NPC THREAD

A thread for the important NPCs in the roleplay. Mainly, this means the various mentors and other members of The Wardens, or the villains which will make an appearance in the roleplay. I will add NPCs as needed, while the template below allows you to add your own mentor if required. Please only post NPCs that will have more than a passing impact on the RP! Enjoy :)

All mentors are allowed to be in The Wardens btw! Though if you want them to be founding members of The Wardens, just hmu with a message first.

FRANCIS LEEDS - THE SHADOW

Hero description: . . . As The Shadow, the man is a dark mystery, a master strategist who appears to be a step ahead at any given time. He's a silent opponent, a hero who uses his mind to his advantage when facing stronger, powered opponents. Quiet and mistrusting of everyone, it's joked about by his heroic 'friends' that he probably has a folder on each of them. That's most likely true, for his mistrust and curiosity frequently have him seeking out the answers to any and every question. The hero is not known for his talkative conversations or his patience when confronted with ignorance or incompetence, but despite his frosty exterior there's a heart beneath the inky black costume. He cares deeply for the few who have wormed their way into his life and will go to great lengths to spare them. Similarly, though he may appear to show no pity for others, his dark mask and cold eyes rarely giving away any emotion, there's no doubt that he'd sacrifice himself for an innocent stranger. That's what makes him a hero. His desire to become The Shadow developed as he saw the rise of injustice in the city he loved, including the murder of his father at the hands of a vengeful gangster, and the following deterioration of his mother. In the following years, his motivation has only increased, and because of this he was one of the founding members of The Wardens.

Secret Identity: . . . Francis Leeds is the CEO of Leeds Enterprise, a science and technology giant founded by the late Leona and Joseph Leeds. Out of costume, Leeds is still the same reticent man, even if he's slightly more relaxed. He's actually been known to smile once or twice. He's relatively well received by the public for his continued support of several charities, and for fostering the daughter of an employee who lost his life in his company. Though, he's also known as something of a recluse for spending large amounts of time shut up in his mansion. He's has inherited his parents' shrewd business and entrepreneurial sense which seems to recommend him to the board of directors of Leeds, while his attendance at various galas seems to have the media happy as they plaster photos of him with various celebrities across the tabloids every so often.

HERA SONG - THE WATCHER

Hero description: . . . Born blind, Hera Song would never have been able to see if not for the astronomical anomaly that gifted her with her powers and partially returned her sight. A meteor shower occurred at the same time as a freak sun flare and a brilliant aurora in the night sky. The shimmering lights in the sky were the first things the girl saw, her mind exploding as power rushed into her. Hera Song gained the ability to see auras; reading the present emotions, health, and powers of those around her. Her eyes were capable of x-ray vision, infrared, through illusions, focus on far objects like a hawk, seeing in multiple directions, and in extreme cases, see through the veil between realms or into another's dreams. Her powers came in useful when anticipating attacks, and soon she found herself in mask and cape. Hong Kong became her home, where she was known as 守望者 or 'The Watcher'. She was a founding member of The Wardens, and fights wherever she's needed around the world.

Secret Identity: . . . Hera Song works at the Hong Kong museum of history where her passion for history and antiques continues to thrive. Her abilities sometimes give her rare insights into the objects she helps restore and display. A friendly, thoughtful woman, she is always sure to offer assistance when needed or share her extensive knowledge with anyone seeking genuine answers.

COOPER EAST - STEEL COMET

Hero description: . . . Born to a mortal father and immortal mother, Cooper didn't know that he was part other until an accident almost cost him his life. He was a trained pilot in the British air force, testing a new aircraft when he hit a pocket of disturbed air. He would have died in the resulting crash, had his mother not pulled him through into her dimension, a dimension where technology and magic were intertwined. Previously dormant powers from his mother's heritage were allowed to be woken in this other dimension, though he only possessed half the strength of the full-bloods. His mortal blood made it impossible for him to stay however, so his mother was forced to take him back to Earth's dimension. Of course, she first gave him a family heirloom; a gleaming sword imbued with magic. It could cut through most objects, blast targets with a paralysing energy, and return to Cooper's waiting hand if flung away. Always possessing a strong sense of justice, Cooper set to using his abilities for good, eventually taking up the mantle of 'Steel Comet', a reference to his grey outfit and fast flight. When approached by The Shadow, he was one of the first to sign onto The Wardens.

