Randomeda Universe Quest

Tips: 0.00 INK Postby Orlandy on Sat Jul 07, 2007 12:47 am

And so the Gods of the Randomeda Universe spake unto their children,
"This,
shall be the most confusing universe ever lived in.
For all shall be determined by random chance generators,
that we shall dub the Seventh Sanctum."

And lo, the children of the universe from then on found their every characteristic determined by a nonsentient
generator. And lo, the children were confused.

After many years of suffering at the hands of such ridiculous beasts as the Brain Parrots of the Underworld, or the Halitosis Juggernaut of the Pawn Shop, one man randomly decided that he had had enough of this chaos.

Buzz Sharpfist was the name of this man, a slimy pimp who has a mysterious past and who can see the future with erratic reliability. As he came to this decision he stood up from his table at the Wise Goat's Alehouse, upsetting his Legendary Carmel Brew, a heady drink from the Mighty Fool County. He stormed from the place with slimy determination, and spent the remainder of his gold buying his first weapon, a Demiflail of the Country of the Six Dragons. In this land, most flails would have 6 heads, to correspond with it's namesake dragons, but Buzz's weapon, being a Demiflail after all, had only three. It was all he could afford.
He set off.

OOC: Anyone is welcome to join this quest, but all characteristics and everything done must be determined by the random generators on http://www.seventhsanctum.com. I, uh, hope this doesn't just die off, but things are random after all, so anything could happen.

Buzz Sharpfist knew where he was headed. The sudden glimpses of the future that sometimes took him had revealed that beyond five realms was the portal to a dimension of monsters and gods, and here he would find the key to creating order out of chaos, saving the world from randomness. He knew also from his visions that this portal lay North. Glancing at a map, he listed the five realms he would have to cross to reach this portal to the ether.

1. Barony of the Blessed Thieves
2. Cat's Land
3. Raider's Province of the Apples
4. Realm of the False Emperesses
5. Soldier's Realm

At this point he had no plans for combating the myriad infernal creatures of the Demon World, but, he knew, these things often had a way of working themselves out. No doubt he would meet many a buxom wench, friendly thief or cute little dog, and no doubt he would gain many a magical skill, and no doubt would he would steal many an improbably named magical relic, in his travels. He set his feet facing North, and began walking towards his first trial, the Barony of the Blessed Thieves.

The road to this much-avoided Barony was little-inhabited, and so Buzz Sharpfist worried what he would eat on the way, as there were no inns and he had forgotten to bring food on this mighty quest. His mind wandered back to his childhood, and the strange and bizarre foods served by his mother, Speonn. While Speonn could control what she cooked to some degree, there was always an element of randomness to the finished product. Buzz's father Iqyumeb often said that the family should be thankful for the weird gifts that the universe gave. Buzz supposed that this was sometimes true.

Then suddenly his mind flew from the past to the distant future. Wizards in robes of silver stood around a boiling pot, teaching their young apprentices the magic arts.
"Repeat this spell, for it shall serve you well in your travels, young ones." Boomed a wizard. "It is the spell of the Final Ancient Chief, with a Mind of Steel and the Ice Halberd. We call it the Globe of Bad Hair."

As Buzz snapped back to his senses he began to doubt that his sanity would last the trip, or indeed that he would either, with such useless spells to draw on.
This musing was promptly forgotten, however, as he realized where he was. While delving into the depths of his own mind and the minds of others, his helpless body had been dragged into the woods, and was about to become a meal for a pack of Psionic Chihuahuas.

Flail and Quail

Tips: 0.00 INK Postby Orlandy on Sat Jul 07, 2007 2:24 am

OOC: Combat in the universe of Randomeda is odd to say the least. Hand to hand combat is decided using the Martial Arts Move Generator at http://www.seventhsanctum.com/generate. ... ame=mamove. Generally speaking, the longer the move name, the more powerful it is, but points can be scored for it's appropriateness to the situation.

To Rakoshnor: Making your own is fine, Seventh Sanctum Should have all you need. Buzz looks forward to meeting you.

Buzz Sharpfist was relieved to find himself only facing these three small psychic dogs, but knew that they often had a master, who sent telepathic commands for the tiny animals to do his bidding.

