Thomas made his way down to the deck, off from the Crow's Nest. As Cannon fire rang out in the open air, Thomas turned his head to se the trailing ship. "Dumb Bastards, they'll never be able ta catch'up with here Tooth." He walked on the deck, he could hear someone calling out to the ship, He looked down to see a man in a row-boat.
He asked "ahoy, Hounds Tooth, permission ter come aboard, someone throw me a damned rope."
"Whata queer' man," thought Thomas scratching his head. Leaning forward he asked the man "What be your name and occupation? and I might"
From the Halls of Montezuma, to the shores of Tripoli
We will fight our country's battles in air, on land and sea

First to fight for right and freedom, and to keep our honor clean
We are proud to claim the title of United States Marine

The pistol smoke cleared quickly, and Matthew was left standing by the railing with a trickle of blood dripping from the corner of his mouth and a half smirked parting his lips. He stuffed the pistol back into his belt, half pleased with himself for putting that backstabbing Taggert in his place, and half angry with himself that he wasted a bullet on just the man's hat. He stood there for just a moment, trying to remember what exactly he should do with himself on this ship. He hadn't been part of the crew for many many months, and in those months he had drunken himself into idiocy more than a few times. The pirate ship had moved on, happily, without him. A man emerged from the crowd and approached Matthew, and like his meetings with Brian and Thomas, he was pleased see this man.

"Mathew English, yer a face I 'aven't seen in a long while. Wha' yer been doin' with yerself these past - what, months? Or 'as it bin years?"

"Conan! Ya bastard! 'ow do you even remember me face!" Matthew extended his hand out to him and patted his upper arm with his other hand, grinning. "Months, years, it all be the same when there be a tankard of ale in yer 'and, mate." A decently aimed cannonball struck the ship and threw chunks of wood and metal into the air. Still, Matthew and Conan stood there, as if they were two gentlemen standing in a pub discussing finances. "Y'know, I was worried when I came a board, Conan. But now that yer here, I reckon I didn't miss too much!" More cannon fire, the shots were getting a bit better, and this time a cannonball cleaved a man in half before it struck the deck, showering the surrounding pirates in blood and shrapnel.

Now things were serious. The Naval ship was behind them now, and the large barrages of cannon fire would cease and let the frontal cannons do their work until they caught up with the Hound's tooth. Matthew turned back to Conan, and grinned.

"Now, what the 'ell do I actually do on this bloody ship again?"

leon looked at the man talking to him rather then throwing a rope,"me name be leon now throw me a damn rope, afor im tossed over board in yer wake and taken by yon navy ship." he shouted hoping the man threw the rope fast, the swell of the bow of the ship was almost enough to toss the small ship and his arms were getting tired he wouldn't be able to keep up for much longer.
Up from the sea, from underground
Down from the sky, they're all around
They will return: mankind will learn
New kinds of fear when they are here

~~ the Carol of the old ones
They will reclaim all in their name;
Hopes turn to black when they come back and
Madness will reign, terror and pain
Woes without end where they extend.

"Mathew lad, yer so ugly it be near impossible ta' ferge' ye' face' ma'e."
Conan chuckled gruffly, at his comment and the way they merely stood there as the Tooth was fired upon.
"Ye be drinkin' so much yer fergo' how ta help keep a ship sailin' ma'e? Don't le' the cap'n know tha', he migh' decide ter throw yer worthless hide overboar'."
Conan nodded towards the crew that were rushing about, seeing to their jobs.
"Go give so'e attention' ter mannin' t'e guns, Matt, ye'll be rememberin' yer feet in no time." Conan nodded once more before slipping into time with the rest of the crew, seeing to the ropes while always keeping an eye on the approaching navy vessel.

