Henry went to get a snack, feeling exhausted after the adventure in the time tunnels, despite his replenished energy after emerging. He opened the fridge and saw some tuna salad. Not his favorite, but it'd do for a small sandwich. As he made his way to make it, he noticed someone staring at him from his peripheral vision.

One of Akiko's cats. The collar, he squinted to read said Will-o-Wisps.

"Do you....want the tuna?" he asked.

The cat narrowed it's eyes.

"I'm not even sure you can eat anything in here that's not tuna."

The cat's eyes narrowed further.

"Look, I'm not gonna give you anything that could kill you! Unless you're already dead or something...Are you guys even regular cats?"

"Purr...." the cat said, glancing form one side of the room to the other.

"..."

The cat slowly made it's way backwards out of the kitchen...

"Woooo...?" a small noise rustled from beneath a small mound of sand. A beetle larvae, younger even than the recently slaughtered baby beetle. It nudged it's sibling's lifeless corpse. "Wooooo...." it crooned sadly.

"Well, not that introductions have ended, let us try not to die in the dead of this cursed night," he smiled, giving the others the sense that they would likely die. "Nyukiba!" he called out, his bee suddenly taking flight and scooping him up onto her back with her head. "I'll take point, Lucky will guard the back," the shaman explained, rubbing his chin. "First we find Ada and then we find your daughter," he pointed at Elysa. "And then you all begin to make your leave."

"Something's out to kill us," M'Kama pointed out. "Best stay on your toes." He turned around to face Elysa who was busy collecting the bloodied sand, the only remains of her dead colleague and somberly stuffing it into an urn. "You. I need you to gather the remaining researchers once you're all done packing up."

"Packing up to go where?" Elysa stammered in response.

"To help Ada find your daughter, of course!" M'Kama stated, cheerfully. "And get you out of these accursed sands."

"That so?" a voice called out from amongst the researchers. He spoke a Sorillian dialect and appeared to be in his early fifties. Gray stubble covered his chin and narrowed, accusatory eyes glared beadily at the newcomers to the camp. "Don't remember too many deaths happening before you crawled up in here!"

"Mister Crisply, there were other murders..." Elysa interrupted.

"Shut up you 'ol dirty bag!" Crisply shot back, scratching his gut.

"Woah," M'Kama raised his hands.

"Ya crusty 'ol bitch!" Crisply continued his tirade.

"WOAH, Hey..." M'Kama interrupted. "Calm down, friend. What's your job?"

"He is in charge of security for our expedition," Elysa explained.

"And he's done a remarkable job thus far, I see," M'Kama noted dryly.

"FUCK OFF!" Crisply spat. "We got here and within a few days trek, my men dessert us in the middle of the godforsaken desert! Cowards! Rat bastards. All of 'em!"

"And are there any other sort of leaders of this expedition?" M'Kama asked. "Who is it that your people rely on. Certainly not him," M'Kama pointed at the scoffing Crisply. As he had asked, four more figures began to step forward.

The first was an old man, very tall but hunched over. On his face, he sported a thin black mustache, that was poorly dyed. His eyes were extremely beady and his expression hard to read as if his face was squeezed together by wrinkles. Perhaps, to counteract this, he wore a monocle.

"That's Professor Boughlin," Elysa explained. "Anthropology Professor at the Vench Insititute of Human Studies."

The next was a gaudily dressed Baoan man, younger than the rest but beneath his youthful face, there were signs of age. Unlike the others, he clearly seemed to have a great deal of money on him given the care put into the cleanliness of his clothes and the lack of even a speck of dirt on his face.

"That's Doctor Dei-fan from the Baoan College," Elysa went on. "In addition to being out lead paleontologist, he funded our entire expedition."

The last to approach was a violent looking woman with a long metal bat dragging across the sand. No piece of her clothing indicated she had studied any academia at all, and seemed to be some sort of stowaway who just happened to be hanging out with this group of professors. She glanced around with a fidgety, nervous look.

"That's Alsa. She's a last minute addition to our expedition. She's, uh...I believe you said you were an expert in the physical sciences, Alsa?" Elysa asked.

Alsa nervously gripped her bat tighter.

"Doctor Dei-fan was insistent that she come along," Elysa smiled.

M'Kama smiled in turn, placing a hand on Elysa's shoulder. "In all my time on this world, I have never seen such a miracle as your continued survival," he stated with a warm smile.

"Oh, well thank you," Elysa stated, absentmindedly.

M'Kama, whose expression had returned to one of low expectations, turned around and extended his pointer finger forward. "We go this way. Have your leaders gather your people and prepare them for a trek. Keep count of how many remain. We will likely not be alone..."

Henry arrived at the Memorial Grounds, not too far from the beach where the Beasts attacked and time once unwound. All seemed relatively normal now in the company of heroes from across the United States and many from the world over. Strange sight, it was too see many heroes all gathered in the same place to honor perhaps what was one of the greatest disasters to befall the world in the modern age. He couldn't help but wonder how many other teams were looking into the Beast incident.

He spotted Captain Valor among the many heroes gathered as well as the two heroes who helped strike the final blow on the Beast, Backlash of ACHI and his own team(?)'s Cannonade. There were other faces as well, both recognizable and unbeknownst to him, but there was also an influx of civilians. Many from Atlas City made their way to at the very least pay their respects for the city's fallen even if they couldn't remain to watch the rest of the proceedings.

