rich history and amazing tourist sights, its quiet towns, and it's lengendary stories. But one of the most Lengendary of all of these stories, is the one about creatures so beautiful, that they can twist your very soul by just staring into your eyes. They can capture your heart just by whispering a single word. What are these creatures? And what could they possibly want? Legends say that they came from the very earth itself, seaking blood so that they may live forever and keep their beauty. People these days have a modern word for this type of monster. Vampire.

The other beast that haunts the Italian legend is a huge wolf like monster. Lycans there are call beasts from the underworld that are always at war with Vampires. Lycans walk among humans during the day keeping the beast inside as best they can control but as night falls the beast claws at the human facade and tries to tear out. At night when the creature walks it hunts for the vampires that have been deemed it's mortal enemy. Since lycans walk during the day as humans they feel like they must protect them from the nightwalkers.

In a small town in Southern Italy near the sea, It was one of the darkest and coldest nights of the year. And it is that time of year that no one dares leave their homes after sunset. During these cold night when the creatures from your darkest night mares come to life . Most people who don't live in this small town believe that it is just a silly superstision, little do they know the truth about those legends.

Profiles:

May Williams
Image
May stands at about 5'2 and she's very tiny her red hair reaches her lower back when she lets it down.
May lives with her mom, dad, and youngerbrother. She also has an older brother who is fifteen years older than she is. She was born in a small town in Southern, France and lived there until she was about twelve, and then their parents moved them to England to be closer to her brother and his wife and son. They have also lived in Germany for a while But finnally settled in Italy because her father got a job with a sports car company. May loved the sights and she's happy here.

Victoria "Vita" Marino
Image
Vita was created in Italy by an elder vampire who thought she was beautiful as a human. Her "father" Silas, soon renamed her after she was changed. That is the awful thing about vampire transformation you don't remeber you human life before them. Vita stayed with Silas' clan in Italy for fifty years and then left because she could no longer take the slaughtering. She came back a few years later after discovering how hard it was to be on your own with vampire hunter out on the prowl. Silas soon had her betrothed to a young vampire prince from another clan so she wouldn't run off again

Ryan Crest
ImageA prominent member of the Summers-Crest lycan pack. He's the nephew of the Alpha. When he was thirteen Ryan's father died in battle; the Alpha took him in as his own. He spends his free time hunting the vampires in the Moretti clan, who've been slaughtering his ancestors since they moved to Italy centuries ago. All of the male Lycans in his clan drop out of school at sixteen, but Ryan decided he wanted to stay enrolled. The Alpha allowed it only because Ryan had never asked him for anything else. On one hunt Ryan found who he now knows to be Alex Moretti feeding on a woman in a dark alleyway. The two of them fought and now Ryan has a very ugly scar to show for it.

Alex Moretti
ImageThe prince of the Moretti vampire clan that has been in Italy since it was founded. For much of their history the Moretti Clan has had it easy; they had the practice of sending small parties abroad to collect human blood and bring it back. Blood was chilled, and rationed generously, and, as prince, Alex drunk all he wanted. When the Summers-Crest pack arrived however they started attacking the Moretti traveling parties. Apparently lycan scouts could smell blood almost as well as vampires so transporting large amounts of it, or even hunting humans at night, tended to draw them. The travelling parties stopped and each vampire became responsible for acquiring blood for themselves. Half of the Moretti clan reverted to drinking animal blood, the other half, including Alex, hunt humans.

((I <3 Lelouch!! KK first post))

May shut her locker and sighed brushing her red hair out of her face "Why didn't I tie my hair up today" She mumbled to herself as she headed down the hall to her next class. She bumped past several people and started speeding up her walking as the warning bell rung "Stupid Science why is it on the other side of the building?" she said to herself. May barely slipped into the loud classroom as the bell rung.
"Everyone take a seat!" the teacher called
The only table that was open was the one with Ryan Crest, who hardley anyone spoke to, except several sophomore boys, because of his scar and his generally scary aura. May sighed and went to the back of the class and sat at the table with Ryan. "I guess we're partners today" she said softly looking at him.

