In a realm above the rest, as the five on Sam's boat were prepared boarding the ferry to go to Yavin, Mizuki and Thanos, the two players of the game, sat at their game table, a new conundrum on their hands. "The Ronan thing was dirty." Mizuki muttered, biting her thumb at her enemy, Thanos, the embodiment of darkness and of power. Mizuki was the opposite, naturally, representing light and justice. Neither of them really existed as their own individual entities anymore, the ones playing the game were closer to being concepts instead. "Not as dirty as bringing Aria back to the game." Was Thanos's trite response as he made his move on the table. While Mizuki had specific pieces she could use and manipulate, Thanos's pieces were more akin to a thirst for power, he played by triggering the sin residing inside of someone and having them act on it to hurt others.

Then someone walked in to serve them tea, allowing the two players a bit of a break for the time being. Michael Angeal - because he was an angel, he was able to exist outside of his Summoner, the pin of an angel wing that resided in the mountains of Aurum, waiting for Ally's descendants to find. "Michi, it's almost time." Mizuki murmured to him and he nodded, their conversation ending just as quickly as that. "I'll do my best, Mizu." Thanos watched with amusement but as soon as Michael left his expression darkened. "We both know this game is only a farce." He said, glaring hard at his opponent, who was already devising plans for her next move. "We should just abandon this boring game and go to the next one, this game is just a fake attempt to bring back what was lost." She pretended to ignore him and continued to stare at the board. "You're a concept now, you're not allowed to show favoritism anymore."

It was against the rules for a concept to do anything but serve their role. It would be like a parent showing favoritism for one child and ignoring the other. "A true neutral and impartial Justice would have been on the Senate's side against Enrya's cruelty." L said again, eyes narrowing further. Mizuki shrugged and turned away from him. "Once I give that girl a happy ending, I'll be impartial." She said softly, her fingers dancing daintily against the game board as she organized pieces. "I won't play favorites after that, okay?" For a moment she thought Thanos was going to get up and leave the game but he remained seated, and made his next move, preparing for another attack.

In the beginning the game didn't really exist, in the beginning it was just the two of them, but Mizuki knew Yui's last chance of a happy ending was here, and knew she couldn't let go of her humanity without saving her cute little sister, one last time. Was that so much to ask for, was it such a bad thing? "...Thank you for being willing to play with me." If Thanos hadn't sat down and agreed to be her opponent, this game would be impossible and Mizu would have had no choice but to be impartial, even if it meant hurting Yui. "It's to teach you how to reign as a Concept." Thanos growled, eyes flashing dangerously. "It was supposed to be Yui in that chair, but you stole it from her. You weren't meant to have this fate, so I will train you until you're suitable." That certainly sounded like a challenge. Mizuki grinned wildly. "Train me all you want, but you won't stop me from giving Yui the ending she deserves!"

The final battle of the Third World War. All the forces of the United American Front was waging war at the mighty Japanese Imperial Army. The two most powerful men in the world who were orchestrating this war, well, they weren't even present, they were both safely at home, watching as soldiers died for them, for no reason at all, for resources, money, power, and for nothing most importantly. Ira Shoku and Roger Cross, said to be this generation's version of Kennedy and Johnson -except with the whole world at stake -, were directing the conflict while the mindless slaves fought on. One of the slaves, Prisca, the first artificial lightbearer and the one that 'gave birth' so to speak, to many others throughout the war, standing above the battlefield on a hovering platform, watching. 'You're strong, so only fight the strong enemies that our others can't handle." Her higher ups said.

Prisca didn't mind that order as she traced a finger on the rat's tail right on the ridge of her spine. It tingled and she frowned unhappily. That mark was a curse, it was a brand. This girl is a rat, she's nothing but a traitor, why else would she have such an unsightly mark? Because of a fit of jealousy, she ratted out the entire Freedom Fighter movement within America, if it wasn't for her they could have killed off President Cross and have ended this war already! But instead, everyone she ever cared about was dead, and her hands were continuously stained with blood over and over again. Even with her plasma gun and her prediction, it wasn't like Prisca was going to be much of a match for the stars of Shoku's army. The girl of prophecy, Yui, the embodiment of darkness, and then Nemesis, her most loyal bodyguard, a brutal wielder of air.

"Well, Essie, I guess it's time, isn't it?" Prisca whispered to the nothing around her, aiming her hover platform right for the girl of darkness herself, Yui. Prisca was always the strongest of the artificial light bearers, so she knew her best bet for death would be to fight this wild girl tearing apart her enemies one by one. "Captain, I'm going in." Prisca reported into her earpiece and flew right at Yui, blinking her eyes at Yui to activate her ability. With this she could predict Yui's next three moves and as such, act accordingly. Yui was going to shoot a ball of blood that way, so Prisca dodged to the left. Then a blood sword would be slashed, Prisca would swerve around it. Lastly, Yui would create a wave of blood from the dead to strike at her. Prisca's best chance was to aim her plasma gun right where Yui's head was going to be the moment before she set up the blood wave.

It would have worked if not for a sudden feral roar beside her. A gust of wind knocked Prisca right off her platform but she hopped onto the condensed cloud, predicting perfectly where it was going to be. "Master Yui won't be hurt by anyone, Nemi won't allow it!" Nemesis growled and Prisca blinked, her brain going into overdrive again. She could see the possibilities unfolding in front of her. First she would jump to dodge the blast of air! And then the next move would be to shoot at her before Nemesis finished
charging up more wind. And lastly she would shoot at Yui, forcing Nemi to take the hit!

The problem with her ability was obvious, of course. She can only predict one enemy at a time, after all! And so as Prisca focused on Yui to aim the shot after the first two moves, Nemi struck right for her before Prisca could even react, and then she felt a sudden weightlessness as a large chunk of her torso disappeared from the air explosion. It was short, it was sudden, and it was entirely as expected. "I've never... been as good as you, Essie." Prisca whispered, taking out the plastic rose from her pocket, her only keepsake from her previous life. Someone was screaming in her ear, it was the Captain, but Prisca didn't care anymore, so she shut off the intercom. Nemi and Yui both had lost interest then, moving on to continue the fight.

"You regret everything, don't you? A strange, almost teasing voice from... somewhere. Prisca was most definitely dying, wasn't she? So what was happening, what was this glowing white figure? She couldn't even piece together any of it features, let alone guess at what kind of face it had. It's voice sounded familiar but also impossible distant all at once. "I will give you a chance to redeem yourself and make up for your crimes." Prisca would have laughed if her life wasn't fading out before her eyes. 'The Immortal Girl needs to be saved. Slumber for now, and when the time is right, Martyr, you will know what to do."

Prisca Hart was dead, but the fight was far from over. Nemesis was hurt bad from the way the plasma scorched her body, Nemi was hardly moving. Maybe a tiny bit of the former child within the Immortal Girl awakened because right then and there, it was as if she snapped, no longer just fighting against Cross's armies, but also against Shoku's. Her grieving rain of blood and death would destroy civilization as anyone knew it, and would bring about what would forever be remembered as the Calamity.

....

A tiny, flitting voice after an eternity of slumber. "The Caster's Ritual is about to begin, with these objects we've gathered over the years, the time is now."