Secret Identity: . . . As Cooper East, he's shifted careers from military pilot to military aircraft engineer, helping to develop safer and faster planes. Having spent years in the military, East appreciates directness and strategic plans, though also looks forward to a beer at the end of the day to build camaraderie and trust. Unlike some heroes, his family and close friends know his identity as Steel Comet. It's hard to hide a secret life from his journalist wife.

SAMUEL CARSON - THE COLONEL

Hero description: . . . Like Wyatt, Samuel was a victim of the Alpha Soldier project. He was experimented and tortured also. As a result of the experiment, he lacks a navel and spikes on his scald, hidden by his hair. After escaping and becoming a policeman, he donned his hero persona when he found a terrorist threat on the president's life. No one believed him, causing Samuel to take action. After successful ending the threat, The Colonel, nicknamed by the press, became a phenomenon. He is well known for his playful nature and optimistic outlook. The Colonel is known to protect the civilians first during any fight. His warm, jovial personality charms millions as they watch the patriotic superhero. His suit of armor consists of the colors of a Bald Eagle, a big five point star on his chest. He wears a soldier's helmet on his head, painted red. His mask his connected to the helmet, covering only his eyes.

Secret Identity: . . . When Samuel is not the Colonel, he is the police chief for the Washington Police Department. After escaping from the Alpha Soldier project and learning control on his own, he entered into the police academy in Washington. Thanks to his powers, he rose through the ranks as an officer. After successful nailing a drug bust, he was promoted to police chief. While his two jobs take up a lot of his time, he does his best to make time for his husband, Xavier. Xavier works as a child psychologist. The two men are beloved by the public, working for the good of America. They are deeply admired for taking in a troubled youth. The two men adore Wyatt, especially Samuel. Samuel enjoys saving the world and being with his family.

DAISUKE SHIMAZAKI - HYOUGA

Hero description: . . . Hyouga was born into the famous Shimazaki family and become one of the most powerful elemental benders they have ever seen. His ice bending ability surpasses any members within his clan even at his young age. When he reached his matured age, he moved away from Japan and settled in the States, where he began his side job as a hero. 'Hyouga' means 'glacier' in Japanese, and the reason he chosen this name was simply because he was too lazy to come up with a better one. Hyouga is also married to a kind woman and they have had a child. Alas, during his battle against his greatest nemesis, Ifrit, his wife and child were kidnapped and killed in cold blood by the villain. Driven with vengeance, he returned to the Shimazaki household, where he underwent a life-threatening trial to earn the greatest treasure that had been kept by their family for centuries. Although he was nearly killed, he won in the end and was tremendously strengthened by the awesome power of the artifact. He had gained enough power to face Ifrit head-on and defeated the villain, thus avenging the deaths of his wife and child. The news reached The Shadow pretty quickly and Hyouga was recruited to join the ranks of The Wardens.

Hyouga is widely regarded as one of the most powerful elemental benders in the world. Unlike his nephew and sidekick, Yuki, his ice bending has almost no limitations, although without his magical necklace he would still be powerless. At the zenith of his power, he can enter his strongest state, regarded as 'Cocytus, the God in Ice'. In this state, Hyouga literally became the embodiment of ice itself, giving him the capability to freeze even concepts such as space or time. However, this state is not something he can wantonly uses, for he will have to enter a 'hibernation' process up to a month afterwards. When taking on his alter ego, Hyouga usually dresses in a costume that greatly resembles a male version of Elsa. Hence, many of his colleagues have been nicknaming him and his sidekick as 'The Cosplay Duo'.

Secret Identity: . . .Hyouga's civilian identity is Daisuke Shimazaki. He is the owner of several famous lines of fashion for men and is a highly-respected actor in Hollywood. This, combine with the influence he has from bearing his family's name and his wide network of connections, has brought him a position that many people dreamed of. Whether Daisuke is in costume or not, he is a man of refined tastes and treats everyone, regardless of them being his colleagues or the rookies, with no animosity, but he knows when to be soft, and when to hold with a firm grip. He is also quite the womanizer and his long list of affairs is almost endless, but he has no intention of moving on as his late wife shall forever remains the only one in his heart. He has been quite lonely after her death but not so much now that his nephew has come and joined the fun.