Vita was driving her father's traveling car ,a '52 convertable Corvette, to the Moretti house. She frowned as she pulled up to the luxurious seaside manor that simply screamed Moretti to her. Took in a deep breath as she parked the car and got out, running her fingers through her windblown hair and trying to straighten her appearance out somewhat. Vita's nose wrinkled at the scent of animal blood in the air, it was about as unappetizing as eating human food to her anyways. She walked up to the door and pulled her sunglasses on top of her head and pulled her hood down before she knocked three times.
"Yes" said a man as he opened the door
"I'm here to see Alex" she said ,in her soft melodious voice, to the man she assumed to be the butler. "
"Ah yes miss Victoria we've been expecting you" He said as he showed her into the living area "He'll be with you shortly"
Vita rolled her eyes at the Victoria part she hated her real name. "Yeah thanks" she said as she sat down one one of the leather couchs 'I wonder what he's like...' she thought to herself

Ryan managed to suppress a triumphant grin as May took the seat next to him. He had noticed that May tended to show up a bit late for science class (he noticed everything about May actually); he figured it was because she was still new to the school and had a tendency to lose her way on long trips across the building. For the last few days Ryan had been purposely putting on unusually angry scowls before science class to discourage people from sitting next to him so the last one in the class would be the one stuck with the seat. His plan had failed the previous days, but that day it worked perfectly.

"May right?" he said casually as he put his science book on the desk and flipped to the appropriate chapter.

Originality he'd wanted to stay in school because his father had always been so proud of him when he brought home good grades. He knew his father could still see him and he wanted to continue making him proud. When May showed up it was just an extra bit of motivation for him go against the practices of his pack. There were good reasons for the practices, lycans went through changes at around his age, but Ryan was sure it wasn't anything he couldn't handle. One change was an enhanced sense of smell. That one gave him trouble when he was forced to be around Stinky Steve, but with May next him he had no complaints.

Ryan inhaled softly through his nostrils, long and slow, enjoying her scent.

Alex came down the spiral staircase dressed in a fine tailored suit from an age long past. He was bit anxious to see the girl that would be his bride. In truth, he'd have been glad to have her no matter what she looked like. The Moretti clan had been having trouble with the lycans lately and the Morino clan was very old and respectable, they'd be fine allies.

Alex saw her on the couch. As a vampire he was immune to the dazzling beauty of his own kind but all the same, to call her attractive would be a sore understatement.

"Geoffrey, would you bring us blood?"

"Of course my prince," the butler said as he hurried off.

Alex approached the woman named Victoria. He took her hand and pressed his lips against the back briefly and then straightened. "I am Prince Alex Moretti," he said, introducing himself.

Alex rarely stuck to the mannerisms of old, but he found it nice to resurrect them every now and again.

May felt slightly relieved when Ryan didn’t just scoff at her, “Yes you’re Ryan, correct?” she said her French accent making itself known. She set her books down on her desk and sighed looking up at the green chalkboard. The teacher had assigned reading that they’d go over the next day and most of the other students has shut their book’s and were just talking.

“Is this class always like this?” she asked. She had noticed over the past few days the teachers didn’t actually teach they just gave assignments and students learned the lessons on their own.
May slid her purple hair tie ,that she was wearing like a bracelet, off her wrist and tied her hair back in a lose pony tail leaving her bangs hanging. She glanced over at right Ryan from behind her bangs and smiled slightly. He really was very attractive despite his scar, she smirked at the thought, her new friend Karen was always saying that and admiring him from afar and May had to admit she was right.
________________________________________________________________________________

Vita smirked as she heard footstep and turned her head towards the sound. The young man she assumed was Alex walked down the staircase to her left with the inhuman grace known only to vampires. He was every bit as stunning as the other girls in her clan had squealed about but that was common, just as he was un-effected by her beauty she was un-effected by his.

When he called his butler to bring blood Vita licked her lips involuntarily at the thought of fresh chilled blood, it had been too long since she fed last.

Vita threw on a dazzling white smile in place of her smirk when he pressed a brief kiss to the back of her hand. “Pleasure” she said when he introduced himself. “Victoria Morino” she said she didn’t add princess or anything like that. Although she supposed she would be considered that ,she was Silas’ daughter, but she was a human born and that did put a different spin on things.

