I've been RPing for a long time. A friend of mine got me into it back
when AOL was the only real reliable ISP. I wandered around for a
while and ended up in Delphi, where I stayed for a number of years
until it imploded. It kind of came back to life, but it implodes for long
periods of time, so I stopped going back and have been looking for a
new "home" since. I just kinda stumbled over this place.

Yue tensed as the other team members arrived. Her visible unease was mostly hidden by the suit and mask, though it couldn't quite disguise the subtle shift in body language that suggested she was a little more guarded. Honestly she wasn't expecting anyone else to show up after Sairyn basically told everyone that the investigation was NAHLA jurisdiction... or maybe he meant that he couldn't stop NAHLA HQ from showing up since Yue and he had more or less been reassigned?

The fact that he chose to talk in doublespeak around the rest of the team hadn't gone unnoticed by her, and it left a sour feeling in the pit of her stomach that she couldn't quite ignore. Regardless, they were there and providing input... Yue mustered up the willpower to activate her external vox and respond... supposing they weren't just thinking aloud or talking to themselves at least.

"Well... I'm pretty sure it was a machine," she said, once everyone had finished speaking. "This damage pattern isn't consistent with 'Brute' involvement," she explained as she walked carefully across the damage towards the street. "This wall was pulled free from the outside, most likely by a winch, and something heavy was parked here," she said, pointing to a spot on the asphalt. With a gesture the holographics highlighted a very slight indentation in the asphalt, like something big had shifted its weight in a trailer.

"Here," She said, highlighting a scuff mark on the street. "Industrial grade tires? Some kind of heavy equipment, though I don't know what kind of vehicle makes tracks like this," she noted, more to herself as she knelt down to take a closer look. After a long moment she highlighted the tracks with holographics. A pair of tracks, oddly spaced and not like a normal car, but like each wheel well had two or more tires in it. Yue stood and moved back towards the broken building, highlighting a handful of barely noticeable metallic scrapes in the rubble as she walked.

"Metallic residue here," she said. "Large vehicle drove through the building, and then pulled the wall down with a winch to collapse it... not necessarily in that order," she mused, tapping a gloved finger against the mask's chin. "Investigator, would you please run a search of multi-track industrial vehicles and try to match the tread pattern?" She asked, turning towards the drone, which was carefully comparing two rocks a short ways down the road.

It gave a decidedly exasperated electronic sigh and flippantly waved an appendage at her; a gesture it had clearly picked up from its creator. The similarity was enough to make her left eye twitch behind her mask. She didn't understand what it said, but the message was clear.

"Why do I have to do everything myself?"

"Ooooooh!" squealed Orcimedes in a rising pitch, practically dancing with giddiness. "Hmm! Yes! Very rousing! Superb entrance!" he commended, stomping over to Maria and squatting down to her level.

"Deep breaths, puff out your chest. Speak with your diaphram, it helps command the tone," he explained, then stood up, taking a breath and sweeping the wyvern skull of his staff dramatically out towards the bandits. "BY THE GRACE OF THE ALMIGHTY SACRED FLAME!!" He bellowed, his voice boomed with the authority of a thunderclap, knocking the dust out of the rickety scaffold structures.

"Like that. See how I used 'almighty' as the descriptor for your deity since a holy woman has to respect her own humility: Can't go throwing about phrases like 'Puny Mortals' like the heathenistic non God-fearing Orc I am," he snorted.

"Ooh, also! Ooh, you can add 'OR DIE' as an ultimatum to the end of any sentence to make it more intimidating. Try again... go ahead they'll wait,"
he said, ushering her towards the bandits like a small child.

"So precious," he whispered loudly as he turned back to the rest of the group. He wiped a tear from his eye, though it served mainly to smear more grime across his face. He gave her just the gentlest shove out into the spotlight like a doting parent... a doting mountainous parent looming behind her in the shadows, amber eyes gleaming in the shadows at the bandit leader.

The cunning, calculating gleam of a beast planning its next move, like he would leap out and unleash the unbridled ferocity for which his kind were known. Mercilessly smashing his way through their ranks, as a truly unstoppable wrecking ball of force. The intricacies of this kind of mental duel were often lost to those who weren't trained in the art of battle. True masters of the craft could strike their opponent down with only their gaze, without even having to lift a finger. A master, the bandit leader was clearly not... was that paralysis creeping into their bones as their gazes locked? Or just their imagination?