Sloane and Deirdre continued to watch from the tiny window, Deirdre whispering urgent encouragement and Sloane remaining oddly quiet. They were watching the same scene, but seeing entirely different things. Deirdre was certain that the Naval ship was gaining. That it was going as quickly as possible and would be upon the pirate ship in a matter of heartbeats. Sloane was seeing that the Naval ship was quite a ways away...and that the pirate ship had quite the lead in both space an speed. They weren't going to be rescued on this, the day of their capture. She set her lips in a hard line and pulled away from the window, inhaling deeply and attempting to sift her thoughts of desperation and fear out of her being.

She was a captive, on a pirate ship full of lusty men. Now would not be the time for panic.

Thomas groaned as he led the man to the ships' quarters. A battle was going on and he was escorting a man to see the Captain. "I hope ei gets shot as soun as ei walks tru tha door." he mumbled to himself as he walked across the deck. Gunshots of rifles and pistols were started the battle off as they always do. Shots would be fired from a far, and then when the ships got close enough it was time to board. And all you needed was a good blade at your side after that. But Thomas would have to wait and take care of this odd fellow first.

Aboard the HMS Seeker the crew watched as the smaller pirate ship start to pull away. It would be a race, but the Seeker would not give up, after all she was a frigate-raider and would bring to justice those ruffians that had attacked the people of the town that was slowly dwindling behind them.

Alister worried his lip and stared at the dark form of the buccaneer ship, "Reel in the guns! Clear the decks!" The order shouted out and was carried by the officers, as the crew prepared the ship for a chase. Alister nodded as he watched the gun crews quickly and efficiently clear and stow the equipment used to fire the heavy guns.

Raising his spy glass again, Alister scanned the deck of the pirate ship, where ever they ran so would the Seeker, where ever they sought shelter the Seeker would come and flush them out, where ever they laid their head the Seeker would wake them with the thunderous roar of their cannon.

The pirates were to be caught and hung, they would try to run, they would try to hide such as the cowardly dogs they were, but as all rabid animals they would put down, and the fear of them would subside as the world would long forget their names or their momentary, and utter foul presence among the civilized countries.

Leon followed the mumbling man curious as to what he was saying about him, as he was sure the man would he had been rude, but now was not the time for niceties. he would talk to the captain and convince them not to throw him over board. he saw the English ship on the water following closely behind them but still out of gun range, and i seemed as though they were gaining a lead on them. thank the winds for that he thought he had no want to be near the english any longer. he fingered the cutlass he had in his pants. as he walked the rest of the way to the captains quarters i wonder what the captain is like? he thought to him self

"Clever as ever, ya scoundrel!" Matthew exclaimed, patting Conan on the shoulder, "I'll get righ' on that." He nodded goodbye to the man and made his way down below to where the biggest guns were positioned. The rank smells of stale sweat and filth wafted up to him as he descended the wooden stairs and for some bizarre reason, Matthew felt that he was finally home. He had grown up with such smells; familiar scents of greed and desire, death and struggle. Since he had been long ago run out of London, his child hood home, he had had to find a new home for himself. He tried to recreate his particular tastes in bars, pubs and brothels, anywhere that those of a lower class called home. But nothing quite compared to a Pirate ship such as this, where sleeping with a pistol in your hand and one eye open was required. Matthew stood at the bottom of the first flight of stairs, letting his eyes adjust to the lantern lit gloom, and grinned.

"Allo lads!"

Minutes later, he knelt beside one of the large eighteen pounder cannons positioned near the middle of the ship. The cannon was a piece of expert workmanship, with a terrifyingly large barrel that shined with a calm and polished malice even in the gloom. The wood that the cannon rested on was old and worn yet still solid, much like the pirate ship itself. Matthew patted it appreciatively, noticing the brand of one HMS Venture had been defaced by the man who commanded this gun and grinned to himself.

"They must be missing this one, then eh, Tom?" Matthew asked of the man sitting across from him. A man with scars all over his face and a number of missing teeth. He wore his dark facial hair in a long dread locked beard, with a number of beads and knick-knacks woven amongst the hairs. His skin was almost as impossibly dark as his eyes, and Matthew guessed that if the man had closed his eyes and stopped grinning so broadly, he could probably easily disappear into the groom. Which had its advantages in a world such as theirs. Matthew and Tom had seen their fair share of adventures, on and off this ship. You could almost call them friends, and they trusted each other as much as they dared to. You couldn't really trust anyone aboard this ship. The captives below would learn that, sooner or later.

