Not all merpeople have all of these powers. Some are natural for both turned and natural born mermaids/mermen. Some are exclusive to natural born mermaids/mermen.
Hydrokinesis
It allows the user to move water without touching it as well as expand it and mold it into different shapes. With this power a merperson can create balls of water, blasts of water or even geysers strong enough to lift people off the ground. It is channeled through the hand by moving your fingers. This power might be the same as Telekinesis as it also moves object (water) with the mind, and it has the same trigger movement of the hand.
Hydro-Cryokinesis
It allows the user to freeze water. This can be paired with Hydrokinesis to create a sphere of ice that can be used to attack someone. There is a disadvantage to this power because although water can be frozen, the merperson with this power has no control over its movement.
Hydro-Thermokinesis
It allows the user to heat and boil water. This can be used to create steam, superheat objects or raise bodily temperature. This is the most dangerous power of the three because control can easily be lost and it can create so much heat and dryness that it can easily dehydrate people or even create fires. There is a disadvantage to this power because although water can be heated, the merperson with this power has no control over its movement. This power can come in handy when in need of a steam cover, melting ice, or drying off quickly.
Gelidkinesis
It allows the user to change the viscosity or thickness of water. Gelidkinesis has been shown to be able to turn water into a jelly-like substance. After a short time however this power has been shown to wear off as the water reverts back to it's liquid state. There is a disadvantage to this power: it makes water or drinks undrinkable.
Substanciakinesis
It allows the user to turn water into a solid state, without freezing it. It can be seen as an enhancement of Gelidkinesis in that it solidifies water instead of merely jellying it.
Mecokinesis
It is the ability of combined substanciakinesis and gelidkinesis; it will equal the ability to explode water or jelly, and can also be used to glue objects together or create enough sticky or jelly ease in objects causing them to pour bucket loads of goose or sticky slime.This has been used to manipulate and mold mud or slime. in Mako Mermaids however, there are no merperson with this power yet.
Aerokinesis
It allows the user to create and control wind and air currents. This power is an upgraded version of Hydrokinesis.
Cryokinesis
It allows the user to create snow and blizzard through the use of Moon Rings. This power is an upgraded version of Hydro-Cryokinesis
Pyrokinesis
It allows the user to create and control fire. This power is an upgraded version of Hydro-Thermokinesis
Electrokinesis
It allows the user the generate electricity and control lightning. This power is an upgraded version of Hydro-Thermokinesis
Atmokinesis
It allows the user to form clouds and even create rainfall/snowfall and thunderstorm. This power is a set of power that includes Electrokinesis, Aerokinesis, Hydrokinesis, and Cryokinesis
Telekinesis
It is the ability to move objects and people with the mind, often in ways not visible to the naked eye. It is channeled through the hand by moving your fingers like you do with Hydrokinesis. This power might be the same as Hydrokinesis as it also moves object (water) with the mind, and it has the same trigger movement of the hand.
Invisibility
Invisibility is the power possessed by all natural born merpeople.
This power was introduced in Mako Mermaids, as it was not in H2o:Just Add Water because they only became mermaids when the full moon affected them. It is used primarily by placing a hand near their head and possibly clenching it into a fist, releasing it to become visible again. This ability also allows the user to conceal other people and things they are in contact with.
Invisibility Detection
It allows the user to detect invisible merpeople and locate them while they are invisible.
Volume Reduction
It allows the user the reduce the volume of an object. This power is possibly the branch of Telekinesis, because the user moves the surface of the object inwards and squeeze it with the mind and is channeled through the hands by using the index finger and thumb and do a squeezing movement.
Siren Singing
It is a power only natural born mermaids have (It is unknown if mermen possess this power. Turned mermaids do not posses this power.)
It allows a mermaid to put human men into trance and make them follow her around and even order them to do anything, which they will always obey her.
Speed swimming
It allows merpeople to swim at the speed of 600 km/h. Their body is encased in bubbles and use it as a jet stream to swim faster.
Extended Breath holding
It allows merpeople to hold their breaths for an extended period of time and allows them to stay underwater longer than a normal human person. Born merpeople can hold their breath for hours even all day, but for humans turned merpeople, they start at just 15-20 minutes, but can hold their breaths a lot longer if they practiced.