Utilising the random fighting style he was proficient in, Buzz let fly at one of the Chihuahuas with a Fist of the Fickle Foxes.
The last time he checked, a fox can easily kill a chihuahua, bringing the torn remains home to devour with the rest of the family,
and so this move was effective against the dog. The first Psionic Chihuahua explodes, leaving two more.

The two remaining canines began to hover in the air, charged with psychic power. One cast the telepathic Stone Snap move, but as there
were no large rocks nearby in this forest clearing, the move had no effect. However, the second chihuahua had studied in the martial arts Ocean Academy and used the despicable Stomp of the Imperial Driven Fighter move. Buzz found both legs broken immediately by this powerful attack.

Killer's Lock of the Ghastly Chariot was Buzz's next move, and he had lucked upon a powerful attack with it. Diving at the dogs, he managed to grab both of them and crush them beneath the metaphorical 'wheels' of the chariot, which were, in actual fact, his thighs.

Searching the tiny waistcoats of the dead Chihuahuas, Buzz came upon some Glorified Pipes, traditional musical instruments, which were really nothing more than whistles.

But testing out these pipes, Buzz unwittingly alerted the horrendous owner of the dogs that his precious pets had been killed. Out from the shadows stepped a being of whom grizzly stories were told in Buzz Sharpfist's hometown. It was Moneystone, the Mechanical Quail!

This horrific foe began casting a dark spell just as Buzz recalled that he had a weapon. Drawing his Demiflail from his belt, he stood firm as Moneystone cast the Dying Devils' Ceremony of the Living Blade.

A demonic death-screech sounded, for as any dark magi know, this unholy rite requires a devil to be slaughtered for each casting. Demonic Rights groups have sought to ban the ceremony in the past, as devils are now becoming rather an endangered species. However, the organization opposing Demonic Rights called themselves Demonic Rites, as if everyone wasn't confused enough already. Needless to say, Ceremony was not banned, which is why our slimy, pimpin' hero Buzz Sharpfist looked with horror upon the Demiflail to see it come to life, the three spiky dragon-heads starting to snap and cough embers.

Buzz needed to dispatch Moneystone quickly, before his weapon developed the sentience to feed. The only spell he knew was Globe of Bad Hair, and as the mechanical bird had no hair, the spell was useless. Buzz would have to resort to his training in the random martial arts, and hope that he performed some sort of unstoppable elemental super-punch.

What he performed was Leaf Smash of the Drunk.

Within seconds he had pummeled all the surrounding leaves to a pulp, with the savage ferocity a drunk feels when he has been kicked out of the bar.
Moneystone laughed a quail-y laugh, which was really more of a cluck.

The upshot was that the superhumanly fast punching had disoriented the dragon flail in Buzz's hand. He had one more chance to produce a relevant attack, or this feisty Demiflail would consume him.

Buzz tried to perform Kick of the Raider, but his broken legs would not allow it. With a howl of pain and effort he hurled the flail away from him, losing his only weapon. The flail landed near Moneystone, and together the fiends bore down on him.

As his one final effort, Buzz blew the Glorified Pipes, pleading to the universe to let them shoot poison darts for no reason.
His hopes were dashed as nothing emerged but s shrill whistle. He should have known the pipes would fail him. After all, they were really nothing more than a whistle. Buzz prepared for his death.

Then, to his amazement, he noticed that Moneystone had turned around.
Yes, the Pipes had effected the Demiflail in the same way as the pipes of a snake charmer. The Flail had stopped, mesmerised, and gained the attention of the huge mechanical avian creature. Buzz had been granted another chance to survive this encounter.

Grasping his own fist with his other hand, Buzz propelled himself towards Moneystone in a twisting Hammer Strike of the Lonely Soldier. Sharpfist had lucked upon a complex move here, and, with the force a lonely soldier uses to hammer crude crosses into the graves of his fallen comrades, Buzz shatters Moneystone's gear-encrusted left wing, as well as his psychic concentration. The Dying Devils' Ceremony of the Living Blade had failed before the Demiflail was fully sentient, and the weapon dropped back to the Earth, lifeless.

OOC: Apologies for the length and changing of tense in the last entry. It will hasn't happened again.