Orcimedes' thumb twitched, sending a jolt of tension through the air. The orc's presence was overwhelming, and the weight of his intent crushed down on everyone's shoulders. This is what it was like to face a true legend in the flesh... the bandit leader must have flinched involuntarily, as the orc's piercing amber gaze widened suddenly as he sensed his opening. He moved with terrifying quickness, far faster than any object with his girth had any right to, leaping over Maria and charging the bandit leader, his eyes locked straight onto their weakest point.

"HUNDUR!!" he shouted, with childlike glee as he dove to tackle the beast rider and all.

"I'll take care of this in a single blow," growled Himari as she held a white gloved hand aloft. The air was suddenly charged, nearly vibrating with power as she felt the magic lash against her will. Not this time! An invisible force blew her hair upward as electricity crawled out of the cement, pulled forcefully out of their underground conduits. Lights flickered and went out abruptly, and electricity arced fiercely from street signals and lamps to her body, building up tremendous power.

This was it.

She was 100% in control.

Himari's will was the strongest force; the path of least resistance. Until...

"Ruffles are always good, yeah. Nothin' to bat an eye at, a good 'ol ruffle," some stranger drawled at her from MUCH too close.

"Wh-What?!" She exclaimed, flinching away from him. All her power immediately fizzled, allowing the lights to come back on. An almost snickering crackle of thunder rippled overhead.

"Oh, this will be entertaining," chirped Quiet from Kaito's feet with a flick of her tail. "You four don't have any metal fillings or implants, do you?"

"I'll have you know-...!" The color drained from Himari's face as lightning blasted away a sizable chunk of the sidewalk at Akihiko's feet, showering them with debris. "This may have been a mistake," Himari muttered under her breath, hoping the angry bleat of thunder would cover it up.

Compounding the matter of her out of control magic was the thoughtless that was now hurtling towards them... though there wasn't much that she could do about it. She took a step to intercept the thoughtless and a rogue bolt of lightning striking the street at her feet made her leap back onto the sidewalk. Even though Himari was largely immune to the effects of electricity, the forces of being struck by a rogue bolt could still potentially injure her.

"I am your master!" She spat at the sky. "You have to do what I say!" She screamed, shaking her fist.

A peal of thunder cackled back at her.

"Fang," Sairyn addressed, in a neutral tone. He'd stopped the slates and was studying a pair of them intently. "I need you to stress the suit so I can calibrate all the systems. Don't worry about the breakage, I'll fix any damage you two cause."

"Stress...?" Asked Yue hesitantly.

"Yeah, treat him serious: like he were a real threat," answered Sairyn dismissively. "You too, Aegis. Make real combat data or the equipment I design for you won't reflect your abilities."

"Mmm," Yue replied in a dubious tone. "I've already matched his level of force, if I escalate further I could hurt him."

Alex raised an eyebrow at Sairyn. ”Real combat data huh?” He took a moment to look between his hands and Yue.

Her comment about potentially hurting him got a quiet chuckle out of Alex.
”If you somehow even bruise me, you will be the first person in years to do so.” He made his way back into the dome, positioning himself across from Silver Fang.

A spartan styled helmet made of hardlight formed around Alex's head as the same cyan glow spread out from his feet and covered the ground within the dome.
”I’ll warn you guys now, if you're asking for it I’ll be brutal.” he crossed his arms over his chest as nearly a dozen orbs of solid hardlight the size of baseballs began forming and lazily orbiting Alex’s body.

"He says he can handle it, Fang," Sairyn chirped, unable to hide the grin spreading across his face. Yue blew an exasperated sigh after she realized what Sairyn was doing.

"Aegis," she began, carefully. "If I hurt you, yield immediately," she ordered in a serious tone.

He simply gave Silver Fang a thumbs up in response. With a thought, the walls and floor of the dome began thickening slowly. ”Ready when you are... Sorry in advance." The orbs around him begun to pick up considerable speed.

She narrowed her gaze at him through the visor. Clearly Alex was supremely confident in his durability, and Yue estimated him to be on a similar strength scale as her. Matching strength with a Brute was almost always a bad idea, and then there were his barriers which could apparently move now? Getting hit by one didn't sound appealing... in fact a wave of apprehension washed over her at the thought strong enough to make her take a step back.

There was a moment's hesitation from Silver Fang. Just what Alex had been looking for. Happened just about every time he started using the orb trick too. Even movers had to be worried about rapidly moving projectiles in a closed space.

