Nations and their Political/Social Climates!

Hey guys! So here is the info on the nations we will be dealing with, as well as their political and social climates!

Gheresh - Agitated

Gheresh suffers from a tense political climate. Those in politics, aka the Senate, under the king and queen, are often distant from the people they govern and enforce strict, borderline malignant policies against the people such as overbearing taxes, land seizures for random or otherwise non-existent reasons, unnecessary tariffs on other nation's trade, etc.

The king and queen, despite being loved by the people, have little actual authority anymore and have been turned into figureheads along with their children. But because of the political game, the people believe the king and queen to be responsible for these atrocities, and thus numerous attempts on their lives have occurred of late.

The people live in poverty and distrust of their monarchs, and have rioted in the streets of Gheresh's capital sharing the nation's name numerous times.

Althuum - Agitated

Althuum suffers under the heel of a dictatorial government which has completely usurped the previous royal family's power and forced them into hiding. The people know their king and queen are out there somewhere, along with their fair and beloved princess. But where she is and whether or not they are all right remains a mystery.

Under this dictatorial government the people suffer in extreme poverty and have been fooled into thinking that their way of life has been threatened by Gheresh. As such border conflicts are common, often ending in heavy bloodshed.

The people do not know how much longer they can stand to live like this...

Irilene - Agitated

This nation suffers from a weak royal family. The king, despite his best efforts, was never groomed for the life of king before his ascension. Everything he has learned about ruling has been from his advisers and senators, all of whom have taken advantage of his kindness without his knowledge. His wife and daughter see it though, and they weep for him as well as for their people.

Though life itself is not particularly bad in Irilene, with the poverty rate being fairly low, it does suffer from a lack of provided wealth. Most of it is sucked by the nobility and governance, with little going back into the nation's infrastructure. And as a result the advisers and senators have been egging the king towards war with Althuum for its natural resources and the wealth of its own nobility.

Valkyom - Neutral

Valkyom is a neutral nation situated in the center of the triangle. Her king and queen rule with kind and even hands, though they do enforce their laws with strictness. The political climate is fair, roughly an even distribution of positive to negative feelings on the part of the people. Many feel the king and queen have become too stringent with outdated laws and too harsh punishments for minor infractions. However this is offset by how much the people feel the king and queen, even if they don't always agree with the policies they make, are kind and fair minded people who are looking out for their people's best interests.