"Aye, you be right on tha' Matt young boy," Tom replied, scratching at a sore on the back of his bald head, "Dey be missin' dis one plenty! But ol' Tom no give it back to dem. Nevah." His eyes glanced out the gun port, to the vast blue sea outside. "And if tha' navy ship be comin' up beside us, we be givin' them a taste o' dere own medicine." He reached over and placed his hand on the cannon, almost as a proud father places his arm around a favourite son. The two pirates fell silent, reflecting on the possible violence that would ensue if the Naval ship actually caught up to the Hound's Tooth.

"Look, Tom, I've got a little question for ya." Matthew broke the silence carefully, his brow furrowed. Tom turned towards him, the grin failing to broaden anymore. He nodded. Matthew paused for just a moment, glancing around. A pirate ship had more eyes and ears than most people knew about, and he didn't want to wind up dead just for uttering a few thoughts. He lowered his voice. "Alrigh', Tom, I 'ave to know... where the 'ell is the Captain? I mean, I 'aven't seen 'im on board since I got here. And I know, I know, 'e always liked to inspect new captives and all the loot and such. Especially," he spoke lowered his voice even further, causing Tom to lean forward to hear, " Especially with those two birds tha' the Irishman brought on board today. I can't see the Captain not wantin' to meet them tasty lasses. But 'e didn't even poke 'is 'ead out to get a whiff of their perfume. " Tom sat back and nodded slowly, the grin melting away from his face as he absorbed the question. He licked his lips and mulled his words over, his eyes glancing away from Matthew. With reflexes that Matthew should have expected, he lunged forward, grabbing Matthew by the collar and pulling him forward. A jagged and horrible looking dagger flashed in the man's hand and rested against Matthew's throat.

"Now, Matt young boy, I be likin' you, I do. You and me, we been through lots o' rumbles, yeah? Plenty o' times we saved each othah's necks and we both be grateful to each othah." Tom paused, but didn't relax his grip on Matthew's shirt collar. His eyes were narrowed to almost slits, lending some seriousness to his words. "But tings on this ship, dey be different now. Different, see? You don' be askin' dem kinds o' questions no more. No more." He slowly relaxed his grip on Matthew, and pulled away, sheathing the dagger and falling silent. His deep brown eyes drifted out to the vast blue sea that stretched out before him through the gun port. "Different now." He spoke, softly, as if just to himself. Matthew nodded slowly, exhaling slowly.

"I'm sorry, Tom."

Brain stood on the quarterdeck, watching as the navel ship slowly disappear behind them. He could hear the creaking of the ropes and canvas in the rigging, as the sails caught a strong wind. This was not the first Navy ship they had out ran and it wouldn't be the last.

"Keep the rigging full lads" called out Brain, "And get the cargo below decks!" He motioned to the small crowd of woman huddled on the deck. He had already stashed his below decks and the lads could work better without the other women on deck to offer detractions. The captain or any other officer other then Brain had yet to appear on deck.

A few hours passed and the sun had just about slipped under the horizon. Brain had a hard choice to make. He did know where the captain was or what his orders would be but he did know that if they didn't let the townspeople know they were holding woman for ransom, they would get paid. He Ordered the helmsmen to turn slightly to the west. They would make a wide circle back and deliver a message for the money and hopefully lose the Naval ship in the open ocean.

As the Hound's Tooth started to turn, Brain headed down to the galley to grabbed some food. After eating some beef, bread made that morning (many thinks to the towns baker) and grog, He made up a plate of dinner and a mug of water, then headed to his small cabin. After he opened the door, Brain glanced over his two doves. Smiling, He walked in and closed to door. He placed the plate on the floor with the mug and pulled himself into the hammock.

