Howdy-hey, writers. Thanks for stopping by the Creative Realm's Writing subforum.

Before you post your original works here, take a second to look over these points:

1. Want Feedback? JUST ASK.
2. Copying & Pasting From Word.

More will be added as needed.

READ FIRST: Want Feedback? JUST ASK!

Tips: 0.00 INK Postby ViceVersus on Wed Dec 21, 2011 11:52 pm

Receiving constructive criticism is now an opt-in system, rather than opt-out. This means if you want feedback, you have to ask for it! It will prevent a WIP (Work-In-Progress) piece from getting unwarranted attention.

Copying/Pasting a Word Doc?

Tips: 0.00 INK Postby ViceVersus on Wed Feb 29, 2012 8:42 pm

If writing a post in Word (or any processor) and transferring it via copy/paste, please remember to add line breaks to your text!

When you directly copy and paste from a Word document and then hit "submit" single-line breaks are not transferred. You have to go in and put them down yourself, or put in double-line breaks yourself. Otherwise your text is going to end up a messy block like this:

Liesha entered the room warily. In her career, she had wrestled trolls, gone toe-to-toe with some of the nastiest vampires in Chicago, been shot, stabbed, kicked and punched -- and still, despite this track record, the witch looked on in horror as though the blue-eyed toddler were the most intimidating thing she had ever seen.
"Good grief. We are not doing this. Call Children's Services."
"Already did," Carter replied. He jogged his knee, and Sam squealed with joy. "ACS can't come get him 'till five-thirty this afternoon. He's in the custody of the state for now."
"Put him in a holding cell. He's a menace."
"He's three."
"I don't care how old he is. When he cries, he spawns bloodthirsty reptiles. Put him in a holding cell."
Sam's little fists found Carter's SCD badge. The boy felt its ridges curiously, an absolutely picturesque expression on his face. Carter watched him fondly. "You know what, Liesha? Come to think of it, you're probably the only one in this office qualified to deal with baby magic."

It's a mess. Take the extra time to go through and put those breaks in there. It's less of a pain to read. It makes it look more straight-up the way you want it, like as follows:

[size=120]So! Go forth, warrior writers. Take up your pens and your word processors. Write, write, write!
