Thu Sep 24, 2009 3:48 pm | Jess | Hi! I'm Jess, and I'm the head honcho at these here boards. I realize its a bit tacky to try to review my own work - what can I say? "Man, that Jess guy is just such a smooth operator!" I mean, really? Instead, I'd like to take the time to tell you why you should take some time and poke around our forums. First of all, lemme hit you with a bit of info about how a forum game like ours works! This means of RP is great for people who love games, but can't spend time logged into an IRC or otherwise chat for hours on end. So long as you can check the forums and post back once every twenty four hours, you're in the game! And if its more, its better! We operate a lot of games and hope to open more, but not all games work - even ones we love. Furthermore, sometimes our players decide they want to do something, say, run their own game! So, while our flagship game Hellestar: The Secagen Story is a custom creation, we also host a Vampire: The Masquerade game. We've had some games not perform as well as we'd like (Here's lookin' at you, Shadowrun), and some ideas might not get off the ground, but others perform admirably to say the least! Most of all, as a community that has been together for over a decade, a lot of our players are truly engaged in producing new content on a daily basis. Sure, there's the occasional bickering over some bad dice roll that happened a few years ago, but that's just another reflection of how much we put into the game! Even the deepest loves have the occasional hiccup. So, why not swing by www.hellestar.com and take a look! Once you do, you're sure to be hooked. |

Thu Sep 24, 2009 7:13 pm | abbie-mun | Great community offered here, several games running, only a small member base currently, but has great potential. I have been a member for the best part of a year now, and thoroughly enjoy gaming on the boards. The self-made games have hugely engaging worlds, one of which has been running for a decade or so, in various forms. Also has a few " off the shelf" RPG's running, with a highly entertaining game location for each. Definately worth a look in. |

Fri Sep 25, 2009 5:19 pm | Mardya | I've been playing at HtSS for a couple of months now and I'm impressed with the amount of creativity a relative small community can produce. From Vampires to gifted high school students to guardians saving the universe, there's a lot to like for a diverse group of players. Despite the play taking place mainly on forums, the games keep a steady pace with room for socials and combat both. | 8 |
Wed Dec 29, 2010 10:23 pm | Lexy | I take back what I said previously. The head GM obviously has no real GMing skills. He up and shut down the game without any notice to his players or to his other GMs. Very poor tact. Unstable community. I fled when I had the chance. | 1 |