MIRANDA ARGENT - THE SILVER LADY

Hero description: . . . The vat of radioactive silver was merely in her factory as an in between location, until a radioactive control company could confiscate it for dangerous properties. Rusty framework above the vat would send Miranda Argent into that pit, and workers found her floating in it the next day. They thought that she was dead, until they pulled her body out and she sputtered back to life. They were amazed: how could this woman have survived an entire night submerged in liquid silver? Argent paid off the employees involved with the incident and set a buzz into the media that a different, imaginary, employee was the one who fell into the vat. At first, she rejected her ability and couldn't understand why she didn't die that night. The heroism started out as Argent being extremely reckless with her life and going out on vigilante missions. From there, she got a taste of what it was like to help people, after her ability helped her save actual human beings. She started to love the feeling of helping someone in peril, and even started going after villains to get them locked up. A few months into her vigilantism she started to go by the name Silver Lady. Her recklessness decreased the more she went out as her persona, and once she found a protege to work with, she has too much at stake to be that way anymore.

Secret Identity: . . .The Argents come from a long line of silver mining, and Miranda is the latest owner of Argent Silver mining company. She lived a relative normal childhood, just her and her father after her mother died from complications in childbirth. They had his parents and plenty of family surrounding them, and Miranda took an affinity for the business early on. She kept close friends with her family's friends, including Raymond King and his then-girlfriend, Delilah. Miranda took over the business after getting a business degree from University of Toronto, and has been running it for quite some time now. Recently, she's been spending a lot more time at the Quebec location of her factories, due to a certain Toronto teenager that took up a persona as her protege. Dorothy King, known to Miranda as "Goldilocks", is the only person that knows she's the Silver Lady, other than her fellow Wardens and some of their proteges.

DOMINIC BRANDON - INFERNO

Villain description: . . . There is no controlling the inferno inside. Whether it's inside his mind, or the fire flicking his fingertips, both have caused immense pain to the world. The origin of this heat-based villain is usually told in the local fairgrounds of his hometown, where a fortune teller promised his future for the change in his pocket. The fortune teller just so happened to be gifted in power bestowal, but her absence of control often led to strong energies pulling power from her. Brandon's twisted mind, even at the young age of thirteen, was enough to drag the inferno from his mind into his fingertips. Years after that fateful day, he has some form of chaotic control over the ability, and decided to pursue villainry to figure the extent of his abilities and what they could do to people. There is no "greater goal" for Inferno, his goal is merely to destroy the world and live in his own Inferno.

His original rivalry with the Silver Lady was merely out of convenience: both worked in Toronto and worked on different sides of the law, it was only fate that they'd fight one another. At first, it was fun to mess with the hero, and he would even go out of his way to make sure they they would be fighting that night; a fire would only catch her attention if the fire fighters couldn't handle it, so why not kill the fire fighters? Two years ago, their balance of good and evil changed. Suddenly a teenage girl accompanied Silver in her crime fighting, and Inferno was starting to lose, which just wouldn't do. During one of their battles, Inferno took the little sidekick hostage while Silver was unconscious. He wanted to study how Silver worked ever since they met, and the sidekick would be perfect lab rat. Unfortunately, he only had a week with his hostage before she was rescued by her hero and he was sent to prison. Don't worry, he'll be escaping soon.

Secret Identity: . . . Dominic Brandon would have been better off without parents. They might have been excited parents in the beginning, but once they were aware of the chaos residing in their son's mind, they couldn't raise Dominic in fear of what he could become without strict guidance. The young psychopath was sent off to military school for his whole life, but it seemed that even they couldn't reclaim the human trapped in the fire. Dominic showed the signs of blooming psychopathy, from his bullying streak terrorizing other students, to dissected and tortured animals found around campus. Dominic started having meetings with the school's counselor, but it was too late. After the visit with the fortune teller who gave him his abilities, he never returned to the military academy. He learned how to survive, and with his new ability, he could thrive. Dominic does not work: he gets his money and other necessities by stealing them. If he's going to destroy the world to create his own, he should at least have a nice apartment. Dominic isn't too worried about anyone figuring out he's the Inferno, because he doesn't have much of friends or family to care about protecting.

