Re: So You Think You Can Write... 2!

And now, at last, months in the making, I have for you the results of the second So You Think You Can Write? short story contest! I appreciate the patience you have all shown, and would like to say that ALL of the entries had something special. As usual in contests like these, it was rather hard to ...

Re: So You Think You Can Write... 2!

I apologize profoundly to all of the applicants who submitted stories to this contest and have not yet received a judgment. It is my solemn promise, then, to have this contest decided by the end of next week, as I just got back from school today for the summer! Thanks to all of you for being so pati...

Re: So You Think You Can Write... 2!

Well, I'm certainly pleased with the number of submissions, but it's about time to lock this topic to prevent any more. I look forward to reading all of these, and congratulations to everyone who got theirs in on time. Have a nice Thanksgiving, and hopefully within two weeks the results will be up h...

Re: So You Think You Can Write... 2!

Can short stories have chapters to them? It states it needs to be short enough to be read in one sitting. For some people, one sitting can be just a page, while for others (like my mother) one sitting can be an entire short novel. It really all depends upon the person. I'm working on my own short s...

Re: So You Think You Can Write... 2!

If it is a concise story within itself, the ending will be allowed, just submit it as its own thing and indicate where the characters, etc. originate from. As for the ratings of stories, I think anything is acceptable as long as it doesn't have obscenities or vulgarities for their own sake, if you k...

Re: So You Think You Can Write... 2!

Haha, indeed. If you're going to submit something to this contest please just copy and paste it into a normal post in this same thread. If absolutely necessary you can link it, but I'd much rather you put it here directly. Thanks. ^^

So You Think You Can Write... 2!

Finally today I felt the first, biting chill of fall, and I was reminded of the very first contest at this time last year. Yes, it's been a year now that I've been reading your entries and seeing some of the best works the community has to offer. So here we are again, and with the changing of the se...

Re: So You Think You Can Write... A Song?

Well, hello again everyone. After quite some time I've finally finished judging all of the songs entered, and am ready to announce the winners. It's important first to say exactly how the songs were judged. I used a system loosely based on the one used by the Great American Song Contest which breaks...

Re: So You Think You Can Write... A Song?

Well this topic has been left open a few extra days in the hope that there would be some late entries, but sadly there weren't, haha. So I'm now locking this thread, and the judging of its contents should be done within a few days. Thanks for all those who participated. ^^

Re: Mediuma

The clouds rolled out that evening, coating the sky in a soft grey quilt that very quickly faded to black. Those same-hued eyes watched with undisguised awe as Aden took his first step onto the airship, the soft hum of its workings soothing his mind, but churning his stomach. He had never flown befo...

Re: Mediuma

Game Master Post The young man muttered the words idly, his dirty, brittle fingers moving over the beads of the necklace in his hands. He was not usually one for religious devotions, but since he had joined the war it was the only thing that calmed him down those days, and stopped the flames of his...

Re: Mediuma

He returned to the shop the following morning with his mind filled to the brim with terms and images, and for the first time in so long, a self-assured glint escaped from the cold, lifeless pits of those grey eyes. As soon as his first task was posed to him by the old Telpyre, however, he discovered...

Re: Mediuma

Rain padded gently on the windowsill of his opened window that evening. He had left the shop soon after receiving Telpyre's manual, and had set to work reading it the moment he had arrived home. Aden's back was beginning to ache slightly from his bent position as his eyes tried to make out the small...

Re: Mediuma

"I've got a question for you, before you say anything more," the aging man, Cyrus Telpyre, said. As his arm brushed against him in a motion to gather his shoulders, Aden quickened his pace to escape it, not out of disgust but almost surprise. It occurred to him at that moment that he had n...
