What does RPG have on their IDevices, youtube playlists, and phones? Do you guys listen to whats hip, 80's rock, dubstep, trance, rap, Techno, Dance, Tetris, heavy metal, goth rock, screamo, "Nightcore" or anything not mentioned above?


If so, what are your favorite artists? This thread should be less of a "Oh this band is better" and the general tastes argument, but more like a "Maybe somebody will like this."

Me, I'm waiting for Daft Punk's new R.A.M. album to come out.

I listen to just about any genre, though my favorite artist is currently Hirasawa Susumu [平沢進].

If you haven't heard of him, give his music a chance. It is Japanese, though if you like the sound enough you would love the lyrics-- they are incredibly poetic and full of meaning. He doesn't write human love songs.. more or less, he has been known to write about dystopian societies in the future, human turmoil between the co-existence of robots and humans.. even more medieval or mystical themes such as the equal-caste system ideal of "Gardener King" which emphasizes that even nobles work in the birth of kingdoms.

I like a lot of things, but right now I'm really into Macklemore (Ten Thousand Hours!) and the Gorillaz. I love hip-hop or rap that is lyrically intelligent. I also really enjoy punk bands from my high school days; Say Anything, definitely.

I'm pretty super flexible with my preferences, like I try not to judge by entire genres and just go case by case artist-wise but I definitely have a preference for stuff like Regina Spektor and Fiona Apple. ^_^

I prefer rock, oldies, soundscapes, alternative, and some music from other genres.

My favorite bands include Coldplay, Seether, Avenged Sevenfold, Skillet, Arash, Evanescence, Linkin Park, Ozzy Osbourne, and Utada hikaru.(I know the last two are singers but, they don't exactly have a band name.)

Favorite songs are Sanctuary, Crazy Train, Simple & Clean, Broken Angel, My Immortal, and Nightmare.

Those are just some of my preferential picks.

Gothic Americana would be my main thing, though I enjoy a variety of other genres. Favorite artists would, hands-down, be Nick Cave (Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds, Grindeman, The Birthday Party), David Eugene Edwards (Wovenhand, 16 Horsepower) and Adam Glasseye (Reverend Glasseye & His Wooden Legs).

The majority of my taste branches out from rock - New Hard Rock, Alt. Rock, Rockabilly, Psychobilly, Classic Rock, Oldies, Metal, Glam Metal, Post Hardcore. With that being said, I work in the service industry so I'm exposed to all different kinds of music and some of the new Top 40 and Dubstep (I actually have no idea how to categorize dub step, house, electronic, etc.) can be pretty catchy!

A few bands I like: Shinedown, Halestorm, Five Finger Death Punch, Alexisonfire (minus the newest album), The Creepshow, Jakalope, Skillet, Chiodos, Thousand Foot Crutch, Issues.

The music I enjoy the most are Military marches and tunes by the Red Army Choir.

Favorites among these include; Hoch Heidecksburg Marsch, Prussia Gloria,BadenWeiler Marsch, The British made Luftwaffe march, Hohenfriedberger March, Marche De La 2em DB, Sambre et Meuse, Let's Go, My Army, Partisan song, Civil war songs, Moscow Nights and others.

Worthy mentions also include Die Wacht am Rhein, Auferstanden aus Ruinen, I Vow to Thee and others.

I also like Dixie, Swing, PROPER militant socialist tunes (none of the modern stuff, German Communist 1920's 30's and the like), Classical especially Wagner, Strauss and similar. I also like Israeli music from the 50's to 70's when it was still largely based on the Russian model of Choir singing.

I have no specific favored artist, Maybe Paul Robeson. I enjoy dramatic powerful tunes, I do not like for example blues because for me at least it is not powerful enough. I do enjoy calm music sometimes but normally just as background music, I am listening to music it would be something like the above.

I generally do not like modern music, most music especially of the late 20th and our 21st century is of no interest to me. I would go as far to say that I detest some of it such as Rap, Growling and the like.

I view the electronic computer age involvement in music with suspicion. I do not doubt that special effects can enhance music however when this enhancement becomes music I have some very swore misgivings with such a practice.

Really depends what I’m doing. When I’m writing it’s mainly classical or Pianists like Einaudi or Ryuichi Sakamoto.

I also like minimalism a good example of which is Steve Reich

I also like a Guy called Tom Day. I don’t know much abouthim but his music is great for writing to.

Running or exercise is a different kettle of fish. Then it tends to be way more up tempo. I guess I also listen to a lot of music from the Early 00s when running too, Bowling for Soup, Blink 182 that kind of thing.

I'd recommend to anyone interested in metal or whoever would like to check it out to give a listen to Soilwork"s new release The Living Infinite and Dark Tranquility's Construct. Then there's classics like Carcass's Heartwork, Fear Factory's Demanufacture, and At the Gates's Slaughter of the Soul (although if you don't mind the raw sound, check out their earlier stuff, it's sick). For something more chill, Katatonia's Tonight's Decision and Woods of Ypres's Deepest Roots and Darkest Blues are favorites of mine :).

I was able to see Katatonia with Devin Townsend at a show in Seattle. They are fantastic.