Alex wasn't going to let this opportunity pass, so he made the first move again. Alex was catapulted once again straight towards Yue. Two smaller pillars jetted out from below his feet, far faster then his previous launch method. Both arms were cocked back ready to strike as the orbs spun around his body violently.

Her hands clenched into fists. She took a deep breath and two steps forward. Crimson energy exploded out of her body like barely contained wildfire and the impact of her feet splintered the barrier beneath them as she stepped up to meet him. Seemingly unconcerned with being struck by the orbs or Alex's fists, she threaded a punch straight for his face, aimed to impact right as he was in range.

Getting hit in the head by anyone with any amount of enhanced speed or strength was usually a bad idea. Alex was really glad right now to be one of those people that didnt have to worry about that. The hit shattered his hardlight helmet like it wasn't there and snapped his head back hard, soon followed by the rest of his body. The moment he realized he was tumbling backwards Alex's left hand shot out and grabed at one of the orbs. Said orb suddenly stopped its rapid movement as if anchored in place.

Yes, the orbs were intimidating and could be used as projectiles, but Since he could keep them in place they also made for a great manuverability tool.

A surge of motion propelled Alex to the ground as he pulled himself forward, his stance in that moment resembling a boxer's. He wasn't really sure just how hard he could punch full force. What he did know was that his straight could easily punch through three inches of steal, Sairyn told him not to hold back, and it was all aimed at Silver Fang's center of mass.

Alex was retaliating too quickly for Yue to dodge, though there was just enough time to accelerate a split second before the impact. Lightning crawled over her body and Alex’s fist drifted sluggishly into her sternum. Yue twisted at the hips and drove her fist into the inside of his elbow, feeling his arm buckle as she exhaled slowly to blunt the impact. She followed up, thrusting the ball of her foot into his gut to give her some backward inertia. The force was still significant enough to throw her into the dome wall as her HUD made a disconcerting noise.

He certainly was durable: She’d hit him in the head with enough force to instantly concuss most brutes, which told her that his insides were likely fortified as well. She contemplated this as she analyzed his reactions, noting that the spheres of hardlight orbiting Alex were still picking up speed.

Yue turned and bounded up the dome wall to the apex with two swift steps, looking down at Alex and drawing a deep breath as her inertia pushed her down onto her haunches.

It didn't come as a surprise when Alex felt Silver Fang strike at his elbow. It was the smartest move she had, given that she apparently wasn't able to dodge before his fist connected. There was a brief second where he couldn't help but smile: he finally got a solid hit on a well seasoned hero... and then he was suddenly not on the ground. Again.

In that small window she had Silver Fang had hit Alex with enough force to knock him off his feet. Not good. He was momentarily disoriented and lost track of her. The orbs that had been orbiting him winked out of existence moments after impact.

He grit his teeth. Guess he was on the defensive again.

With no other options, Alex quickly curled up into as tight a ball as he could while layers of hardlight forming around him, starting as close to his skin as possible. He braced for whatever was coming.

She clenched her fists as the power rippled through her body, tensing every muscle fiber until it felt like her bones would snap under the strain. Everything crashed back into real time. Yue's aura flared ominously, and the dome shattered all the way to the ground as she launched.

A deep, explosion-like KRUMP reverberated through the entire resort, rattling all the windows as she crushed Alex through the barrier floor. The earth shattered, leaving them at the bottom of a huge crater with dust billowing dozens of meters into the sky. Sairyn coughed. He'd been bounced to the bottom of the steps gracelessly and was picking a chunk of debris out of his ruined cup of coffee with an annoyed expression on his face.

Alex had felt the blow even while compacted and protected as much as he was. The dome was gone and two thirds of his protective shell had sundered from Silver Fang's assault.

What remained of his protection faded out as he uncurled to lay flat on his back. A loud sigh of relief escaped his lips followed by hints of laughter.
"Damn . . . That might have actually bruised me if I didn't guard at the last second. Kind of wish I had taken the hit to see what would have happened." Alex stayed on his back with his eyes closed, a goofy grin plastered on his face.

"Alright then... Here I come!" Alex's eyes ignited with cyan light as a barrier formed behind Yue in less then a second. The gestures and motions he normally did when forming or launching his barriers were mostly for show. It helped throw people off when he started making them even when restrained or not moving. He'd shown no movement to indicate that he had formed the wall, and Alex couldn't help himself from smirking confidently. Blue light exploded under his feet before he launched himself at Yue with his catapult method. Alex cocked his right fist back to deliver a powerful straight punch and knock her into the hardlight wall.

