By simple english I meant using 'this' and 'that' judiciously so that I don't have to think what 'this' or 'that' is refering to, is all. :) (But then again 'use simple english' does usually mean 'use simpler words', so it's my fault. The ArchDuke Nero just didn't do that allegiance thing, is all.
The King visited Fasdal before, but not in the six years Nero has been Archduke. So the king must be all like, "Didin't I make yo papa the ArchDuke?"

Anyways by work I meant he will ask them to mediate the war between the Magi and Cogs, not knit clothes or anything. After all, anything the nobles are forced to do is work for them right?

Because the royal family is running, they probably lost their stuff and so they aren't much of nobles, are they?
The Archduke does not do charity. If the royal family does not find work or money, he will ask them to leave the Castle, simple as that.(It is this attitude that has kept Fasdal quite rich)

one option is that we create all the important characters(like the archmage) and put them up for adoption. Till the time no one is playing them, the others can move them. So when a person decides to be one of the character, he can read his story and start from there.
