K-1 Osaka (Semi-Final Bouts) Results

Tips: 0.00 INK Postby Teh Andy on Fri Sep 23, 2005 3:07 pm

This'll mainly interest Holy, here ya go.

Ray Sefo def. Kaoklai Kaennorsing Unan. Dec. R3

Ruslan Karaev def. Rickard Nordstram Unan. Dec. R3

Semmy Schilt def. Glaube Feitosa Unan. Dec. R3

Jerome LeBanner def. Gary Goodridge TKO R1

Peter Aerts def. Mighty Mo TKO R2

Musashi def. Francois Botha Unan. Dec. R3

Hong Man Choi def. Bob Sapp Maj. Dec. R3

Superfights:
Remy Bonjasky def. Alexey Ignashov Unan. Dec. R4

George "The Iron Lion" Def. Nobuaki Kakuda Unan. Dec. R3

Undercard:
Alexandre Pitchkounov def. Rani Berbachi Unan. Dec. R3

My Thoughts:
Man... Way too many decisions. I know they can still go the distance without being boring, but STILl it's so much better when you get a KO win. I figured Sapp would make it into the finals, same with Mighty Mo. :( Oh well. Good to see Schilt doing well though, sad for Feitosa to come from behind so well in that tournament and still not get into the finals. I was hoping Kaoklai would do better, especially being the little guy, but the little guys can't always beat the odds. Maybe we'll see him in the MAX division? That'd be neat.

Also a pity that Hoost was unable to compete due to injury. He is getting pretty up there in age though. In his statement he said that he just doesn't think he can do anymore single-night tournaments, though he can still compete in Superfight action.

For those that were wondering Bonjasky got through this round on a bye, since he is last year's defending champion. He didn't fight in the tournament here, though he won his Superfight, and he WILL be in the finals coming up.

So to recap, that makes the list of finalists

Semmy Schilt
Hong Man Choi
Jermoe LeBanner
Ray Sefo
Remy Bonjasky
Musashi
Peter Aerts
Ruslan Karaev

Good to see a lot of the old veterans made it through.
Live in your world, get KOed in mine.