"We can start whenever you're ready," she chirped coyly from behind him. Yue had just vanished right as he was about to connect. The only indication that she'd moved at all was the faint electric charge in the air and the unsettled dust tracing a path underneath his arm to where she was standing, hands on hips, a few meters behind him. "No need to take it easy on me," she teased

Alex took a moment to look between Yue and the space she had been just a second ago. He saw her move fast enough to practically break the sound barrier back at the beach. Why did he think he was going to land that hit in the first place? Alex snorted, looking miffed at her comment for a moment.

”Alright, fair enough.” He faced her and snapped his fingers. A blooming dome of light spread out until both Alex and Yue were enclosed in a thirty foot space. ”Welcome to the Thunderdome Silver Fang.”

"Hmm," she remarked, as she rapped her gauntleted knuckles against the barrier. Her head tilted this way and that as she examined her new surroundings curiously. She paced slowly around the edge of the dome in careful, measured steps while running her hand along its surface and then turned towards Alex. Yue approached him casually, leaning to one side as if to peek behind him for a moment and then reached out gently to lay her palm on his sternum while looking up at his face.

With almost a strange calmness to him, Alex did nothing to stop Yue from placing her hand on him. In fact he seemed to be smirking. "Is this you actually about to hit me and test my claim, or an excuse to touch my chest?"

"She's judging how much force she needs to eject you from the bubble," quipped Sairyn, who had arrived at some point, sipping coffee on the steps. Some might say he was sitting rather close to the two super-strength combatants with his nose buried in a slate.

As if on cue, crimson flared around Yue like wildfire as she stepped into him. A near imperceptible spike of power travel up her leg, shot through her hips, and lanced down her arm as she closed her fist on his sternum at the very last moment.

Sairyn's comment caused Alex to tense his legs reflexively the moment Silver Fang hit. The impact nearly took him off his feet as he was launched back and his feet dug into the ground to slow himself down. Alex's eyes flared again as the space behind him quickly filled with layers of barriers that he slammed into press eagle. He gave a strained wheeze followed by a cough to get air back into his lungs.

Alex righted himself while rubbing his chest a bit before taking a ready stance again.
"Wow,I actually felt that one." His grin returned as the walls behind him became to dissipate, noticeable cracks visible where his hands had slammed against the main wall. Alex had dispersed the kinetic energy rather than just taking it and trying to catch himself.

The words were barely out of his mouth before Yue was on top of him again. Had he blinked, he might have missed her. Her palm slapped his gut, and she felt Alex react, probably entirely on instinct, though it was the last thing she expected a brute to do in this situation. He went slack and jumped a few inches from the ground as Yue lifted him off his feet and carried him into the barrier. Her foot crushed the concrete below them as she thrust her momentum into his chest and closed her fist the very second they impacted.

The blow rocked Alex's body, thundering through the dome as Silver Fang carried the two of them through shear momentum towards the barrier wall. From Sairyn's perspective, the dome rapidly thickened as Alex reinforced the walls before He and Yue made contact. Though that thought quickly vanished as Alex's body passed through the barriers like they weren't even there, and Silver Fang found her fist breaking through two layers of the reinforced hard light dome. Alex, however was still launched a considerable distance away. He groaned on the floor for a moment before getting up and brushing himself off.
Somehow, that same goofy grin was on still his face.

Yue pinged off the barrier and impacted the concrete hard enough to crack it and her aura splintered into crimson sparks as the wind was knocked from her lungs. Sairyn raised an eyebrow when she was still for a long moment, but she clambered to her feet with a grunt after she caught her breath.

"How'd that feel, Fang?" He asked, scrolling through some of the data on one of the slates that was orbiting him. He casually picked a fleck of debris from his coffee and took a sip.

"More surprised than anything: I wasn't expecting to bounce. Felt the second impact more than the first... and I'm getting a lot of feedback in my joints," she replied with a chuckle, brushing the dust out of her tabard and examining the suit for damage.

"That's because you're not hitting him hard enough to activate the shock channels. I'll see about adjusting the gel layer after I process all this data though," he explained, leaning back on his elbow and brushing the other slates out of his way to look at Alex's data.

"So, want me to show how I usually end fights like this?" Alex punched his fist into his palm again as a tan luster formed across his skin and his eyes flared a bit brighter. "Or should we go for round 2?" The gears in his head were already turning at this point. He had At least two or three countermeasures in mind outside of completely bubbling Silver Fang.

"You haven't taken me down yet... so it sounds like round two," she replied with a note of amusement.