Both combatants were now crippled, and Moneystone was grobulous with rage. As Buzz tried to crawl away, the quail's eyes began to glow red, as he cast another dark incantation, Cursed Aura of Anal-Retentiveness.

Buzz was distracted by the sudden need to go back over his tax returns and arrange his clothes into his draws according to colour. His distraction gave the Quail another chance to cast a spell. Infernal Chant of Detergent caused a multitude of soap-bubbles to fill the air. Buzz's once-slimy peasant tunic became spotless clean.

Now it was Buzz's eyes that glowed red, red with rage at the lemon-freshness of his robes. His sliminess defined him! How dare this vile bird make such an attack on his character! To hold on to his sense of who he was, Buzz knew he would have to redouble his pimping efforts. But in the meantime, by the power of Gorewuruyu, The Torturer of the Underworld, this quail would pay!

"Seventy Bears Pull!" Buzz unnecessarily yelled the name of his attack at the top of his voice. He then began a strange dance, which, unbeknownst to Moneystone, was drawing towards them all the bears within a two-mile radius. But this would take some time.

Moneystone laughed at Buzz's efforts, which, to the mech-bird, seemed fruitless. He began to invoke a portal to the Dandruff Zone.

Of course, this sort of spell was just what Buzz had been hoping for. He intoned the words of the Globe of Bad Hair as white, spiny monsters began to flood from the Dandruff Zone. They had been directed at Buzz, but, surrounded as Buzz was by the Globe, the dandruff-beasts saw friend rather than foe, and, finding no hair to pollute on the metal quail, they flooded right back into the Zone, closing the portal behind them.

"Vile human!" Bawked Moneystone, having suddenly discovered the powers of speech, "I curse thee in the name of Rnof-Lebdiyr, The Bloody Deciever of Disease!"

Buzz said simply "Oh look, the bears are here."

Sometime later, after the 70 bears had departed, Buzz dragged his crippled body over to the utterly destroyed one of Moneystone, the now-deceased Mechanical Quail. To his surprise, Buzz noticed something glinting within the mass of springs and gears that used to compose Moneystone. From the metallic pile he withdrew a vial containing a thick tonic, amber in color. It smelled like honey, but as Buzz took a sip, he discovered that it tasted like vomit.

Miraculously though, Buzz looked down to see his legs fully healed. A shame he had drunk the entire draught, but at least he could walk again.

Searching the clearing, Buzz discovered a bag, full, no doubt, of treasures looted by Moneystone and his Psionic Chihuahuas. Buzz found the following items within the bag:

A jar of Loxes - medium-sized, square, crimson pills.
The Awl-pike of Alter Disappearance
Walker's Shield

Grateful for the small, round shield and a secondary weapon, Buzz retrieved his Demiflail and followed his trail through the woods, back to the road. He began to walk Northward.

Meanwhile on a seperate but nearby part of the Randomeda Universe, The Monarch Snaresoul was stroking one of her favourite Fire Sleepers From The Aerial World, scorching her nut-brown skin in the process

Much can be said about Madam Soulsnare. This lonely girl has slanted brown eyes that are like two tiger-eye gems. Her thick, wavy, coffee-black hair is neck-length and is worn in a bizarre style. She is short and has a narrow build. She has long-fingered, oddly ornamented hands. Her wardrobe is dignified, and is mostly violet and green.

On this particular day she was wearing a violent purple dress and a turquoise sash. After leaving her cold cup of coffee on the head of a nearby fire sleeper she strode over to the window of the Witch's Watchtower and gazed down upon her secret fortress. She was, after all, leader and monarch of the Sisterhood Of Spectroconjurers. Through her garden of indigo venus fly-traps she spotted her right-hand woman Rnof-Lebdiyr, The Bloody Deciever of Disease.

"Your mistress" spoke Rnof-Lebdiyr quietly later when she reached the top tower, not wanting to cause any undue anger, "your favourite mechanical quail, Moneystone, is no more. He was slain by a mysterious traveller."

Soulsnare then did something surprising and let out a loud cackle. "Moneystone was a fool, he wasn't fit to shine my shoes..." said her majesty, "which needs to be done after we're finished here by the way. Send my new pet and finish off this enemy to the Sisterhood."
"I think that they will find your new pet quite a handful" said Rnof-Lebdiyr and they both started laughing maniacally.