"Yeah," He said, confirming his identity. He was actually a little surprised she knew his name. The teachers never said it because he never really raised his hand. She must have been paying a bit of extra attention to him. It was encouraging.

"It's horrible isn't it," he agreed glancing up at Mrs. Jennings who was just then getting into one of her magazines. "We have to teach ourselves more or less."

He watched her as they spoke, and as she put up her hair. He was glad to be so close to her, glad to have a good excuse to make eye contact. As she talked he could smell her breath and her skin so clearly that he could almost taste it. It made his heartbeat quicken some.

He noticed her eyes move to his scar for a brief instant. It was a bit discouraging... but he didn't blame her. It wasn't exactly easy to miss. if she didn't complain about his occasional, involuntary, glances towards her boobs (which she'd no doubt notice sooner or later), he wouldn't complain about her noticing the hideous scar on his face.

"If you start having trouble you should find someone smart study to with," he suggested.

Alex settled just next to Victoria. It wasn't long before Geoffrey brought two wine glasses filled with blood, set them on the coffee table in front of them, and then excused himself.

One glass wasn't much. It was just a tease on the appetite... but what a tease it was. "I collected this myself just two nights ago," he told her. "There was a car accident. The blood of the driver drew me to the site, but this --" he said raising his glass some "-- came from the child in the car seat... I hope that doesn't bother you." He regarded her with interest wondering what her response would be.

Drinking the heavenly liquid slowly, as opposed to dumping it all in his mouth at once, was an exercise in excruciating self control. When the liquid was gone he licked the glass clean as best he could.

"Blood like this doesn't come easy anymore. I may as well tell you now that our clan is plagued by lycans, the damn dirty dogs."

May smiled widely at Ryan now “The schools are so different here” she sighed remembering the long lectures of her French teachers constant note taking was such a bore. “In some ways it’s more fun than my old French private school” Her well to do parent’s had made sure she went to one of the finest elementary schools in France but once they started to move around they just sent her to public school. It semed to be too much of a hassel for them to keep enrolling her in the private schools with their extensive checking.

“Hmm someone smart?” she said curiously she didn’t know too many people at school yet and the clique of girls that were always around Karen sure didn’t seem to smart. “Any suggestions” she asked as she looked down at her shirt her kept glancing in that general area and she was wondering if there was something on her shirt.

________________________________________

Vita bit her lower lip in anticipation as the butler set the glasses down in front of them, she almost couldn’t resists ripping it out of his hands and downing it. She smiled at the butler as he left, being polite, and picked up the glass slowly and lifted it to her lips savouring the scent, it was like smelling a prime steak before you dug in. She drained the glass slowly and licked the remnants off her lips. “Mmm children’s blood is always so sweet” she said with a sigh she didn’t like the fact that her kind killed innocents but it was survival of the fittest and vampires were definetly some of the fittest. “Do you hunt yourself very often?” she asked

“Ahh Yes your pest problem” Vita said with a smirk “We haven’t had issues with a pack for a few years “ she sighed shaking her head at the memory of the boys who had been slaughtered in front of her when she had first been turned, some fifty year ago. Silas’ had said she needed to witness it but Vita had still been two young a vampire to handle that well. She understood well the issues that lycans posed for a clan. “You should come visit us by the sea it’s the tourist season and there’s alot of...” she thought for a moment “Mmm fresh meat persay”

"The grass is always greener," Ryan said, referring to the chaos of his school. Sure it was fun to be able to talk in class all the time, but they were getting closer and closer to having to apply to schools that would gladly reject them if they weren't smart enough. If Ryan did graduate and attend college he'd be the first of his eight brothers, and countless cousins, to do so.

When he noticed her checking her shirt he started trying a bit harder to keep his eyes up and well behaved.

"Um," he said craning his neck, pretending to search the room for someone smart. After a moemnent he 'gave up' and sighed. "I suppose i could study with you sometime... if you want. I'm pretty handy at science and math."

He watched her reaction to the fact that it was children's blood carefully. By her words she seemed pleased with it, but there was a slight shift in her demeanor, hinting at a bit of compassion. He liked that in a woman actually.