Sloane had spent the rest of the evening comforting Deirdre, who slipped to silent, uncontrollable sobbing to mere stunned quiet. She was often rebutting phrases like 'never see Mam or Pa again,' and 'never survive to see our twentieth year,' and 'never see the light of civilized life again.' Finally, Deirdre had grown quiet and timid as she always was, and sat in the corner with her expression vacant and concerned. Sloane had paced the room, glancing out the port hole, listening to the thud of heavy pirate feet above, clenching her teeth at the sounds of other women being harassed...or worse. There would be an escape had, of this she was certain. She just wasn't certain how, or when.

When their captor came back into his room, Deirdre winced as though she had been pinched by his very presence, and looked to the plate of food as though concerned it would bite her. Sloane, by all intents and purposes, didn't even notice him. After a few more passes in the small area, however, she stooped, picked up the food, and handed it to Deirdre. "Eat up, sister, you'll not want your figure to fade before you see your blacksmith's apprentice again, would you?"

And she resumed her contemplative stepping, coming to a stop at the window and continuing on pretending that Brain did not exist. Deirdre continued to shoot fearful glances at the man that had 'escorted' them to the ship, and picked slowly at the food in silence.

Thomas walked briskly inside the ships quarters, hurrying up his steps, thinking the sooner he got to the captain's quarters the sooner he could do his own thing. The Two of them reached a long hallway, made out of soggy, moldy, and rotten wooden. "Here be the cavities of tha Hound's Tooth, as I like to call them." As they walked buy the sound of crude men hackling and screaming women, ruffled and bumping into each other, "..He he, it’s an’t just the wood that’s rotten. Too many men at sea have tha maddest cases of tha horn, and the only cure is one thing." A high shriek rammed into Thomas year. "Ahh, I see he's a got a virgin in his arms, he does."

Thomas chuckled outwardly, but inside he found it sad that he would stand next to such rank fleshes of meat, that called themselves men. No honor, no pride, just gold, ale and a few women in the sack was all they need. Thomas tired to spit in disgust, but he knew he had to keep in his pride, and stick out his poker face, less he be off wandering in the next port, with nothing but his sword, bare bottom and all.

At the end of the hall was the Captain’s quarters, the door was made of bright cherry wood, finished in gold trimmings, all spit shined and cleaned, but on the other side of the door, the color red was that of a different creed. Some of the men that walk into that room, would be the same ones would be dragged out three minutes later, with a ball longed in their forehead. There was a reason why it was called the Red Room, yet no one dare say it to the captain's face, less they wish to add another coat to the walls.

Some times the coloring was painted just on random occasion, or just by the whim of the captain, but nobody carried, as long as they got what they wanted. The Captain could cover the walls in Wine and call it a Pissing and Licking Office for all they cared.

Thomas and the new comer made it to the red door. Thomas knocked quietly, hoping it would not surprise the Captain. A low and heavy based voice mutter back to the knock, "Come in."

Thomas opened the door quickly and shoved Leon in, while quickly closing it behind him, with a bang, as the sound of golden metal met soggy wood. "Good Luck" Thomas whispered as he walked away.

He walked by Brian's Quarters before turning his head, noticing that the two "doves" were still sitting inside.
"Ohe! is Bree-ann..." He lowered his voice to a murmur quickly seeing as the man was trying to sleep in his hammock. He saw the two girls, one clutched around herself while she ate and the other looking out the window. Thomas sighed and sat down, pulling out his knife and slamming it to a table. He then eyed an apple and picked it up. Taking the knife out of the table he started to cut it up into six pieces. He then offered on of the slices to Deidra, as a form of an olive branch, and he hoped that she did not think it was some kind of trick. "Ere, I always hated eatin tha skins. I don't know if yu feel tha same, but my name’s Thomas."

Deirdre simply stared at the man's offered apple, her eyes slightly wider than normal. At the sound of a particularly loud scream from one of the other kidnapped girls, she flinched and pulled herself more tightly into the corner. It had been bad enough being prisoner on the ship with Sloane and herself alone, but now there were two pirates in the room with them. Not a comforting thought.