Soulsnare retrieved her coffee from the fire sleeper. Rnof-Lebdiyr then set about shining her mistress's shoes while Soulsnare smugly took a sip of her now piping hot coffee.

Re: Randomeda Universe Quest

No sooner had Buzz Sharpfist crossed into the Barony of the Blessed Thieves than he was accosted by a roaming band of Black Elves. He sent them scattering with a Hand Stretch of the Eleven Peace-loving Dogs (wishing that he could conjure up such powerful moves as this in actual combat), but noticed that the brigands actually seemed annoyed with him. Indeed, he thought he heard one mutter the word "Blasphemer" under his breath as he scuttled away.
Bemused, he walked on, eventually coming to a farmhouse. He saw a boy nearby performing generic farmyard tasks.
"Hey kid!" Buzz called, "Can you tell me where the nearest alehouse is?"
The boy introduced himself as Wepott, and told Buzz that the nearest such tavern, the Penguin and the Giant, was a day and a night away.
"I see." Said Buzz, "Then can y- Hey! You're trying to steal my Loxes!"
The boy looked confused. "But of course, sir. This is the Barony of the Blessed Thieves! The act of thievery has been declared holy by the Baron,
who proclaims himself the living incarnation of our god, Vileih, The Idiot Manipulator."
"Look kid, I haven't got time for-"

Buzz's mind switched to fast-forward. Something that filled him with unholy terror was bearing down on him.

Buzz snapped back to reality.
"There's something coming. And I'm not ready for it yet."
"Well mister," Said Wepott, handing back the jar of Loxes, "I think you'd better take one of these."

Buzz knew Lox pills were a dangerous magical drug, creating a random magical phenomena that effected only the user. Still, a Globe of Bad Hair was not enough to combat what was coming, and Buzz needed a miracle. He swallowed the pill.

Nightmare Enhancement.

Buzz instantly knew the effect of the pill and realized that it was exactly what he didn't need. He knew, from his shady dealings in his days as a pimp, that a man could take a maximum of three Loxes before being transported to the Battlefield of the Gluttonous, where all who gorged themselves on Lox eventually wound up. Knowing this, he took another Lox pill.

Divination Halo

As a ring of golden energy encircled Buzz's head, he felt it's effects bolstering his own temperamental powers of divination. He also felt a surge of darker power mingling with the Divination Halo, the effects of the Nightmare Enhancement were taking their toll. Buzz's mind was sent forward, further than ever before, but the dark, hateful elements were brought out, emphasized. His mind saw the light-filled, glowing metropolises of the future, but Nightmare Enhancement forced him to look down deeper, below the city, where vast numbers of Space Slashers from the Cremating Realm practiced strange rituals. He saw the darkest known ritual of the Space Slashers, performed by Shimmerbeak.

The sky lightened as Buzz's mind returned to the present. The horrors he had witnessed showed on his face, and in his ears rang the precise magical rite, the Legendary Sacrifice of the Insane Avatar.

Coming to his senses, Buzz looked around, and saw Wepott making off with his Demiflail. "It is as Vileih intended!" Shouted the boy.

Re: Randomeda Universe Quest

Tips: 0.00 INK Postby Orlandy on Sat Jul 07, 2007 12:06 pm

Buzz had intended to get some rest in the barn, but this proved impossible as he came upon two beasts already inhabiting it, a Homonculus Wombat and two Horror Inheritors. The wombat was a tiny, hideous Frankenstein of a thing, and the Horror Inheritors, as Buzz well knew, were shape-shifters that would become what the viewer had last felt true horror for. In the case of Buzz, this happened to be the Space Slashers of the Cremating Realm. It was time for Sharpfist to sharpen his combat skills, and quickly.

Buzz's first target was one of the Inheritors, which had only just begun to transform. He came out swinging with a One Hundred Unjust Waters Snap, and, luckily used this complex move to break something within the formless creature, killing it.