When she asked him about his hunting himself he shifted a bit uncomfortably. "I do actually. I remember the times when Kings fought on the front lines themselves. Henry the third died that way: now that was a fine man..." He trailed off. In truth he hated the idea of hunting for himself. The fact that his clan had been driven to an every-man-for-himself mentality by the lycans was a deep embarrassment. Clans had dissolved that way in the past.

Alex had heard tales of Morino's slaughterer of an entire pack fifty years back, down to the children. If his father had dealt with the small Summers pack in the same mannor when they fist came to Italy they wouldn't be in this situation. His father spared one disgusting little lycan boy, and seventy years later there were dozens of them. And they were not normal lycans; Alex suspected they bred themselves selectively and trained from youth to kill vampires. "I'm afraid our pests are bigger, faster, and stronger than any I've seen in all my years," he said. He kept eye contact with her while he spoke so she'd take heed. They were quite the pest problem.

"I'll take you up on that invitation," he said with a grin. It had been a long time since he had gotten out and he wouldn't have much opportunity soon. Things would get worst before they got better. He and his clansmen were very close to locating the Lycan den. About a year ago, Alex had a chance to kill a young Lycan but instead he left the boy with a very clear and apparent mark, in hope that someone could find him in human form and follow him back to his den.

May smiled at Ryan and nodded her head "Yes that is of course till you get over to the other side" She sighed as she thought about her parents constant moving around to different places, what they had thought were "greener grasses". She never liked bouncing from place to place her parents always said it was for the best of course, but in reality it was just her father jumping from job to job each one higher paying than the last. May assumed they'd being staying in Italy for a while now though her fathers job was about at the top of the pay scale and with their luxurious house by the sea she figured her mother was happy with the arrangement also.

May's whole face brightened when he said He could help her. "Oh are you?! That would be c'est tres magnifique, wonderful" She smiled widely now . May was skilled with analytics and comprehesion which made her excel at English and history but May was a very concrete thinker and suffered with science theories and math.

May sighed again and scribbled her name cell number and address on a piece of paper. "Here's my contact information you can call me or come over anytime you feel like" she smiled again as she tore out the sheet and handed it to him "My parents don't mind whether I have boys over or not so just ask for me at the door and Mom will let you in" she pursed her lips for a moment "Since I'm still catching up do you think you could come over after school or tonight? That would be so helpful" She looked at him hopefully. Ryan certainly didn't seem half as scary as he did at the beggining of class.

___________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Vita noticed him shift and wondered the reason for it she didn't like hunting herself but that was more because she didn't like to think about where the blood she drank came from. Sometimes she go off on her own to hunt but that was during times of shortages like the Moretti's were suffering from now. Vita's clan had no issues with fresh suppl right now because as she she had said it was the tourist season and their was a steady stream of fine humans streaming in from the mainland.

Vita nodded her head slowly she knew the issue's his clan was suffering from just the simple fact that a some of the lower bred's had switched over to animal blood bespoke it's severity. Victoria crossed her ankles and leaned foward slightly to show her intrest. "Silas did speak to me of the issues the pack has caused but I assure you we Morino's are not so easily detered by a few overgrown dogs..." she paused "Well at least I'm not" she said smiling ruefully. Vita had lost her half sister to a dog; Vita and her sister Angeline had been very close and Vita lost all her pity for lycans after the incident.

"That's wonderful" she said enthusiastically then she laughed a little "I'll probably have to fight over you, with some of the girls" she said with a smile. Thinking of some of her jealous clanmates they had all wanted the privalege to be the prince's bride but it had fallen to Vita, mostly because Silas was to attached to her to lose her again "That's alright though, I always win and I always keep what's mine"

Ryan smiled for two reasons: one because she had brightened considerably and such an expression was very fitting for an angelic face like hers. Second because she had spoken french which happened to be the only subject he was in serious danger of failing. "Sacrebleu," he whispered significantly. He didn't know that meant exactly, but he was pretty sure it was french. "You speak french? You'll have to tutor me in that."

He was glad to get her phone number and address, and shocked to actually be invited over. It did pose a problem though. All of the men in his pack hunted at night. For one that was when the vamps came out to play, besides Lycans tended to be a bit temperamental when the moon came up. On the occasion the pack stayed in, he and his brothers would literally be at each other's throats all night long. His older relatives always warned him that when a Lycan gave his heart to a woman, the issue of temper intensified a hundred fold. He couldn't imagine having any problems with May though. She was so sweet, and her cuteness was absolutely disarming.

