A turquoise dove appeared, circling around, sent by the hand of Frendor Falcon-Wind, carrying and repeating his message, and ready to hear and bring back a reply.
/say Will you answer the call for the Champions of Gaia?
While Zirkonia was resting, Frendor kept watch, looking at the sky for signs of action, using his elvish night vision. He maintained the illusion of the frost giant Terakon Luvinair and stood ready to counter any action from Asvith Thrym or indeed from Eras.
He decided to issue another call by projecting his mind into the World Spirit of Gaia:
Champions of Gaia, be prepared to combine our forces! Be ready! Call out to me whoever needs the most help!
Frendor listened carefully to the ancient legends of the Precursor, with awe and fascination. Surely he was now interacting with vast forces beyond his understanding! He had never met one of the ancient champions, nor yet one of the Ithquent; he was still too young.
In the distance, he could start to see the outline of the vast army of Syros, with an important looking man and woman standing beside Syros himself, gazing up at Zirkonia as she approached them.
Just in time, Frendor remembered to suspend the illusion of a frost giant, Terakon Luvinair, following the dragon, so that the followers of Syros would not mistake him for one of the Collossi.
Frendor prepared himself to gently slide down from Zirkonia to greet Syros.
"Hail Syros, Champion of Gaia, and Slayer of the Collossi. I am Frendor Falcon Wind, a humble elf, and this is the great dragon Zirkonia. We come to warn you that one of the Collossi, Asvith Thyrm, has awoken and is causing devastation all around Gaia. We have used our limited powers to distract and slow his progress, but Gaia will not be safe until all the Champions are united together."
There were strange whisperings in the distance and sinister laughter. Lousia moved closer to the fountain as if it provided an aura of safety. The sky grew darker and more threatening. Her heart started to beat faster. She had to concentrate to slow down her breathing so that she could focus. Teddy bears do not like getting wet and they cannot swim, so she was careful not to touch the water of the fountain. This became more difficult as the wind started to howl and tear at the jet of water. Crystal struggled to hold her shape and form.
However they persevered and soon reached the edge of the forest. A pixie was waiting for them. He bowed and greeted them with a frown.
"Friends, I fear that dark forces have entered the forest. The water is tainted by whatever lies deep inside. I sense corruption, death and great evil."
Crystal sighed.
"This is as close as I can come. I am a water elemental. I travel and move and live in the medium of water. Yet the water flowing out from the forest is too tainted for me to travel any further upstream where the poisons are more concentrated. I dare not go any further, but I will do what I can to find another way through the underground streams to a source of pure water. Farewell."
Then she submerged and seemed to dissolve into the water.
