Huh apparently I read everything but the orphan's part.

If you do some thing Halloween themed I think it would have to fall within the realm of end saga though, not sure just how well the saw dungeon would work in an mmo D&D style roleplay. Unless it's a literal dungeon full of literal saws.

For friends: I think Alva and Maria would get along well, both of them favoring group outings rather than soloing. Valkyrie's character and Alva I think would get along pretty well too the three of them could even be usual partner's for when they go into dungeons. As Rivals: He might have met Sauvra...

I feel like for the sake of keeping the spirit of the roleplay the old members are npc's somewhere in the world. Maybe they got off the daedalus with the money they had received from it already and wanted to have a more "normal" life.

So do DA's fight alongside us? I was wondering how they act when our character's are in combat, do they stay back where it's safe, do they have combat abilities themselves, or do they disappear?

She'll more than likely partake in some of those macho conflicts herself once in a while I'm sure, either by trying to out do your character's or by making fun of them.