Henry didn't know how long he wanted to stay, himself but he at least wanted to pay respects. And meet back with some family.

"Henry!" a couple of voices called out. Several familiar figures had spotted him, bringing a wide smile to his face. "Marshal! Anette! What's-" he began before being greeted by a tight embrace from them both. ...And a pummeling against his leg from tiny fists.

"Thank God you're alright," Anette sighed with a somber smile.

"Glad you could make it, cuz," Marshal laughed with relief. "You been so flaky lately, I wasn't sure you'd show up. I know you been eating well. You wouldn't even show up if you didn't have...what, three breakfasts?"

"By the way..." Anette smiled, squeezing her hug tighter. "...where's my car?"

"..."

"Henry?"

"So...about that," Henry couldn't help but laugh a little. "There's good news and there's bad news."

"Yo, for real? Maybe tell us later, 'cause today's-" Marshal began.

"Nah, hold up. Lemme finish. It's busted but I can fix it. It's all on me," Henry answered. Better yet, if y'all wanna upgrade? I might be able to get the hookup."

"...Are you serious?" Anette asked after a moment of silence.

"New job perks," Henry shrugged.

"Put a caper on this man, he out here dodging bullets," Marshal laughed, punching Henry in the shoulder before he could roll his eyes. "Come on, we got our seats saved," he went on, he and Anette beginning to lead Henry towards the many rows of chairs. The majority of people were just chatting amongst themselves. Loud laughter, raucous sobbing, fears and hopes for the future. An entire web of human emotion was spread across the whole of Atlas City today.

Of course the kids were more interested in the wide variety of heroes present. On the way to their seats, Henry had to feel his pant leg pulled every two seconds to alert him if one of their favorites showed up.

"Ruby Robot!"

"Stunt-Man!"

"The Sub-Woofer!"

Those three and many more were pointed out to him, whether he wanted them to be or not...but he couldn't help but be thankful. There was a tension in the air. More than he would like to admit. The fight at the beach felt like it happened just an hour ago. All that passed time vanished in an instant, it seemed. The levity of the kids, the warmth of family could both break through the veil. But only for an instant. Atlas City had lost it's unwavering faith that someone would come to protect them from whatever calamity befalls them. It was up to many heroes present today to ensure a loss like this is never suffered again.

"So, what's this new job, man?" Marshal asked, breaking Henry away from his thoughts.

"I'll...I'll tell you later," Henry replied. "I don't mean to keep in secret it just hasn't...it's like..."

"Like an NDA sort of thing?" Anette asked.

"Exactly!" Henry pointed at her, grateful for the reprieve from trying to explain any further.

"Dodged another one..." Marshal chided, under his breath. This time he got the punch to the shoulder

Drums.

Drums. All Lun could hear was the beat of drums. And all he could see was small blur at first. A tiny blue dot scattered amongst the darkness. Then the tiny dot became a palm sized globe and then the palm sized globe grew into a truly massive sphere. A planet. A planet of right blue and gold. His planet. Longbao. In all it's glory...So to speak.

He soared across the skies of his home, somehow flying amongst the clouds unnoticed. He dove downwards, attempting to get a look at what had become of his lands and shook his head in anger and disgust at what he saw. What had they done to his Empire? Longbao was ruined. It's once perfect streets now running with the stench of Sor. Those bastards. The palace had been re-purposed. Half into a museum and half into a 'Hall of Nobles'. The Nobles of Sor. But at least one thing gave him Solace. His people. They lived. They prospered for what it was worth. For all they had lost at the very least no harm came to them.

And that's when it hit. a sharp pain his his head as the bright blue skies just above him were overcome by a great shadow. Darkness overtook the landscape of Longbao...until he saw a bright shining ray of light. So bright he had to cover his eyes partially to see it. A plasmic, unstable looking ball of bright red fire, somewhat resembling a sun. Only that there was something...something larger, something imposing behind it. It seemed as if the sun was firing at him. at Longbao.

It was approaching rapidly. People were screaming and ships were fleeing. Lun, unsure of what to do, made a quick decision. His hands gelled, became cool layers of water as he formed a giant wall, ready to push back the fiery assault. He failed. Though as he prepared for his fiery fate...the sun-like blast dissipated. And that was when Lun's vision went blurry again as the world seemed to quake and shake around him.

His senses were barely able to grasp what he saw next. The only thing he felt for sure was one he'd never felt before. Overwhelming fear. And as his vision faded, he stumble back, seeming to fall into unconsciousness. What he had heard witnessed chilled him to the bone.

A blood-curdling, bellowing roar. And something else. Something that sounded similar to...

Drums.

Drums. All Lun could hear was the beat of drums. And then he woke up. He quickly used the sleeve of his ragged robes to wipe sweat off of his forehead as he took a moment to take in his surroundings. Stone. A wall of rock. Unfamiliar...He looked out of the window beside him and saw something crumbling down/ Boulders. Rocks. "Rockslide..." Lun muttered, before leaping up. "Wait! Where is this?! Where's the UO?! Where's Renen?!" he shouted at the top of his lungs like a madman.