Sloane, on the other hand, took the piece of apple with a viciously curt 'thank you' and sat herself down next to her sister. She was growing increasingly frustrated with her lack of plans formulating. Staring at the window and she bit into the slice of apple, she scowled. "So then, how long does it usually take before you grow more lustful for ransom than for violating the women you've captured?" She asked coolly, addressing either one of the pigs in the room.

Brain glanced out of the cabin into the mess room where Thomas was sitting. He was just amused by his attempt to befriend the doves. He settled back into his hammock and closed his eyes again.

"So then, how long does it usually take before you grow more lustful for ransom than for violating the women you've captured?"

Brain sighed and rolled over on his side to face Sloane. "Coin is always the first thing to go for" he said softly, "The enjoyment brought by women on board is just a bonus. Ye might have been ransomed by now had the Navy ship not sailed upon us and forced the Hounds Tooth to sea. Ye're have to blame the navy for spending a few nights with our company."

Sloane clenched her teeth, turning to stare daggers at Brain. Enjoyment? The shrieks of the women just outside the door was a bonus of enjoyment? For a moment, her cheeks turned a slight shade of furious red. Then she was on her feet, fists tightly gripped as she gave the man a look of utter loathing. "And I don't suppose it could have anything to do with the fact that you and your rapscallion friends took them to begin with, then? Clearly, the fault lies with the Navy for attempting to stop you cowardly wolves from making victims of innocent women!"

Thomas clinched and crushed a piece of the apple in his hand, "Tcsh' " He held back what he wanted to say, knowing that Brian was in the room. He would have said, "No, I’m not like that, I think its sick and wrong for a good man to spoil a woman." But he kept it in his thoughts, and gave Sloane a cold look, trying to keep up his false appearance. "Naaa," he lied " Your too damn ugly far tha likes of me, and your bosoms are a peck too small, damn near mosquito bites if ya ask me." Thomas kept his lie up, by biting a piece off of the apple, cringing at his words. "What is wrong with me?” He mumbled in his proper English accent, that he kept hidden amongst the crew, with chunks of apple bits rummaging through his teeth and gums. He stopped and notice the bitter taste in his mouth that came from the apple, or maybe, he guessed, it was just his mood, finding its way out of his heart and onto his tongue.

He shifted and ruffled his white mangy blouse, as apple crumbs fell off his chest. He fixed his gaze back at two "doves" somewhat regretting what he said.

Brain was about to respond when Thomas responded. He started to laugh, softly at first then growing louder. Slipping from his hammock, knowing that sleep wouldn't come for some time now, he came to stand before Sloane. His thumb and two fingers from his left hand stroked his stubble covered chin, as he studied Sloane and Deirdre.

"Nah" said Brain, "Don't listen to that daft git, ye are very pretty and have a nice bosom, the both of ye." another womanly scream echoed from somewhere on the ship. He rolled his eyes at the sound. "I cannot be speaking for the rest of the lads" he continued, do so very close to Sloane, "But I do be saying enjoyment for meself and my ransoms, for their willing and have fun. I've not forced a lass to lay with me, as ye cannot preform the best tricks while holding a lass down."

"And we're all victims" Brain continued in a whisper, "For the Navy created us and then threw us away when the job was half done. None of theses lads can get another job or be suited for another honest job."

As Brain approached, Deirdre shrank away, her eyes growing ever more wide. But Sloane remained upright and firm, not shifting her position or her glare even a fraction, even when Brain was so close she could smell the sea on him. She continued to stare directly into his eyes as he spoke, and as yet more shrieks sounded on the ship. And when he finished speaking, she continued staring into his eyes as she replied.

"So because you can't find honest work, that justifies stealing away not only a woman's home, but her honor?" She asked with her Irish roots showing through clear as day. Her green eyes sparked fiercely. "And you...I suppose you think yourself some sort of gentleman, seeing as you stop short of molesting, since you're just a kidnapper and a crook?"