He supposed he'd be able to skip a hunt or two to spend time with her.

"I'll be there tonight," he said as he folded the paper and slid it into his pocket. He turned to his book and started reading over mind numbing scientific formulas in an attempt get the goofy smile off his face.

Alex decided he couldn't have picked a better mate himself. She was young enough to still have a touch a humanity, but as strong willed and stubborn as an ancient relic like himself. He grinned when she said 'I always keep whats mine'.

"Thats something we have in common," Alex said. "When I find something beautiful, rest assured, I don't let go of it until it's pried from my cold, dead, hands." He brushed the back of his fingers against the skin of her cheek gently. What he said was true: he didn't let go of things. Any member of the clan that spoke of relocating, he reprimanded strongly. He let it be known that as long as he lived (figuratively speaking) the Moretti's turf would belong to the Morettis alone and not a bunch of mutts.

He tried to push the Lycans out of his mind. They'd ruined enough for him already and he wouldn't let them put a damper on his meeting his bride to be. As he looked at her he wondered about what she truly thought of him, what she truly felt. Few things were a mystery to him at his age, but women were, to some extent. Some of them could be quite the riddle.

He looked into her eyes for a moment before remembering his manners at long last. "Would you like me to show you around the manor?"

May cringed at his horrible pronunciation but he had used it in the right context at least. “Oh my goodness? I don’t think so” she shrugged her shoulders at his amazement that she spoke French. She was actually surprised he hadn’t picked up on her accent that was very strongly pronounced, being raised in france till she was twelve had quite an impact but the French prided themselves on learning multiple languages and May didn’t actually know that many by French standards. “Italian, English, French, I’ll be glad to help you in French I’m still quite fluent” she said rolling her eyes , considering her parents spoke a mix of French and English at home it actually wasn’t that surprising.

She smiled and layed her hand on his and gave it a squeeze “Thank you so much you don’t know how much I need this” she said as she moved her hand and opened her book with only a few minutes laft in class she supposed she had better at least try to read some of the assigned chapter.

The bell blared signaling the end of the period. “I’ll see you tonight then” she said with a smile as she stood up and picked up her science book. Karen was waiting for her at the door she smiled at Ryan on last time before running to her friend.

“Study hall finally” she said to Karen relieved it was the last period of the day. Karen smirked at her friend “Ha! The way you were looking at Ryan I would’ve thought science was your favorite subject” May blushed at Karen’s observation and hip bumped her friend “Shush” she said hoping Ryan wasn’t walking behind them or something.

________________________________________________________________________________________

Vita raised her eyebrows at Alex’s grin she knew some guys didn’t like possessive women and avoided them but that didn’t seem to deter him any. She had assumed he would want the quiet soft spoken lady that Victoria definitely wasn’t but in fact he returned her possessiveness with a twist of his own. She smiled sweetly at him when he called her beautiful, something that wasn’t uncommon in the vampire world but no one acknowledged it any more it was to much the norm. She sighed when she felt his fingers brush against her cheek and she leaned into the carress slightly

Vita smiled at him “Yes of course” she said as she uncrossed her ankles and stood up. She looked around the grand open room and wondered how many rooms were actually in this place. “How long has your clan been here?” she asked the Morino’s had moved from England after the last of the Red Rose Tudors were thrown out of power and decapitated. She remembered Silas’ history rant always bragging about how Morinos had occupied the throne of England until 200 years ago.

When she touched his hand, Ryan's heart raced little and he could feel some animalistic urges rising to surface. His foot started taping quickly beneath the table. "No problem," he assured her. For the next few minutes he tried keep his eyes on his book. He read the same line a couple times as the warmth of her hand against his lingered on his skin and her smell lingered in his nostrils.

"See you then," he said to her, once class was over. He followed her out. He noticed Karen saying something to May, and then glancing in his direction out in the hallway. He didn't quite catch what was said through. He ran through possibilities in his mind as he headed down the hall.

