āØAlchemistāØ
The Alchemist is the creator of poisons and potions. Of course all characters can create elixirs, but the alchemist generally have a higher level in this skill and make much more potent poisons and hefty elixirs. Each create drink can have a variety of effects and again, the combination and powerfulness is determine by skill level in herbology. Specifics about poisons and elixirs will be explained in the items section.
ŪEnchanterŪ
The enchanter is someone who provides enhancements on armor, clothing, accessories, and weapons. Specific enhancements are explained in the skills/enhancement section. The higher the skill, the more combinations that are available. A maxed out Enchanter can provide enhancements up to two enhancement on one item. The enhancement is also more powerful as level increases. An Enchanter requires the enhancer skill.
āBlacksmithā
The blacksmith can create weapons and armor, repair equipment, and create augmented weapons. As usual, the higher the level, the stronger the weapon and armor. Only blacksmiths can create and bend armor. They are also the only ones that can augment a weapon. To augment, a blacksmith must be at high enough level (usually unlocked at skill level 60). A weapon can have one augment. This means that the weapon deals a specific type of damage besides physical. This includes, fire, water, earth, and air damage or increased damage for certain types of targets. The forging skill is required.
ā½Thiefā½
The thief is a negative occupation. A thief can steal things from shops, homes, and treasure received by another player during a battle. Depending on the skill combination, the thief can also be a pickpocket, stealing things directly out of another player's inventory. Most people do not like thieves but thieves do have their uses if you are trying to infiltrate a certain place considering they have a high sneak skill. They are good scouts and an asset in a fight, able to get closer to enemy players without detection. If a player is high in the detection skill, they may be at risk of discovery, but generally, thieves have a high enough sneak skill that they are unhindered. Unlike the previous to occupations, A thief can have many different combinations of skills.
ā½Sneak & pickpocket - This combination allows a player to have low detection and the ability to steal from a player's inventory.
ā½Sneak & lockpick - Allows the player to steal treasure won in battles and open shops and houses easily.
ā½Sneak & Detection - This makes a player an excellent scout, able to hide from others and detect others with ease. This also gives them an advantage in fighting since they can almost see what the player is going to do next.
ā Mercenaryā
The mercenary is similar to the thief, being an occupation that utilizes the sneak skill the most. However, the difference here is that this would make the player something called a 'Player Killer' or PK. These players are generally avoided by others and work in mercenary guilds or solo. Other players seek Mercenaries out to kill other players to get back at them for whatever reason. This feature was originally harmless, only causing the other player to fall back to their previous save point. In LAIOS Part 2, this actually kills the player in-game and puts the player in a coma since their hp will hit zero. Skill combination for a mercenary is sneak and Backstab.
ā¦Chefā¦
The chef occupation is a feature just to make the game seem more real. Players can smell, taste, and eat the food created in LAIOS. If a chef is good enough, the food here tastes just like it would in the real world if you were eating at a 5 star restaurant. All the flavor combinations can be found in LAIOS and a few extra on the side. In part 1, this feature is just for fun but in part 2, eating in game helps the person feel sated as if they are actually eating and helps them regain energy. To be a chef, a player but have the cooking skill.
āDesignerā
The designer is someone who crafts various clothing and accessory items. You can get clothing enchanted to help with protection but other than that, they offer very little in the way of defense. Clothing is generally usefull if just wandering in town and attending an event when armor is not needed. The level of the designer indicates richer materials and higher prices. The sewing skill is required.
ā«Bardā«
The bard is someone who can sing and entertain others for gold. They can use their voice or a lyre for this occupation. They are also excellent merchants and are able to persuade others into forgiving them or parting with more gold. They are generally well liked and respected and earn a degree of protection; Mercenaries cannot attack them unless they are in pvp-sanctioned zones, duels, or in dungeons alone. To be a bard, the silver-tongue skill is required.
ā§Treasure Hunterā§
Treasure hunters have the joy of receiving more gold in combat, obtain more items upon winning a dual, and find rarer items. Treasure Hunters are the money seekers of the game and it pays to have one in your party since everyone gets a rare item when the hunter does. Treasure hunters have powerful weapons and armor because of this and often get duplicates which they either collect or sell. The seeker and acrobat skill are required. Acrobat skills allow the seeker to get into harder to reach places where most players can't get to.