PERD HAPLEY

Description: . . . Perd has worked for a variety of networks across the years, utilising his journalistic talents to inform viewers of the news as it happens. He'd be a solid B-lister in the scale of things, a friendly face and recognised voice, but someone whose name might be forgotten if not able to see his face. His current claim to fame is as a reporter on The Daily show, where his segment, "Ya' heard with Perd" takes a look at the many daring feats of the various heroes. He'll report on battles as they go down, or comment on foreign fights from the safety of his studio. An odd quirk of the reporter, is that he often gets the lesser known heroes' names wrong. Badly wrong. This usually only affects newbies, such as those within the New Guardians. Quotes include: "Appearing on the scene now is the Shadow's sidekick, Duck and with her the telekinetic Melon.", "Coming in to battle Koala Boy right now is Yucky, the Japanese ice boy, and the super soldier The Parrot." Even if the misspoken names are not intentional, he's become something of an internet hit for his maiming of the heroes' names, much to their annoyance.

Chayton Jackson - Mind Catcher

Hero description: . . . As Mind Catcher, he is able to control the human mind by creating a link between himself and the other person; this is done through either direct contact between the two or contact with precious item of the other person, contact must be continuous or the link will break. He received this power when he was 19 and protesting a building that was a nuclear power plant too near (morally) to a neighborhood. He had sneaked inside and planned to make it unsafe to transfer the nuclear material into, only he was too late. When he arrived, the plant was already filled and not only that, but he was caught trespassing quickly after he found the vats full. He struggle against one of the security guards and both fell, though Chayton grabbed the guard's arm and a chain at the last minute, for him at least. The guard had been fully submerged in the nuclear material, but Chayton made it with just his right arm inside, still clutching the guard. After that, he was in the hospital for months before he was released and even then, the radiation levels he absorbed were still high for a human, though low enough that others in the public would be safe. He soon found on the streets with its minor frustrations that when he touched people he could control. At first it was just a coincidence, but it happened too often to continue being so. He vowed never to use his powers for gain at work, but figured he could continue his goal of serving those who need help under the guise of Mind Catcher, a hero of the night, dressed in brown, white, and turquoise, searching for wrong doers and making them confess crimes at the police station.

Secret Identity: . . . Chayton Jackson is a small time lawyer living in Chicago, most of his work is pro bono and in favor of the little guy, though for the sake of rent he does take bigger clients every now and then. When he was younger he was a full-time activist for human rights and the environment; because of this he has quite the criminal record (involving trespassing). At the age of 23, Chayton enrolled into a university to obtain a degree in law, by 26 he began work at a local law firm, Randy Harris. Chayton was raised to believe in standing up for the little guy, especially if there is nothing to be gained as too many times people are forgotten if they have nothing to give in response to a good deed. With this in his mind, Chayton has stayed with Randy Harris through the long haul of volunteering to part-time job to the full-time job he has now. He lives in a small apartment in West Garfield Park and can only afford either riding his bike or taking the bus, but he is perfectly content with his lifestyle.

Description: . . . Claudia is an avid fan of anything and everything hero. She's spent her childhood obsessed with the Wardens and their sidekicks, and in the past year has fallen in love with the New Guardians. She claims to be their biggest fan, and spends much of her spare time writing fanfiction about the various members of the group. She ships Dusk and Golden Girl, believes Menon is destined to fall into a polyamorous relationship with half his fellow heroes, and would give her right foot for a chance to meet Quantum. What she doesn't know is that the majority of the heroes she writes about attend Ascot with her. Though that ignorance might be bliss given that some of her most popular titles ("From dawn to Dusk", "Fever's fever", and "Ghost-ly encounters") are hardly pg. An excellent writer with a large imagination, Claudia is merely providing the fans with what they want, though she can get very defensive if told that her ships aren't canon. Description: . . . Mikka is the beta reader for all of her best-friend and secret crush, Claudia's fanfiction. Like Claudia she holds a large obsession for the young heroes, spouting fan-theories about who's probably dating who, and why Aether and Yuki are true cinnamon rolls. Her tumblr accounts IceIceAether, Interstellrrcutie, and GhostMeQ, all produce massive amounts of content about all the heroes, as well as promoting her best friend's fanfiction. If she ever met one of the heroes, she claims she'd get an autograph on her body and then get it tattooed. *Patriotic_Fever is the username she writes fanfiction under and through which she betas her friend's work. Her own writing is surprisingly dark and dirty, with endless amounts of angst and major character death. If asked who her favourite ship in The Wardens is, she'd agree with Claudia and say immediately that it was ShadowxCircuit.