After school Ryan took the bus to the outskirts of town, and then hiked through a half mile of thick woods to get to the old ramshackle, vine covered, house that belong to Alpha. He pushed inside and headed straight for the kitchen. Inside there were men from his pack huddled around the kitchen table as usual, devouring large slabs of roasted meat.

"What the hell are you so happy about?" Angelo, his cousin, asked him. The man's mouth was full; flecks of food shot forth as he spoke.

"I'm not happy," Ryan said quickly. Damnit that grin was persistent. He he pulled open the fridge and took out a few steaks and thew them in the microwave. "I'm just glad to be home, I'm pretty hungry."

"Bullshit," Travis chimed in.

"It's a girl isn't it?" another said.

You could say what you wanted about his family but they certainly were a perceptive bunch.

"Mind your own business," Ryan barked. The flare of anger in his voice told the others all they needed to know. They chuckled, and then poked fun of him for the rest of the afternoon.

"Moretti lore says that one of our clanmates was the advisor to the lengedary King Italus," Alex explained as he led Victoria across the sitting room towards the glass double doors on the other end. "But record keeping wasn't all that great in those days and none of us, still living, are that old. We were certainly here since the middle ages however."

The room opened up into a courtyard with neatly trimmed grass and floral arrangements. There was a bubbling fountain in the middle. He led her across the cobblestone walkway to the entrance of their library on the other side. As luxurious as the Moretti manor was, there wasn't many terribly interesting rooms inside, besides the library.

"This is my favorite room," he said as they walked inside. There were three open floors. The upper landings were railed off. There were bookshelves lining the walls in every direction. Oil and charcoal paintings hung here and there of people who vaguely resembled Alex. Mahogany tables and desks dotted the room for reading. There was a man sitting at one of tables; he gave them both small respectful bows before returning to his book. "A couple of the books here are the only existing copies. You can take a look around if you'd like."

When May's mother pulled up in their silver porsche, May sighed and slapped her palm to her forehead. "By Karen" she called to her friend who just stood in front of her bus mouth hanging open. "Maman, I told you not to bring the expensive car what will mon amis think now?" May's mother rolled her eyes at her daughter "Trust me dear ta mere knows how les enfants brains work, you will probably have more people talking to you tommorrow" May just huffed and sighed as they pulled up to their seaside house she grinned.

"Bonjour Papa comment ca va?" She called as she dropped her backpack in the hall way
"I'm well May, how was school?" her father said as May flopped down on the couch with a sigh
"Enneyeux, very boring...." she didn't add except for science. "Are you and Maman allez au cinema tonight?" she asked
"Oui, yes and if you want you can have friends over" May smiled and jumped up to hug her father who was sitting in a chair opposite from her.
"Merci Papa!" she said with a sqeal as she hugged him and wrinkled his news paper, her father grinned as he watched May scamper upstairs to her bedroom

"May! Nous allons!! We'll be home tomorrow morning" Her father called after a couple hours
"Au revoir Papa et Maman" She called from the kitchen , she was baking cookies. Har parents left and she sighed with relief her parent never minded if she had boys over but they were a constant nusance when they were home which they weren't half the time. She tied her hair back and checked her outfit one last time. "Parfais!" she said as she looked at her jean skirt and spagetti strap top. She pulled out the cookies and moved them to a serving tray which she set in the living room. "Now all thats left to do is wait" she said to herself as she sat on the sofa with her math homework

Victoria smiled at Alex and listened to the short history as they walked. She gasped when she saw the beautiful garden "Oh it's lovely out here" she said with a sigh, she was grateful it was cloudy or she and alex would be on the verge of becoming piles of ash out here.

Now whe they entered the expansive three story library Vita was speechless for a moment "Wow" she said in a soft voice as she turned in a circle taking it all in. "This place is amazing" she said in awe. "I can?" she cried with joy when he said she could look around.

Vita headed straight for the classics "Shakespere's A Midsummers Night's Dream, First edition" she said as she gently pulled the old leather bound book off it's shelf. She set on a table and blew some dust off the front cover "This book is almost older than Silas" she said with a small laugh as she opened the book to a radom page "Love looks not with the eyes, but with the mind; And therefore is wing'd Cupid painted blind" she quoted not even looking at the book but at Alex "Thank you for showing me this place" she said smiling at him