On Buzz's right, the second Horror Inheritor had completely transformed, and on his left, the tiny little wombat dove at him in a Twist of the Terrifying Phantom Horse. Now, Buzz was harder to break than an Inheritor, but even he could not withstand this spinning, kicking, neighing attack. He dropped to the floor, winded.

This gave the Space Slasher the opportunity to cast a spell, but luckily this particular Slasher was only an apprentice in the dark arts, and only managed to cast The Mask of Holding on Buzz, stopping his mouth from casting spells, but not his body from performing it's deadly dances of death. Buzz came out with a Pearl Gate Shiver, hitting the Slasher with a double backhanded slap.

Then the Wombat, in what was perhaps a nod to it's English, burrowing cousin, flawlessly accomplished a Straight Strike of the Shivering Badger, ramming into Buzz's stomach with a slight vibration. Buzz was winded again.

As he gasped for breath and cursed the wombat, the Space Slasher cast Spectres' Digging, enabling it to dive below ground, out of harm's way.
Buzz, recovered again, attempted a Roll of the Rampart. His ninja-style roll missed the Wombat, but, as intended, knocked out a crucial part of the barn wall, sending it toppling away. The barn was filled with sunlight and the wombat, being a burrower as previously mentioned, blinked it's eyes in the harsh glare and was disorientated.

Just as Buzz was about to administer the killing blow, however, the Space Slasher leap from the ground, hurling a fearful Blast of Halitosis at Buzz.
The slimy Buzz was unharmed. "As if my breath could get any worse!" he bellowed triumphantly. The stench knocked the wombat clean out, but the Space Slasher was protected by his airtight helmet.

Then, using a similar move as he had on the Slasher's brother, Buzz performed the Fallen Phantom's Snap, super-effective against a spectral creature such as the Inheritor.

All his enemies unconscious or destroyed, Buzz searched the remaining three walls of the barn, and to his surprise found a Utensil of Conjure Silver. He thought about using this one-shot magic item to reinforce his shield, but decided it might be of more use later, putting it in his pack.

He sensed his enemy was drawing ever nearer, and in the meantime decided to catch a nap in the cool shelter of the barn.

Re: Randomeda Universe Quest

Tips: 0.00 INK Postby Orlandy on Fri Jul 27, 2007 8:11 am

Buzz woke with a start at midnight. He sensed that the thing that was seeking him was still far away, it must have been delayed in some way. No longer tired, Buzz decided to continue walking towards his destination.

Cresting a hill, he saw stretched out before him a lake covered in a solid layer of red coral. Here and there glints of armour or treasure could be seen from the spiky incarnadine plant life. This was the Reef of the Great Warriors, where, Buzz knew, many had perished. He stepped out onto the coral, rocky in places and spongey in others, and realized that, were he to take a wrong path, he could blunder into a deep rockpool or something worse.

Currently, though, the path forward seemed obvious, a trail beaten flat and hard by many feet. He followed it for some time until he saw the trail dividing into two separate paths, each equally well-used. Buzz began to think that someone was living here, for the paths to be so apparently well-traveled.

It was thirst that drove his decision, as he saw that the left-hand path led towards a round patch of lake, shallow and free from coral.

Buzz trudged over to the pool but before he could cup his hands, a Colossus Koala broke the surface of the water. Apparently what Buzz had taken to be the bottom of the pool had been a gigantic reclining statue of a koala.

The thing had not had time to survey it's surroundings when Buzz Clap of Portals'd it's rocky posterior. The water below the beast began spinning, forming a whirlpool, and the groaning creature was sucked below the lake. Buzz took his drink and continued down the left-hand path.

Not far along this path, Buzz discovered a curious, blue, nautilus-shell house, with a sign over the entrance that read, "Secret Office of the Triton". Buzz pushed at the door, expecting resistance, but was surprised to find it was already slightly ajar. He walked inside.

The interior of the small house was not clearly visible, as there were no lights or windows, but Buzz thought he could make out a dark shape before him. The shape moved.

"State your business sir?" came a voice.

"Uh, looking for the Triton, I guess." Buzz replied.

"Well, you found him, Ghostsprocket at your service." The voice was thick, as if the speaker was vomiting honey as he spoke. However, Buzz's voice was not so different from this, and the two beings seemed to find an affinity for each other's sliminess.

