Re: Magelord

@Wake Fine.... He didn't recognize the weapon because it wasn't a musket, it was a thaumic disrupter that runs on pure magical energy and is the creation of a civilization who's alchemy is centuries more advanced than that of the colonists. This civilization has sent an initial invasion fleet which ...

Re: Magelord

@Ashfisher Accepted with one caveat. Wildlings do not possess sorcery so your wood warping skill requires an alchemical explanation, perhaps a special oil you rub into the wood.

Re: Magelord

@Wake Calm your beard. There is no possible way he could have seen a girl that looks like her before or recognize the weapon she has for what it is. I only God mode inevitable reactions. For example, if Kool Aid Man busted through your wall, I could safely write, "Wake was surprised." As f...

Re: Magelord

@Vextra Sounds good, expect some friction because New Phelesia is Northern Alliance, though, technically there is an uneasy peace so you should not be in any danger from the legitimate authorities. Be aware however that they won't have allowed Crescent Houses to have holdings anywhere near theirs. T...

GAME ON

Remember to post where your character is or PM me if it's going to be a reoccurring setting, like a home village or major city, so I can make a thread for it.

Re: Magelord

@Modesty Most of the Northerners will have fair skin. Colder climates with less intense sun means less melanin, that's just biology. I honestly wouldn't worry about it, there's only so many combinations of eye/hair color out there anyway. @unseenshadow2 Here's how I'm going to handle this because I'...

Re: Magelord

@Modesty Mines don't work as well farms because they can be easily seized without being destroyed in the process. The breadbasket idea worked because even if one of the Alliances could take the Isle they wouldn't dare for fear of endangering the food supply.

Re: Lexicon

siah - sir, a term of respect, usually used when referring to one of higher or equal rank ap - of House, a term in a formal name to denote membership by blood in a Noble House. For example, Jerril ap Vera would mean Jerril of House Vera. Nevic - Northerner, often used by those in the Crescent allia...

Re: Magelord

@Unseenshadow It seems like unneeded complexity that exists only to keep your sorcerers pale, but fine. Their agriculture is not magic, though, so to be a bread basket they are going to need to intensively farm their island. If you don't like that then change their magic from telekinesis to somethin...

Re: Magelord

They don't farm like you think. When the Magelords of Vera come out to work, it is usually night. If there is anything in particular that they may need to go out into the day for, they generally wear cloaks. They've been doing this for how many hundreds of years? Seems like by now they would have d...

House Lynari (Wind Mages) http://www.reapermini.com/forum/uploads/monthly_07_2011/post-4937-13098312146568.jpg One of the most powerful and influential Houses in the Northern Alliance, the Lynari are almost entirely responsible for the discovery of the New World. Without their magics, chart...

Re: Magelord

Minor change. Dracomar will no longer be the name of the New World. To many Dragon based words and terms. Instead it will be named Avoryll after its Old World discoverer.

Re: Magelord

Any suggestions on how to make RPgateway accept pictures in the Places tab would be helpful. I have them sized to 100x100 but it keeps giving me the finger.

Re: Magelord

@All I'm going to write the opening scenes of the RP today. These are meant to flesh out the world and give players a visceral feel for it that the sort of dry exposition we have been hammering at can not. They are also written in such a way that players can insert their characters into them if they...

Re: Magelord

@Vextra Oh I somehow missed that your House was part of the Xlisandic Alliance. Yes, their colonies would be far more like plantations and, for lack of a better word, slave mines. Noblesse Oblige would have very little sway, as you describe. Sorry for the confusion. The focal setting is going to be ...

Re: Magelord

@Brafnen Sounds good @Vextra That works fine for a sorcery type. Since nobility tend to be attached to their land in a feudal society, I don't see them trading colonies will nilly, but the ownership of a holding could certainly be passed to another House. I don't want it to happen often because I wa...

Re: High Fantasy with a slice of Steampunk

@Vextra I would like to have a player made noble House hold the colony where the story will focus. That way the main cast of nobles are not just a fleet of NPCs.

Re: Magelord

@Colonel_Masters You still have plenty of time and it's not as if I'm going to close the doors when IC posts start. @Vextra This sounds fine. I'm a little unsure about what you intend their sorcery to be, but that's the easy part. Your choosing to start in the Isles is fine, but the story's major ev...

Re: Magelord

@All Let's aim for Friday to start IC. This should give everyone who's expressed interest and is not just yanking my chain, a chance to complete characters. Anyone needing a specific place to be added to the IC threads should message me. I will make a few initial post in the focal areas to set those...