KARA NORTH - HEATSTROKE

Hero description: . . . Kara was a scientist working for NASA who eventually volunteered to become an astronaut. After a few years of training, she was finally sent on a mission which went horribly wrong. An issue with the autopilot sent her ship careening into the sun. The ship burned up on impact, but Kara somehow survived. She went into a strange coma and was found a couple years later, floating through space, completely frozen. After being returned to earth, she thawed out and discovered her new ability to control the temperature of energy in the objects around her. She approached the Wardens herself, and after a couple of trails she made up in an attempt to prove herself, the Wardens allowed her to join their ranks.

A child at heart, Kara still has the energy, audacity, and sense of humor of a teenager. Not because of the accident, but because that’s just how she is. Kara almost never takes anything seriously and as a result, the public has fallen in love with her. She’s a favorite of the children for her witty comments and playful nature. Despite this, Kara is among some of the most intelligent people in the world. She has several degrees and certifications in the science field, including Astrophysics, Theoretical Physics, Aerospace Engineering, and Computer Science and Programming. Kara also likes to boast that she took a four week course on Psychology, but of all the sciences she's studied, that is probably her weakest.

Secret Identity: . . . The whole accident was covered up, allowing Kara to live her life as a normal civilian. Well, as normal as one could be being a theoretical physicist professor at Ascot. Her comfortably large salary allows her to pamper her side kick, Quantum, with the latest gadgets (despite the young hero’s protests).

Hero description: . . . should circuit have ever really been allowed by whatever higher powers might exist to get his powers? Probably not. But he did anyway, and there's no going back from that, so he tries to use his powers for good, or whatever. His best friend (seriously) seems to have most of New York covered anyway, so Circuit mainly keeps his shit confined to the larger Brooklyn area and helps out wherever else he's needed. (Though he has been known to fake sick every so often to get out of patrolling. Look, TV marathons of reruns of Criminal Minds are important. And if he whines enough, he can sometimes get Shadow to cover for him.) But despite his noncommital attitude, his excessive laziness, and his tendency to push his work onto others, Circuit is a top billed hero for a reason. When things get serious, he knows how to get serious with them. A genuinely empathetic person, he'll risk life and limb to keep people out of harm's way.

For the most part, though, Circuit keeps working hours filled with a certain kind of childish levity. He's been known to break out into poorly rendered song over the comms on a tense mission more than once. ("I wanna be the very best. bum bum. That no one ever was. bbum bum BOW. TO CATCH THEM—") He's always eager and prepared to pull pranks on the grump of the office and never fails to zealously overdramatic. Every once in a while, he'll say something remarkably wise and worldly (that he probably heard on a tv show somewhere) and his mentee will continue to remain convinced he's the coolest person on earth. Circuit immediately ruins the moment by turning around and saying softly to himself, "God, that was so cool." He's rather close to the mentees of his friends and likes to consider himself the "cool uncle." He fails to realize that be an uncle, he'd still have to act somewhat similarly to an adult at least sometimes.

Secret Identity: . . . Jason is surprisingly...successful (?) as an adult. Oddly enough, he holds a high position at the company where he works and is widely considered to be one of the best minds working there. He earns plenty but spends moderately, finishes his work on time, and is very professional, if a little lighthearted, in the office. As a top tech developer at Leeds Enterprise (also the scene of the accident where he got his powers from), Jason has ready access to Leeds, a nice perk given their frequent collaboration in both sides of their work. (Also, it gives him way more opportunity to annoy the man, always a plus.) Being particularly close with him and The Silver Lady, his identity is known to both them and their mentees, but really, he'll tell anyone who asks.

