Re: Planning on something experimental

I am intrigued considering I am also in the throws of an experiment. Writing a fantasy from a universal point of view, where the writers can take up all the roles, or one element/ theme. It is true collaborative story-telling. But alas no bites left. Though your idea is interesting.

Anyone for a good ol' fashioned Crawl?

Calling all old-timers! Does anyone out there from the good ol’ days of rolling obscure dice, mapping out what an overly-stimulated game master; want to try and write mutually a fictionalized classic dungeon crawl? YES! Return to those thrilling days of yesteryear, yester being the 70’s, 80’s, and i...

Re: Memories of An Oldie: A Veteran RPer's Auto-Biography

I learned how to role-play my freshman year of high school. I bought the D&D redbox after a deacon (yes, a deacon) recommended after my friends and I admitted to an addiction to ‘Dark Tower’. I read and reread the redbox rules, for a whole year before I went to high school and one of my friends ...

Re: Write and Play at the Ends of Our Earth!

Alright, well, looking at the activity here, I think we need a bit more of bait. Writing within this world on good ol’ FocusWriter, I thought- this can all be written as if it happened centuries. That these tales of fallen Earth, a ‘middle earth’, somewhere between the civilization that we know, ano...

Re: Fleshing out a World Through Active Roleplaying

My only reservation with this, of fleshing out a world through role-play, is that well I am just downright paranoid-terrified of a world idea being ‘assumed’ by someone else. As a writer who harbors the powerball-3 wishes-one in a million chance of being published by someone reading a (still inexist...

Re: Partners or Maybe a small group?

Not sure if interested, but I am trying to come up with a far future, sorcery post-apocalyptic world. Its a bit chancey, in that I am thinking of authors taking whole concepts rather than just one character.

Re: Partners or Maybe a small group?

I have been thinking of creating a story set in a far future science fantasy earth. Inspiration from Jack Vance and other sword and sorcery/planet authors and other fiction. I posted it in Interest Check under 'Play at the end of our world.' Let me know your thoughts.

Write and Play at the Ends of Our Earth!

I am proposing an idea to play or dwell in a game inspired by the Dying Earth Sub-genre. Authors like Jack Vance and Gene Wolfe explored a world far into the future, on the other side of some unknown apocalypse. For those die-hard old time Role-players this may be interpreted as ‘Gamma World’ but wi...

"Know Ye Oh Prince"

“Know ye oh prince…” I am an ancient role-player, far removed from the modern assembly-line roles of today. I first took the helm of warrior, the staff of a magic-user, or the dagger of a thief, my freshman year of high school. I hid from the 1980's in a Dungeons and Dragons Redbox, opening the lid ...