"You're on a quest, Buzz Sharpfist," Ghostsprocket vomited, "Sound carries through water my lad, and we of the sea wish also for some sense of reason in this world. Unfortunately we cannot aid you openly. It would be noticed by... she of the Witch's Watchtower. However, I think I could trade you, an item for an item. There's the chance it could be the perfect thing to help you win. Yes, always the chance."

Buzz agreed. Reaching into his pack, he brought out the Glorified Pipes, which he didn't think would produce another such fluke as they had with Moneystone. A thickly dripping tentacle took the pipes off into the darkness and returned bearing the Triton's gift. It was a book! Buzz squinted to read the cover in the dark room.

The City's Military Chronicles

"Which city?" Asked Buzz.

"I don't know, Our kind do not read." Said Ghostsprocket. "Lakewater makes the ink run. Oh, and before you go, I must tell you: At the centre of the lake there is a magical portal to Cat's Land, but it is guarded, oh yes, by the Old Border Minotaurs. You see, This reef, this lake, was once not a lake. It was a citadel, a castle-town, where the Minotaurs guarded the magical border between here and Cat's Land. Stopped the cats getting in for many decades, this was before my time, but eventually, the felines broke through their defences. As a last resort, the Minotaurs' master, Clawboss The Beastial, sent out a wave of magic that leveled the citadel, transforming it into the lake we know today. The cats never came back. They hate water."

Frowning, but thanking Ghostsprocket, Buzz left the Secret Office, and continued down the left-hand path.

After walking for some time across the surface of this expansive lake, Buzz decided to take a rest by the side of the path. It was here, while drinking a handfull of lakewater, that he remembered that the effects of the Loxes from the previous day would have worn off by now. Surely, if he only took one, the possibilities couldn't be too bad. If he only took them in desperate circumstances he would be more likely to consume several, waiting for a really good magical phenomenon, and consumption of more than three, he knew, would take him to the Battlefield of the Gluttonous, a place he did not wish to see.

So, pondering this, he removed one crimson pill from the jar, swallowed it, and washed it down with lakewater.

Chronal Destabilization

Time lost it's sense of equilibrium. The lake upturned itself before Buzz's eyes and became a citadel once more. Border Minotaurs roamed it's hallways. One had a special job. It was to bring a book to Clawboss, for him to continue his studies of the magic arts. As the minotaur hurried in front of Buzz, Buzz snatched the book from it's grip.

Buzz caught a glimpse of the minotaur looking around surprisedly as time stabilized again. The citadel became a lake once more, and Buzz was returned to his place by the path, clutching in his hands a brand new, and yet very old copy of "Alchemy for Magicians".

After some time, Buzz found himself nearing the lake's centre. Here the coral was tall, forming impenetrable red walls. Buzz could hear the falls of massive feet all around him, and knew that the Old Border Minotaurs were very near, and no doubt had other beasts to guard the portal into Cat's Land.

Suddenly a large creature came scrambling over the red coral wall. The Primal Desert Shaker, a beast made partly of sand and partly of scorpion turned, saw Buzz and bellowed. Buzz was holding the 'Alchemy for Magicians' book, and had time to flick it open before the Desert Shaker struck, hoping the spell he found would easily dispatch this large enemy. The spell he found was...

Astral Beam of Balsa

Buzz invoked he words of this spell and from the heavens came streaming small model aeroplanes, aerodynamic and light due to their balsa wood construction. Unfortunately this barrage was rather ineffectual, the planes simply bouncing off the Desert Shaker's rough hide. Buzz barely had time to put his book away before the fiend attacked. It smashed it's clawlike hands together in a Clap of Magical Fortresses, an extremely relevant attack given that they were fighting on the ruins of a magic citadel. Buzz stumbled back, blood pounding in his ears. Luckily, fate allowed him to accomplish a Grab of Northeastern Queen Goddesses. Not only were these goddesses queens, they were also Northeastern. The Primal Desert Shaker was summarily grabbed, allowing Buzz to perform another attack.

This time it was an Eighty Generous Beetles Palm. Buzz raised his hand open-palmed into the air, and it began to glow. Within seconds, this beacon had called the requisite 80 beetles, who all offered the Primal Desert Shaker a slice of cake and a coffee. As the Shaker struggled to turn down these multitudinous offers, Buzz escaped down the path, and ducked behind a wall.