There is a planet on the cusp of Earth's solar system, frigid as the Artic and covered in night for most of its year. The crystallized planet, named by Earth scientists as Brion BV3F, is Rahni's home. He didn't like all the darkness and cold, no matter how well his body took to the climate. He yearned to explore the galaxy and feel the sun on his skin. The Intergalatic Marshals, an extraterrestrial police enforcement organization spanning many galaxies, was always looking for new planets and new Marshals. Rahni trained beside many others from his planet, but he stood out among the rest. His entrance into the Marshals was quick and unusual for a man of his age, but he flourished, especially when paired with his current partner, Arlen. They formed a ten-marshal squad attending to the exploration of Earth's solar system, manned by a pilot known as Liez. They had research, diplomacy, culture, all to show the humans that aliens are good and only want to include them in the Intergalactic Marshals' protective arms. It was a pilot malfunction that allowed him and Arlen to meet Selig. All they saw was a terrified boy flowing and shaking with a power he didn't understand, and their dead comrade in his crashed ship. They had to honor Liez, and the best way to do so was to help the boy that know had his sigil. They were going to help him by removing the sigil, but its connection in the heart zone instead of the spinal area caused the sigil to imbed into his nervous system instead of working on its surface. So, they only way to help is to train him to use the sigil, which has caused an extended stay on Earth until they can ensure the sigil, and Selig, don't become a hazard.

Oitune is a planet far from Earth's solar system, the forerunner of a solar system in the Andromeda galaxy. The heat-ridden planet is overrun with its population, and the children of Oitune are trained to become ambassadors for their peaceful planet in any way possible. Arlen excelled in diplomacy especially, but felt drawn to enforcing the peace, and continued into training for the Intergalactic Marshal Program. Arlen, despite being a quiet and usually solitary individual, flourished when paired with others. The initial partnership with Rahni was purely to nudge the shy boy out of his shell, but the two became much more than partners, and more flourished than the safety of the galaxy. They joined a team of diverse aliens dedicated to the exploration of the Earth solar system. To explore all these new world, meet new species, and having a friend like Rahni at his side, his life has more so much better now. Yes, his life met tragedy when Liez, his trusted leader and possibly the one person trusted more than Rahni, and yes, he harbors a side of him that resents Selig, but all of that was pushed to the side the moment his eyes connected with the confusion and fear that resonated from Selig. With the extended stay on Earth, Arlen and Rahni have taken to not only training the boy on how to use his sigil, but care for him almost as parents would. Almost.

Esfir's weapon is a lithe sword, which she uses as effectively as others use guns. Though, fighting isn't her only talent. The villain is a better liar than most, and reads others at an unsettling fast rate. A master manipulator, she'll break someone with or without her sword. As is custom, the assassin takes on high paying jobs when desired, usually illegal deals that bring in the most money. She's wanted globally for murder, but tracking her is almost as difficult as living once you've been named her target. She's been quiet for the past few years, under the radar, until she was spotted entering a Wasp labs facility in Tunisia recently.

Hero description: . . . Truthfully, Eun was supposed to have died from smoke inhalation. At one of the nuclear power plants that his company owned, a meltdown occurred due to the cooling systems being damaged in an Earthquake while he was surveying it. Although he was able to evacuate before any real damage could be caused to him by radiation, Eun had inhaled radiated smoke that came in contact with the primary circuit of the reactor. After discovering his powers, what had first started as simple acts of heroism simply to experiment with his new found abilities, lead to him being known as Nebel.

Nebel is known for being a very pretentious ass and a general stickler for perfection, though it's clear to most who work with him that he is a benevolent soul. When fighting crime, he usually doesn't stick around for more than a few seconds after, always being carried away by the breeze, nothing more than a wisp. He also doesn't wear a mask, as there's no need to when most can't see his face whenever he's a mass of smoke. Because of the nature of his powers, he has to be very careful to not kill, and as such uses his smoke to blind and irritate rather than to smother his opponents. He approached the Wardens a while after taking on the title of Nebel, and was soon integrated into their ranks after a series of trials to prove his worth. Taking on Täuschung as an apprentice was entirely unplanned, but a little part of him is grateful that he did.

Secret Identity: . . . Eun is the owner of his own nuclear power company dubbed CLOUD, that mainly focuses on electricity generation and whose headquarters can be found in Berlin, Germany. Eun is very prevalent in the public eye, and while he is still the same pretentious ass that Nebel is, he keeps himself on the good side of the public by donating regularly and spending a large sum of his money on ensuring that his reactors are less susceptible to natural disasters and meltdowns. Since he is without a mask whenever taking on the persona of Nebel, his identity is only a secret to those that live under a rock. There are dangers that come with the lack of secrecy, but he is more than capable of dealing with it.