As Buzz hurried closer to the lake's centre, he heard some sort of alarm horn blow. The minotaurs already knew he was here. He would need a lot of luck to get past them all, and decided to consult Alchemy for Magicians. The spell he found was Cure Foot Fetish.

Hardly alchemy, Buzz thought. His foot fetish cured, he decided he might have better luck with the Loxes. He took one and waited for it to reveal it's magical phenomenon.

Planar Explosion

As an explosion ten feet wide, but with absolutely no height appeared above him, Buzz thanked the gods that the effects of a Lox pill only apply to the user. He did not need his position revealed to the minotaurs. He swallowed another pill.

Immaterial Negation Degeneration

This effect contained so many double negatives that Buzz had to work out what exactly had happened. Eventually he realised that Immaterial objects, or Antimatter, had lost their negating effect on actual matter. Flipping to the relevant section in Alchemy for Magicians, Buzz discovered that in general, when matter and antimatter came together, a massive release of energy was created. For Buzz, this meant that antimatter attacks and magic would do him no harm. Hoping this was enough protection, Buzz trudged off to face the Minotaurs and their allies. After some trudging, he came upon a Slime Scion Of Ys'igan.

Storming the Lake

Tips: 0.00 INK Postby Orlandy on Thu Nov 15, 2007 4:41 am

Buzz's first attack was a powerful Mill Cyclone of the Searchers. It blew the Slime Scion clean off it's feet; as the creature was a searcher itself, the attack was super-effective. Buzz hurried further into the coral maze and came upon an Eternal Spirit Hacker and an Evil Cyclops. Buzz attacked with a Fallen Fist, which barely stunned the cyclops. The Spirit Hacker uttered some code, and for a moment took control of Buzz, making him deliver a Demon's Spin of Haunted Clouds to his own leg.

The leg was broken. Buzz fell to his knees, but managed a Transforming Spirit Thunder of Nightfalls, a sterling effort. Directing the attack to the Eternal Spirit Hacker, he caused the fiend to transform into another form of spirit. Lightning struck the Spirit Hacker from the night sky, and when the flash of light and noise was over, there was a Draining Child left in the Hacker's place.

The cyclops then attacked the crippled Buzz with an Unfriendly Warrior Toss of Nodes. "That was meannnnn!" yelled Buzz as he was flung into the sky, coming back to earth to land with a splitting crack on a protrusion of coral. Buzz was in great pain, and as he struggled to get up, the Draining Child attacked. Forgotten Priestess' Bite of the Chant was the move, and Buzz felt his life draining away into the Child's teeth due to this powerful attack. Buzz attempted a Noble Drag of the Stalker, a moderately powerful move, but was unable to drag the child with his broken leg and injured back.

The Evil Cyclops' next attack was a Hidden Sacrifice. He plunged a sacrificial knife into the back of the Draining Child, surprising both Buzz and the Child. The fruits of this labour would be revealed soon, but at the moment they were hidden.
Buzz cautiously used a Fighter Stomp of the Profane Raid on the cyclops with his good leg, swearing obscenely as he did so.
The move was avoided by the cyclops however, who used a Cemetary Block of the Sixteen Rats.
Partially-decomposed rats leapt from the ground, taking the brunt of Buzz's stomp. Buzz retaliated with a Shield Hammer of the Two Brave Dragons, using his Walker's Shield to bash the cyclops as only brave dragons can. the Evil Cyclops staggered back, and Buzz, sensing he was winning, lunged forward with a Grasshopper Chop of Ebony Meteors. Vibrating his legs together in a cricket-like chirp, Buzz karate-chopped the black wooden meteors that were falling all around him. An improbable attack, but a powerful one. The meteors were ricocheted into the cyclops, who fell to the floor, stone dead.

From the Cyclops' body, Buzz took a Lawful Pendant of Muck Webs and a Medication of Ether Gushes. On the Draining Child, he found an Ethereal Golem's Knife. Looking up grimly, Buzz set his sights on his goal, the centre of this coral maze, and hurried towards it. He was close now.
